Alexandra Shipp made her debut as Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse, before returning as the weather-manipulating mutant hero in what would turn out to be the final X-Men movie of the 20th Century Fox era before the Disney/Marvel takeover, Dark Phoenix.
Shipp did a pretty good job with what she had to work with, which, by the actress' own admission, wasn't very much.
“I would and I wouldn’t," Shipp replied when asked if she'd like to play Storm again in a 2019 interview. "Because Storm barely has anything to say as it is. I don’t know about [the other actors] but like we never talk. So it would be really nice if we weren’t piled into yet another jam-packed cast, in which you only see me in the back of the shot like f*cking sasquatch.”
The Barbie star was asked if her stance had changed at all last year.
"Not interested.

High-end fashion, jewelry and watch brands are more aligned with Hollywood A-listers than ever before, as even the smallest red carpet would demonstrate these days. In her nearly 50-year career, Jamie Lee Curtis says she’s only improvised one single line: “Make good choices.” These are the words her character, Dr. Tess Coleman, yelled out the car window to her daughter Anna (Lindsay Lohan) in the 2003 body-swap comedy Freaky Friday. That beloved, heavily-memed quote is brought back for the new sequel, Freakier Friday, which reunites Curtis and Lohan. Only now, things are a little different: Anna is the one shouting “Make good choices!” and consequently mortifying her own teenage daughter, Harper (Julia Butters). Tess sits behind the wheel,...

Aubrey Plaza’s call sheet is about to get a lot longer, as she’s come on to produce and star in “The Heidi Fleiss Story.”
Plaza will portray the infamous “Hollywood madam” Heidi Fleiss, busted in the early ‘90s for what was said to be the world’s largest high-end prostitution ring – which implicated Hollywood, politicians and other power figures.
The project marks the directorial debut of Leah Rachel (creator of Netflix’s “Chambers”). The film hails from Pinky Promise, Jessamine Burgum and Kara Durrett’s production company.
Heatseeking actress and Gen Z icon Rachel Sennott co-wrote the script with Rachel and Travis Jackson. Their take on the tabloid sensation follows Fleiss before trial, scrambling around Los Angeles trying to blackmail and leverage various connections to get the case dropped, with the help of an aspiring young writer named Jaclyn.
Production is set for Los Angeles in the coming months.

Margaret Qualley and Shia Labeouf‘s brief and controversial relationship ended almost as quickly as it began. The pair were first linked in December 2020 after co-starring, naked, in the Nsfw music video for “Love Me Like You Hate Me,” a project created by Qualley’s sister, Rainey. Their onscreen chemistry quickly turned into real-life Pda, as the two were spotted kissing at Lax and spending time together around Los Angeles (via The Daily Mail).
But the whirlwind romance collided with a big scandal just weeks later. In the same month their relationship became public, Labeouf’s ex-girlfriend, musician FKA Twigs, as reported by The New York Times, filed a lawsuit accusing him of “relentless abuse.” The allegations included emotional manipulation, physical assault, and knowingly transmitting an Std.
As the legal drama unfolded, insiders reported that Qualley’s close family, particularly her mother, actress Andie MacDowell, was concerned about the relationship from the start.

Zach Cregger’s (the mastermind behind Barbarian) chilling tale of Weapons, proves that the scariest stories are often the ones rooted in truth. Starring the talented Julia Garner and Benedict Wong, this upcoming horror film, although a work of fiction, is said to be based on real-life cases of missing children.
While Weapons isn’t a direct retelling of any one case, The Direct has confirmed that Cregger’s personal experiences and real-world horrors helped shape the film’s disturbing narrative. After all, the US Child Crime Prevention & Safety Center reports that a child goes missing or is abducted every 20 seconds in the United States.
Therefore, taking inspiration from the horror of several such high-profile cases of missing children from across history, Zach Cregger crafted this film that reflects a dark reality many parents fear every day. From the infamous Madeleine McCann case to the disappearance of the Etan Patz,...

Lenore Zann, the voice of Rogue in X-Men: The Animated Series andX-Men ‘97, has finally explained her issue with Fox’s live-action portrayal of the character. She even has some crucial advice for whoever next takes over the mantle of Rogue in the MCU’s looming live-action X-Men movie, which will be directed by Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*). Anna Paquin previously played the character in live-action, first debuting in the X-Men movies of the early 2000s.
Collider’s Maggie Lovitt recently moderated a panel at FanX's Tampa Bay Comic Convention for Zann, and a fan in attendance asked if she had any direction to give Rogue’s next live-action actor. She didn’t hesitate to suggest, “Watch X-Men: The Animated Series, then X-Men '97. That would be my number one thing to say.” She then went into detail about her gripes with how Fox handled Rogue in the Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart-led X-Men movies,...

