The Maze Runner's ending is packed with action, twists, and reveals as Thomas and the Gladers escape from the Maze and the future of the franchise is put into motion. 20th Century's adaptation of James Dashner's novel of the same name came out in 2014 and followed Dylan O'Brien's Thomas as he wakes up in the Glade and searches for answers regarding the maze and his past. His life and that of the other Gladers changes with the arrival of Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), who is the first girl to be sent to the location after all this time.
Together, Thomas and Teresa push the rest of the Gladers to fight for their freedom and escape their seemingly endless captivity. This comes with pushback from Gally (Will Poulter), while the new friends Thomas has made - Maze Runner characters Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), Minho (Ki Hong Lee), and Chuck (Blake Cooper) - follow his lead.

During the 2010s, there was a huge spike in YA dystopian books getting film and television adaptations, and among them was James Dashner's Maze Runner series. Audiences could not get enough of the end-of-the-world genre, and more specifically, because of the young protagonists, teenagers felt as if they had finally been given a voice in a more "adult" setting.
In these works, a governing body or an elite organization is always trying to mask horrible situations with false promises to civilians who are not privy to what is going on behind the scenes. However, an ambitious teenager emerges and convinces a group that they have to stand up for what is right, even if that means risking one's life.

The Maze Runner trilogy, led by Dylan O'Brien as Thomas, offers a unique take on survival in a post-apocalyptic world. Despite intense competition, the series provides a deeper message about individual choice and ethical decisions. Audiences can learn from Thomas and Teresa's journey to use their voices against corruption and stand up for what they believe.
Based on James Dashner's book series, the Maze Runner trilogy follows a teenager on a journey through a post-apocalyptic world where he is forced to make life-and-death decisions not only for himself but for everyone who chooses to follow his lead. Dylan O'Brien plays the ambitious and determined protagonist, Thomas, who, in the first film, finds himself in an artificial environment surrounded by other teenage boys who have not yet fully managed to make sense of their new world. Rather than accept his new reality, Thomas pushes boundaries and asks tough questions, eventually...

The Maze Runner featured an impressive cast of talented actors, including some of the faces of the franchise — Dylan O'Brien, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, and Kaya Scodelario. The 2014 movie was a part of a new wave of dystopian movie franchises in the early 2010s. The supporting cast of The Maze Runner also had notable careers, with actors like Aml Ameen, Ki Hong Lee, and Will Poulter.

“Stranger Things” star Matthew Modine will portray a baseball coach in the independent family drama “Chance.”
John B. Crye, a distribution executive with Wrekin Hill Entertainment and Newmarket Films, makes his feature directorial debut from a screenplay by Michael P. “Chance” is based on the life of local baseball star Chance Smith, who committed suicide in 2012 at the age of 16 following a breakup. “I’m proud to be a part of this unique project — a town coming together to work through their grief at losing a cherished member of the community by sharing their story,” Crye said.

With apologies to Tolstoy: Each unhappy family may be unhappy in its own way, but miserable adolescents do tend to get repetitious. “Measure of a Man” is the latest among too many of what one might term “My Crappy but Formative Teenage Summer Vacation” movies. Worse, it’s a particularly generic one that brings no distinctive personality or plot angles to a very familiar set of misfit-hero woes and eventual, underwhelming triumphs. A first U.S. project for director Jim Loach, the primarily TV-trained son of Brit auteur Ken, this bland flashback lacks the cultural familiarity that boosted his Nottingham-set prior feature “Oranges and Sunshine.”
His voiceover narration just as pedestrian as everything else here, Bobby Marks (Blake Cooper from “The Maze Runner”) recounts how he dreaded his New York family’s summer forays to a lakeside cabin in small-town Rhode Island, where all the available outdoor activities seemed designed to humiliate his athletically challenged,...

The coming of age dramedy is a crowded genre with many seminal works established in the 70s and 80s. It’s tough to therefore see any entries without comparing them to what came first. Some can still find their niche and win audiences over before earning a place besides those former greats, but oftentimes they simply feel too familiar to necessitate a second look. The latter category is a shame because familiarity isn’t always synonymous with “bad.” Take Jim Loach’s Measure of a Man, for instance. Here’s a serviceable film adapted by David Scearce from sports writer Robert Lipsyte’s 1977 semi-autobiographical novel One Fat Summer that possesses many redeemable qualities including a worthwhile, body-positive message. It may objectively succeed in its narrative goal, but subjectively never sets itself apart.

