‘DanDaDan’ Swoops Onto Blu-ray This Summer
Image
The wait for DanDaDan Season 2 just got a little bit easier. Gkids and Shout! Studio announced today that Season 1 of the massively popular anime series will get an extra-special Blu-ray release soon. The artwork of the Blu-ray release evokes every element from the show: comedy, sci-fi, supernatural and the tiny kitten mascot who is actually the spirit of an old woman along with protagonists Okarun (Natsuki Hanae in the original and A.J. Beckles in the English dub) and Momo Ayase (Shion Wakayama and Abby Trott). The series will hit shelves on June 10.

The collector's edition of the DanDaDan Blu-ray will come in a box with a 32-page booklet, as well as art cards that champion the anime's distinct visual style and a die-cut sticker. As fans of the manga know, the art from DanDaDan stands out both in animated form and in stills, and it's one of the reasons why the franchise became so popular.

Film Review: Teiichi: Battle of Supreme High (2016) by Akira Nagai
Image
Although at the moment, the anime/manga adaptations of Japanese cinema have reached a quite high standard, the case back in 2016 was not exactly the same, with a number of titles being of dubious quality. At the same time, there were still films of the category that stood out. “Teiichi: Battle of Supreme High” is one of those exceptions

Haki Users One Piece Fans Wish Were Canon
Image
One Piece is quite well known for the creative variety of Devil Fruits, which grant users supernatural abilities that defy reason and logic. However, like most shonen, fighters also have the means to use spiritual energy. Haki is a power system that lets users manifest energy directly from their sheer willpower. Busoshoku bestows armor via aura, Kenbunshoku provides extra perception, and Haoshoku overpowers the wills of others.

The manga is considered the official source material of the series proper. Nonetheless, there are several adaptations that arent necessarily canon. These range from video games and novels to popular anime films and filler television episodes. There are several Haki users that couldve had potential in the main story had they been canon. From the Kung-Fu Dugong to the strong Douglas Bullet, they vary in prowess and strength.

Movie Review: New World (2011) by Lim Kah Wai
Image
Malaysia-born drector Lim Kah Wai’s “New World” reflects its creator’s nomadic life, split between studying and living in Osaka, Beijing and Tokyo. The film is in fact an unusual mix of Chinese and Japanese characters whose lives intersect and connect on a evolving backdrop.

on CathayPlay

Coco (Shi Ka) is a modern Chinese girl, living an easy life in Beijing, cocooned in her world of friends and shopping and chaperoned around by the driver of her wealthy and workaholic boyfriend. It’s almost Christmas (not surprisingly a Western and consumerist holiday) and bored Coco is dreaming of spending the holidays in Japan, the glamorous destination of her dreams, but it looks like her boyfriend will not be able to join her, and after an altercation, she decides to go on her own. Coco has a friend who is studying in Osaka and asks her to...
