Ballard star Courtney Taylor shares her excited response to the series being well-received by critics and audiences. Based on the novels by Michael Connolly, Ballard is a spinoff of Bosch: Legacy, the Titus Welliver-led series that came to a close earlier in 2025. Being introduced in the Bosch: Legacy finale, Maggie Q's Renée Ballard spearheads a new cold case division for the LAPD.

In Ballard season 1, Taylor plays Samira Parker, a former police officer, who, after 5 years away, is convinced by Ballard to return to the LAPD. At the time of writing, Ballard has a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 78% Popcornmeter. The season is also a hit on streaming, currently the top show on Prime Video. All episodes of Ballard are available to stream on Prime Video.

In an interview with ScreenRant's Grant Hermanns, Taylor shares her reaction to the series' critical praise and its success with viewership.

Bosch: Legacy fans have been patiently waiting for the return of the series, which ended Season 2 on a tense moment and left fans desperate to know what happened next. Season 3, however, will not directly be answering the questions they have, as series star Madison Lintz, who plays Harry Bosch’s daughter Maddie, revealed that there will be a short time jump when the show returns.

The Bosch franchise has been an incredible success, but after six seasons of Bosch, and three seasons of Bosch: Legacy, the series will be coming to an end – although a new spinoff will at least give fans the chance to see Titus Welliver return intermittently as Michael Connolly’s former detective. As the new season approaches, Lintz spoke to Game Rant about how the story will be picked up a little later in the timeline than many expected. She said:

I hear AMC has given a straight-to-series order to drama The Son, from Sonar Entertainment and producer Michael Connolly. The network, which has its TCA presentation tomorrow, declined comment.

The Son, based on the book by Philipp Meyer, was one of three drama scripts AMC selected for further development in May, along with Goliath and Ledge 49. They were to set up a writers room and work on scripts and outlines with an eye toward straight-to-series orders. The goal was to have three to five completed backup scripts, a few more outlines and a completely mapped-out first season. Kevin Murphy is The Son‘s showrunner and ran that show’s writers room prior to pickup.