In the surreal horror-sci-fi trip, The Substance, which saw Margaret Qualley crawling out of Demi Moore’s spine as Sue, a younger, seemingly perfect version of Moore’s character, both actresses had rather bizarre experiences. For Qualley, this movie wasn’t just about acting.
She told Cosmopolitan there was a much deeper meaning behind it.
The movie is not a good touchstone for what femininity is—it is quite masculine in a lot of ways.
As the movie focused more on the idealized version of a female body and beauty standards, Qualley felt the true message behind the film was rather masculine than empowering.
Despite its focus on womanhood and beauty standards, the film doesn’t reflect what she sees as true femininity. Therefore, Qualley critiqued The Substance for representing femininity through an external gaze. That’s what left her traumatized by the experience.

A year after “The Substance” made a splash at Cannes and swept awards season, star Margaret Qualley has reflected on why the project was something of “a nightmare” for her.
In the film, Qualley played Sue, the younger version of aging actress Elizabeth (Demi Moore), who battles to take the (literal) spotlight from her spawn. The sci-fi film landed Moore an array of Best Actress nods, including a nomination at the Oscars.
Qualley told Cosmopolitan that “The Substance” made her confront “generations of trauma” within her own family. Qualley’s mother is fellow actress Andie MacDowell, who actually counts Moore as another former co-star (the duo were in “St. Elmo’s Fire” together).
“’The Substance’ was like entering the eye of the storm. It was like dealing with all of my shit, my mom’s shit, generations of trauma,” Qualley said. “It was a nightmare, being this idyllic, youthful fembot. No...

Zach Cregger’s Weapons isn’t just his next horror movie, but also an expansion of his interconnected work. Barbarian shocked the audience in 2022 with its unsettling tale, but the movie’s end and its reference on Weapons’ promotional website, maybrookmissing.com, suggest that these films exist in the same universe.
This is a possible link that would show how the crimes exposed in Barbarian ripple into the events of Weapons. So, let’s understand the former’s twisted ending, and then look at how it sets the stage for the upcoming horror feature, starring award-winning talents like Julia Garner and Josh Brolin.

Happy Gilmore 2 hit Netflix last week, and although the film has been a major hit for the streamer in the viewership column, it makes some controversial decisions with the story. Easily the most talked-about plot point is the death of Virginia (Julie Bowen), which happens between films but is shown early in the sequel. Virginia died after being hit with a golf ball via an errant shot from Happy (Adam Sandler).
Sandler recently caught up with The Hollywood Reporter about the decision to kill Bowen’s Virginia. Before going into details about Happy Gilmore 2, Sandler praised Bowen’s work as a professional, “We love Julie. She’s just a great vibe and a great person. We love working with her, and we did the first one and Hubie Halloween.” Sandler then explained the decision to kill Virginia, saying, “We just knew we needed Happy to have to overcome something in this story.

Hardly a minute goes by in Happy Gilmore 2 without a celebrity randomly showing up for a cameo — from Eminem to Guy Fieri to Margaret Qualley to Post Malone to a ton of real-life pro golfers who presumably never fought any elderly game show hosts during tournaments.
One of the biggest stars to appear in the sequel is three-time Super Bowl champion/zero-time reading champion Travis Kelce, who was one of the earliest cameos to be confirmed by Adam Sandler.
But is it also possible that Kelce’s superstar girlfriend was also in the movie, and most of us just didn’t notice?
Now that Happy Gilmore 2 is out, we know that Kelce plays a dickish golf club restaurant server who fires Bad Bunny’s busboy character, Oscar, thus paving the way for him to become Happy’s new caddy.
Kelce's most memorable scene comes when Happy asks Oscar...

The upcoming horror movie, Weapons, with a rare 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, is directed by the acclaimed Zach Cregger. But what you might not know is that Weapons and Cregger’s breakout horror Barbarian are based in the same universe. One of its promotional strategies is the in-universe website named maybrookmissing.net, and an article on the site references the events of Barbarian.
The movie has already created a lot of buzz for its chilling premise and amazing performances by actors like Julia Garner. From cryptic trailers to breadcrumbs and structural similarities, everything is pointing towards a larger web. So, Weapons is not a direct sequel to Barbarian, but it is certainly part of the same terrifying world.

While Marvel Studios is currently busy with the ambitious Avengers: Doomsday production and the start of work on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the company is always looking to the future. Ever since the earliest days of its conception, there had always been a loose plan for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and which projects would be tackled next. With Fantastic Four: First Steps now released in theaters, one of the next projects being meticulously developed is the X-Men. Now, a new report has indicated that most casting rumors for the highly anticipated re-introduction of Mutants may not be true.