"What's a fat kid like you going to do!?" Great Point Media has debuted a new trailer for the indie coming-of-age drama Measure of a Man, the second film by English filmmaker Jim Loach, who happens to be the son of acclaimed filmmaker Ken Loach. Measure of a Man takes place over one summer where a teenage boy comes to understand who he is and what makes up the "true measure of a man". Blake Cooper stars as Bobby Marks, with an impressive ensemble featuring Judy Greer, Donald Sutherland, Beau Knapp, Liana Liberato, Luke Wilson, Danielle Rose Russell, and Sam Keeley. I'm intrigued by the way the trailer lists films "in the tradition of", one of the first times I've seen that. And this actually looks quite good. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Jim Loach's Measure of a Man, direct from YouTube: Over the course of this emotional roller coaster of a summer,...

J.K. Simmons, Johnny Simmons (no relation), Brittany Snow and Jane Lynch are set to star in Kevin Pollak's comedy "The Late Bloomer" for Eclectic Pictures and Ineffable Pictures. Filming has begun in Los Angeles ahead of a shift to Bulgaria.
Based on Ken Baker's 2001 memoir "Man Made," the story follows the E! news correspondent's experience of going through puberty for the first time at age thirty after having a pituitary tumor removed.
The benign tumor rested against his pituitary gland and delayed his puberty and normal development. Though the tumor's removal restored him to hormonally normal masculinity, it resulted in him having to experience all the effects of puberty over an extremely condensed three-week period.
Johnny Simmons portrays the lead who works as a sex therapist in an office headed by Lynch's character. Snow portrays the girl next door, while J.K. Simmons and Bello play his suffocating parents.

We are survivors of The Glade.
The movie “The Maze Runner” is based on a novel written by James Dashner. The film started with Thomas being brought up from an underground elevator, which later revealed some mysteriously brought a kid up once a month. These children arrived with no memory of their background, including their name. Within this tribe of boys, they managed to survive in this enclosed area called the Glade surrounded by a movable and dangerous walled maze. They hope to uncover the secrets of the maze to explain their losses of memories and the mysteries of the world.
It was a privilege to be invited to be a part of the Glader team to compete in the Spartan race in Malibu earlier this month on behalf of the Fox Home Entertainment and The Maze Runner. As in the movie, I was able to experience the unexpected throughout the entire course.

There aren't many filmmakers who get to take a crack at a major young adult franchise with their first feature film, but director Wes Ball managed to do just that with The Maze Runner, which arrives on Blu-ray and DVD December 16. Based on the popular novel trilogy by James Dashner, The Maze Runner is set in a mysterious and massive maze known as The Glade, where a number of young men find themselves inexplicably trapped, with no memory of how or why they were put there. Dylan O'Brien stars as Thomas, the latest addition to The Glade who may be the one to lead them out of the maze for good.
After working as a graphic artist for several years, Wes Ball makes his directorial debut with The Maze Runner, an ambitious project that managed to win over fans and critics alike, taking in over $330 million at the box office during its theatrical run.

When the Harry Potter franchise split J.K. Rowling's final book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows into two movies, it started a trend that continued in similar franchises such as Twilight, The Hunger Games and Divergent. One young adult franchise that will not be following in those footsteps is The Maze Runner, according to director Wes Ball.
During an interview with Digital Spy, the filmmaker, who is currently prepping his sequel The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, revealed that he won't turn the last book in author James Dashner's trilogy, Death Cure into a two-part finale, stating "there is something off" about turning one book into two movies.
"I think three is the number; beginning, middle, end, that's it. Four? I think there's something off about four. For me, if I have any say in it, there's three movies basically. We're not going to [split a book in two], no way. I...

After bringing in $81 million at the world wide box office, 20th Century Fox quickly announced the The Maze Runner sequel The Scorch Trials. While the sequel will not hit theaters for another year, the studio has released the first official concept art featuring an urban cityscape in ruin. This same art, as you may remember, was revealed this past summer at Comic-Con, but now we get an official hi-res look at it here:
The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials: Concept Art
The Maze Runner director Wes Ball will return to direct The Scorch Trials from a script by T.S. Nowlin, who co-wrote the first film with Noah Oppenheim and Grant Pierce Myers. No cast members are confirmed yet, but it seems likely that the main cast will return, including Dylan O'Brien, Aml Ameen, Ki Hong Lee, Blake Cooper, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Will Poulter and Kaya Scodelario.

