Exclusive: Veteran producers William Shockley and Tom Brady have partnered with Allen Gilmer and Riki Rushing to launch Thunderbird Pictures, a new production company to have a presence in both Los Angeles and Austin, TX.

Thunderbird’s launch was teased last month at SXSW, where the company served as the official awards sponsor of the inaugural Thunderbird Rising Award, presenting prizes to first-time directors Paris Zarcilla (Raging Grace) and Brittany Snow (Parachute). The quartet will be joined at the banner by Head of Casting, Tiiu Loigu; Head of Business Development, Jason Chilton; production exec Robert Abdou; and Chief Financial Officer Aldo Waker.

Exclusive: Patricia Velasquez (The Mummy), Gian Franco Rodriguez (Halston), Rumer Willis (Sorority Row), Billy Budinich (Frank and Penelope) and newcomer Isabella Feliciana will star in the social impact film Maya from director Julia Verdin (Angie: Lost Girls), which has entered production in Los Angeles.

The film written by Verdin looks to raise awareness on key issues including child trafficking, domestic violence, alcoholism and child abuse. It’s inspired by true events and will show how predators use social media to lure vulnerable teens into their lair.

Exclusive: Fabrication Films is headed to Cannes with international sales rights to Sean Patrick Flanery’s thriller Frank & Penelope.

The upcoming film stars Billy Budinich (Maya), Caylee Cowan (Willy’s Wonderland), Kevin Dillon (Entourage), Jonathan Schaech (Blue Ridge) and Flanery, who directs, and comes from Redbud Studios.

Frank and Penelope tells the story of two soulmates who had nothing to for live that find themselves in a violent battle for life and love in a small desert town where nothing is what it seems.

LA-based Fabrication will launch sales at the Cannes Film Festival, where the film has its premiere market screening on May 22 at 11.30am.

Redbud Studios has revealed the official trailer for a film titled Frank & Penelope, marking the feature directorial debut of actor Sean Patrick Flanery. It's a tale of love and violence when a man on his emotional last legs finds a savior seductively dancing in a run-down strip club. And a life most certainly headed off a cliff suddenly becomes redirected - as Everything is now worth dying for when they stop in a small town and find themselves at the "Table of Truth". Another of these strange small town crime thrillers, with some very odd cult things going on in this trailer.