Who knew that a movie about 17 missing students and their teacher as their prime suspect would be inspired by Tom Cruise‘s darkest movie yet? Not the whole movie, of course, but Weapons, by up-and-coming horror director Zach Cregger, was definitely inspired by Paul Thomas Anderson‘s 1999 film, Magnolia.
In an interview with Collider, Cregger shared that Magnolia was a very big inspiration for his movie, and especially the cold open of the PTA film with all the energetic camera zooms and swinging were heavily discussed for Weapons. It seems to have worked out in favor since having 12 early reviews, Weapons has already received 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Magnolia was a big inspiration for this movie. And the cold open of Magnolia is another montage with really energetic camera moves and zooms on a dolly, and all kinds of swinging, and it’s just never stationary.

Blue Moon Trailer: Ethan Hawke Harshes Andrew Scott’s Mellow In Richard Linklater’s Lorenz Hart Film
Over the last thirty years, Richard Linklater and Ethan Hawke have cemented their status as one of cinema's all-time great director-star duos with their work on movies like the Before trilogy, Boyhood, Tape, and Waking Life. Their latest team-up, Blue Moon, finds Linklater and Hawke turning the clocks back to the evening of 31 March, 1943 for a historical chamber piece centred around feted lyricist Lorenz Hart (a bald-cap sporting Hawke) and the drama that unfolds at the afterparty of his former collaborator Richard Rodgers' (Andrew Scott) new show, Oklahoma! Check out the trailer below;
"We write together for a quarter of a century and the first show he writes with someone else is gonna be the biggest hit he ever had," bemoans Hawke's Hart to Bobby Cannavale's Sardi barman at the start of this slick first Blue Moon trailer. "Am I bitter? Yes!" As tone-setters go, played out against a sprightly,...

Quentin Tarantino's 2019 movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, has a sequel in the works. Dubbed The Adventures of Cliff Booth, the sequel is written by Tarantino, but David Fincher is taking over as director.
Brad Pitt returns as the titular lead in The Adventures of Cliff Booth. The movie has just started filming, and set photos are starting to emerge on social media of Pitt's return as Cliff. In the images, Pitt can be seen sporting a different hairstyle compared to the last time viewers saw him in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He appears to be in a location that's been made up to look like a movie theater.

Adam Sandler can do very little wrong when it comes to his run of Netflix movies, as even if not everyone likes them, millions still tune in to watch them. His long-awaited return as Happy Gilmore, in the imaginatively titled Happy Gilmore 2, is no exception to the rule. With a mixed set of reviews from critics, and only slightly better reaction from audiences, Sandler has still been breaking records.
Happy Gilmore 2 is certainly not one of the most disastrous Adam Sandler movies to land on Netflix in the last several years, and managed to scrape a fresh rating from the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer (on 64% at the time of writing). Audiences were a little happier with Happy, but the 70% score on the Popcornmeter is nowhere near the 85% of the 1996 original movie.
Despite that, Happy Gilmore 2 was watched 46.7 million times in its first three days, which not only makes...

In the official trailer for Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon, Lorenz Hart (Ethan Hawke) is killing the vibe. The famed lyricist is settled at the bar in the Broadway staple restaurant Sardi’s, following his sorrows to the bottom of a bottle as he watches his former collaborator Richard Rodgers (Andrew Scott) celebrate.
Rodgers and Hart were once a great duo, creating American songbook classics “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered,” “My Funny Valentine,” “Falling in Love With Love,” and more together in the early years of their partnership. But this was...

Sony Pictures Classics has debuted the first trailer for Blue Moon, its songwriter drama marking the ninth collaboration between filmmaker Richard Linklater and actor Ethan Hawke, which is slated to hit theaters in Los Angeles and New York on October 17, before expanding nationwide on October 24.
Written by Robert Kaplow, author of the novel Me and Orson Welles — which inspired the Linklater film of the same name — Blue Moon profiles the final days of Lorenz Hart (Hawke), part of the hit songwriting team Rodgers & Hart. The film is set primarily in Sardi’s Restaurant on March 31, 1943, the opening night of Oklahoma!, which marked Rodgers’ first collaboration with Oscar Hammerstein II as Hart’s replacement.
Also starring Margaret Qualley (The Substance), Bobby Cannavale (Ezra) and Andrew Scott (Ripley), the film premiered at this year’s Berlin Film Festival, where Scott won the Silver Bear for Best Supporting Performance, for his turn as Rodgers.

Director Zach Cregger’s upcoming supernatural horror film Weapons is all set to release in August. Therefore, in an interview with Next Best Picture, he was asked to address the similarities between his film and the 2014 drama series The Leftovers. Cregger said:
There’s no easy explanation ever given for what exactly happens or why. And even when there was, the audience was still left to have their own meaning and interpretations still for what it meant for them.
These associations in similarity stem from the fact that both productions have the same plot device of mass disappearances and their aftermath. While the show, starring Margaret Qualley, took the more dramatic approach, the film will be a full-fledged psychological horror.

