Alexander Skarsgrds 35% Rotten Tomatoes Jungle Adventure Has a New Streaming Home
Image
One of the projects that helped put Alexander Skarsgrd on the map and make him who he is today just got a major streaming update. The Legend of Tarzan, the 2016 film in which Skarsgrd stars alongside Margot Robbie, Christopher Waltz, and Rory J. Saper, has officially begun streaming on Max. The film was not well received by either critics or audiences, currently sitting at a 35% score from the former and a 58% rating from the latter on Rotten Tomatoes. In addition to Skarsgrd, Waltz, and Robbie, The Legend of Tarzan also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Casper Crump, and Ashley Byam. The film's poor reception didn't stop the Tarzan name from helping it generate major revenue at the box office, as it earned more than $350 million worldwide on a whopping $180 million budget.

‘Influencer’ Explores the Connection Between Manipulation and Murder [The Lady Killers Podcast]
Kurtis David Harder
Most of us have a love-hate relationship with social media. Yes, our phones provide hours of entertainment and allow us to connect with the larger world, but the proliferation of social media also fosters harmful comparisons and can leave us feeling inferior to bare acquaintances and outright strangers. And that’s to say nothing of influencer culture. This brand of salesmanship revolves around glamorous social media personalities who draw our attention to products and practices. While there’s nothing inherently wrong with this form of subtle marketing, the line between genuine truth and paid sponsorship can be frighteningly thin. Kurtis David Harder plays with the deadly consequences of social media reach with Influencer, a psychological thriller set in a gorgeous locale. While vacationing in Thailand, three different types of female influencers collide in a deadly game of manipulation and death.

Madison (Emily Tennant) is a social media star traveling on...

‘Kindling’ (2023) Ending Explained & Movie Summary: What Was The Significance Of The Fire?
Image
Director Connor O’Hara’s Kindling has beautifully depicted a tale of the male kinship of five young people who have been supporting their friend in battling a fatal illness. This is a real-life incident that the director has portrayed, stemming from the loss of one of his own friends. The movie has been named Kindling, meaning a collection of twigs and sticks to start a fire, to depict the fire that the protagonist Sid plans to start. He ignites the fire of kinship with his mates in order to exist forever in the universe before passing away. Revolving around friendship, brotherhood, and trust, the British film Kindling is an emotional drama starring skilled young actors like George Somner, Conrad Khan, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte, Rory J. Shuder's Influencer Horror Movie Review
Image
Shudder's newest title Influencer references the social-media presence of the central characters who document their entire lives online for likes and sponsorships. It also refers to a more insidious type of influence, though, wielded by the deceptively unassuming CW (Cassandra Naud), who preys on the narcissism and insecurities of those social-media personalities for her own devious, violent ends. Director and co-writer Kurtis David Harder relies on that influence to toy with the audience, too, in a thrilling and clever way that makes Influencer fascinating to watch.

As Influencer begins, it seems like the protagonist and title character is Madison (Emily Tennant), who posts upbeat updates about her vacation adventure in Thailand, while onscreen she sits glum and alone, ensconced in a luxury resort away from all the local culture she touts in her content. She's putting on a fake front for her subscribers, while she's miserable on a trip she...

Cassandra Naud
Influencer review – smart thriller about Instagrammers in mortal peril
Cassandra Naud
Cassandra Naud is striking if a little opaque as a predator seducing image-obsessed tourists in Thailand

In this smartly arranged thriller by Kurtis David Harder, Canadian actor Cassandra Naud holds her own as a kind of social media Tom Ripley, out in Thailand preying on vacuous, smartphone-toting influencers while coveting their silky lifestyles. Broken down into four parts following different characters, the film dabbles in but doesn’t wholly conform to the now-standard satirical takedown of 21st-century popinjays. There’s something darker and more solipsistic at work here: Naud’s repeated spiel of “They won’t even notice you’re gone. Nobody cares” is just as rehearsed and trite as other airheaded Insta-platitudes.

Her character, CW, first gets her claws into Madison (Emily Tennant), a fellow American making nice for her feeds but actually moping around the Thai coast because she’s having a hard time with her British boyfriend...

Image
"You probably brought me all this way to kill me... in the middle of the ocean... 'no one can hear you scream.'" Shudder has revealed the official trailer for an indie horror movie titled Influencer, made by a Canadian filmmaker named Kurtis David Harder. Yet another horror take on the darkness of influencer culture and how these people a vapid, shallow narcissists. While struggling on a solo backpacking trip in Thailand, social media influencer Madison meets CW, who travels with ease and shows her a more uninhibited way of living, but CW's interest in her takes a darker turn. Starring Emily Tennant as the "influencer" Madison, joined by Cassandra Naud, Sara Canning, Rory J. Saper, Paul Spurrier, and Justin Sams. This looks better than it sounds in the text description,...

“Despite what she tells her loyal followers on Ig, social media influencer Madison is having a lonely and disappointingly uneventful visit in Thailand. When I say a small memento, I mean a device that allows the users to infiltrate and take control of somebody else’s mind and body. Of course, given this opportunity to see the world through someone else’s eyes...

Rufus Review
Vampire stories are almost completely played out these days. Between TV shows and movies, there’s far from a shortage of media about blood-suckers at a viewer’s disposal. But still, that saturation doesn’t mean those stories can’t be entertaining when done well. Dave Schultz’s Rufus isn’t anything revolutionary in terms of vampire movies, but it’s still handled in an interesting way, full of intrigue, mystery, and emotion.

Rufus tells the story of a vampire (Rory Saper) left alone in a small town, trying to fit in and not allow anyone to find out what he is. He is taken in by the sheriff (David James Elliot) and the sheriff’s wife (Kelly Rowan) after his traveling companion is struck by a truck. From there, he begins to become one of the family, making friends with those around him, including a neighborhood girl (Merritt Patterson...