Chicago – Yes, the future world of teenage bleakness, so popular in “The Hunger Games” and “Divergent,” now has its own genre. “The Maze Runner” is an excellent entry, and gets over its stilted dialogue and scary monsters by adding in surprises and atmospheric mystery.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
The ending of the film – even though it screams sequel – has a heart-pounding twist rooted in what-is-happening-here audacity, which started as a weird story of kids stuck in a wooded field in the middle of a gigantic mechanical maze. This is enough to fulfill the dark environment of yet another view into society’s lost future, which is apparently not influenced by anyone over 30 years of age (shades of the 1960s! Groovy!). Notable are the lead young actors creating the situation, especially Dylan O’Brien (MTV’s “Teen Wolf”) and the always-welcome Will Poulter (“We’re the Millers”).

He has no memory of his past and does not know why he has been brought there. Free of romance, the male-targeted adaptation of James Dashner's popular series features a racially diverse cast (in text and onscreen) of archetypal male characters, played by Dylan O’Brien, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Will Poulter, Aml Ameen, Ki Hong Lee, Blake Cooper and Dexter

In this day and age we, as a society, have become obsessed with the idea of a post-apocalyptic life. This has created an enormous output of post-apocalyptic young adult fiction titles. From I Am Legend to The Road, and from World War Z to The Hunger Games, these fiction titles have been transposed to film for the good of both movie fans and producers alike. The latest installment in this craze is The Maze Runner. The novel by James Dashner, on which the film is based, is the first book in a trilogy about a group of boys that live inside of a maze. Too vague?
The Maze Runner centers around Thomas (Dylan O’Brien), a young man without any memory, except for his name. He is thrown into the middle of “The Glade,” a society of only boys that exists in the center of a maze. Day in and day out,...

Director: Wes Ball; Screenwriters: Noah Oppenheim, Grant Pierce Myers, Ts Nowlin; Starring: Dylan O'Brien, Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Aml Ameen; Running time: 113 mins; Certificate: Tbc
Based on the first book in James Dashner's popular book series, The Maze Runner aims to inject a shot of adrenaline into the Young Adult genre that's surged in popularity since the Twilight movies. There's no supernatural romance here, however. This is a fairly straight-up, boys' own action movie about survival in an enclosed community called the Glade.
Teen Wolf's Dylan O'Brien leads the cast as Thomas, who gets his memory wiped before being thrust into the group of boys left to fend for themselves in an unknown location. Each day the walls surrounding the Glade open up to reveal a maze and the best athletes in the group - "runners" - enter in a bid to find a way out.

Almost any film can end up with a sleekly edited trailer, but film clips are different. Sure, they’re completely out of context, but there’s no better way to get a good sense of tone and the potential of the performances than by seeing a more comprehensive version of a scene. 20th Century Fox just unveiled three brand new clips from their September 19th release, The Maze Runner, and if their intensity is any indication, the full feature is going to be one heck of a film. Hit the jump to catch all three The Maze Runner clips as well as a featurette of author James Dashner touring the set of the film. Let’s start with this one via IGN: How good is that? Again, it’s completely out of context and you don’t even know these characters yet, but thanks to a spot-on shot selection, powerful...

After meeting the Gladers with yesterday's featurette, we have four new TV spots for The Maze Runner that focuses on each key player. Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) reveals that he doesn't want to spend the rest of his life in The Glade, while we learn that Teresa (Kaya Scodelario) is the only female and the final Glader. We also learn that Gally (Will Poulter) is the Keeper of the Builders, and Alby (Aml Ameen) was the first to arrive, who doesn't think anyone should enter the maze.
These new spots also feature some of the deadly creatures that reside within this terrifying maze in director Wes Ball's adaptation of the James Dashner novel, in theaters September 19.

Admittedly I was hoping this thing was “Meet the Gladers” as in meet the characters of the film, but it’s still nice to see how well the ensemble cast gets along. Rather than introduce us to Thomas, Gally, Teresa, Minho and Newt, we get to hear about Dylan O’Brien, Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelario, Ki Hong Lee and Thomas Brodie-Sangter’s experience making The Maze Runner, which apparently was a particularly enjoyable shoot. The film marks Wes Ball’s feature directorial debut and he seems like he was pretty happy on set too, so hopefully the fun of making it winds up translating into a high quality film. A lost and disoriented Dylan O’Brien is guided by Aml Ameen on the rules of the Glade in the first released clip from Wes Ball‘s “The Maze Runner.” Based on the 2009 New York Times best-selling novel by James Dashner, “The Maze Runner” centers on a group of young boys who are trapped inside the Glade, an open space that is surrounded by a massive ever-changing, monster-inhabited maze. Unlike the first two trailers, which mainly focused on Thomas (played by O’Brien), this clip introduces us to another pivotal character: Alby.
