Inside The Whca Dinner: With No Trump And No Comic, Correspondents Finally Get The Spotlight At Their Own Event
Image
The cavernous Washington Hilton ballroom for this year’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner was still filled, despite no Potus on the bill, no comedian, and few administration figures or members of Congress drawing attention in the crowd.

“I’m told that we’re the entertainment for the evening, so this is what you get,” quipped BBC News’ Anthony Zurcher, one of the evening’s honorees.

That the spotlight this year was on award recipients, scholarship winners and a final speech from Whca President Eugene Daniels is one of the better outcomes for the association, under attack from the Trump White House, determined to marginalize the mainstream media as biased and elitist.

Guests still walked the red carpet to show off their tuxes and gowns, and the Whca even added an additional step and repeat backdrop for the journalism rank and file to get their own Instagram shots. One of...

CNN Plans Six Hours Of Coverage For Each Night Of Conventions
Image
CNN will provide six hours of coverage each night of the Democratic and Republican conventions, which will be nearly all virtual.

The network typically has a major presence at convention sites, setting up its own restaurant, the CNN Grill, to serve as a backdrop for its anchors and correspondents. The coronavirus crisis has forced both parties to cancel just about all events and speeches at the chosen convention cities, Milwaukee for the Democrats and Charlotte for Republicans, while networks are basing their coverage from their studios in New York and Washington.

CNN’s coverage will be from 8 Pm to 2 Am Et starting on Monday, when the Democratic National Convention starts and runs through Aug. 20. The Republican convention runs Aug. 24-27.

Wolf Blitzer, Jake Tapper, Anderson Cooper, Dana Bash and John King will host coverage, with Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon joining from midnight to 2 Am. They will be joined by...

Endeavor Signs With D.C. Lobbying Firm Led by Former Trump Campaign Adviser
Logo
Washington — Endeavor, the parent company of Wme and Img, has signed on to American Continental Group, the lobbying and government affairs firm led by David Urban, and early backer of Donald Trump in the 2016 campaign.

Endeavor’s representation was disclosed as part of lobbying registrations filed with the U.S. Senate. Politico first reported on the registration, which was made under Endeavor’s former name, Wme Img LLC.

American Continental Group bills itself as a bipartisan firm, and its staffers have worked on Capitol Hill on both sides of the aisle. Other media and entertainment clients that the firm has represented have included the Copyright Alliance, Comcast, the MPAA, Time Warner, and Viacom, and they have worked on issues such as intellectual property.

A spokesman for Endeavor said the company has two in-house government relations executives and has also retained other outside firms. It owns Ufc and the Miss Universe Pageant.