"Everybody's in love with her..." Sony Pictures Classics has revealed the main trailer for Richard Linklater's new film Blue Moon, one of two brand new Linklater movies from this year. Blue Moon first premiered at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival (aka Berlinale) earlier in the year, while his French take on Jean-Luc Godard titled Nouvelle Vague premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival a few months ago. Blue Moon is out first - in theaters starting in October this fall. On the evening of March 31st, 1943, legendary lyricist Lorenz Hart confronts his shattered self-confidence in the famous Sardi's bar as his former collaborator Richard Rodgers celebrates the opening night of his ground-breaking hit musical "Oklahoma!" on Broadway. Richard Linklater and Ethan Hawke are up there with Martin Scorsese and De Niro, even Alfred Hitchcock and James Stewart, as one of cinema’s iconic perennial pairings. From the “Before” films and “Waking Life” to “Boyhood” (which earned Hawke an Oscar nomination) and even the underseen motel-room-only Dv thriller “Tape,” they’re operating on an alchemy rare for onscreen director-actor collaborators.
Their latest project together is “Blue Moon,” which may distract at first for the bald cap Hawke wears to play desperate, boozing songwriter Lorenz Hart. But underneath that feat of movie makeup magic is one of Hawke’s most wistful, poignant performances, here as the great American lyricist who was one half of Rodgers and Hart before a creative split.

So much hay was made of Richard Linklater’s Cannes-premiering Nouvelle Vague that you’re liable to forget, just three months prior, his debuting Blue Moon at the Berlinale. Sony Pictures Classics will begin its theatrical release (already putting it one step above the Godard biopic’s Netflix deal) October 17, ahead of which is a trailer featuring Ethan Hawke, Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale, and Silver Bear winner Andrew Scott.
As David Katz said in his review, “Blue Moon, which world-premiered at the Berlinale, is another beautifully personal work from Linklater, full of authorial idiosyncrasies and tics, but distinguishing the film from his corpus is it being the kind you can only make at a mature career stage. Nearly 30 years after the original “Happy Gilmore,” its sequel hit Netflix this weekend, and among the many cameos in it, one is hitting fans directly in the heart: Cameron Boyce.
Boyce played Sandler’s son in the “Grown Ups” films, and sadly, the actor died in 2019 at the age of 20. In 2020, Sandler included an homage to Boyce at the end of his film “Hubie Halloween,” and in “Happy Gilmore 2,” he made sure his onscreen son was included once again.
Early in the film, Happy heads to a local golf course to start shaking off the rust and practice for an upcoming tournament. As he approaches the stand to check in, the employees can be seen watching an episode of “Jessie,” the Disney Channel series where Boyce rose to fame. It’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, but the credits of “Happy Gilmore 2” confirm the footage from Disney.

The release of “Happy Gilmore 2,” the Netflix sequel to the 1996 comedy hit, is just days away. While Hollywood hot shots might be sweating audience awareness polls or gauging social media chatter, Tim Herlihy — who co-wrote both films with star Adam Sandler — has a more pressing concern: catching up with yard work at his quiet Connecticut home.
You might not know Herlihy’s name, but you’ve laughed at his jokes. His movies with Sandler, often featuring characters in various states of arrested development, have topped $3 billion at the box office. Think classics like “Billy Madison” and “The Wedding Singer.” The pair pivoted to streaming in 2015, with Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions signing a megadeal with Netflix that’s led to such films as “The Ridiculous 6” and “Hubie Halloween.”

Considering past misbegotten sequels to Adam Sandler movies like Grown Ups 2 and Murder Mystery 2, I am not quite sure why it took the star three long decades to fire up one for arguably his best comedy and most memorable character, 1996’s Happy Gilmore. He even named his production company after it for chrissakes. But now fans who have waited a very long time for a second round with the angry but always watchable movie golf icon get a sweet payoff with Happy Gilmore 2.
Considering the mostly upbeat results here I am surprised Netflix held back critics until just a handful of hours before the film started streaming at midnight. There are more than enough Lol moments and multitudes of big-name cameos, as well as devotion to the original and exactly what fans of both the first movie — as well as golf itself — will eat up. Plot: Twenty-nine years after winning his first Tour Championship, retired golfer Happy Gilmore returns to the sport to pay for his daughter Vienna’s ballet school.
Review (Warning: contains mild spoilers): When Happy Gilmore hit theaters in 1996, I was a dumb high schooler who had loved the idiocy of Adam Sandler’s Billy Madison and hoped for more of the sophomoric shenanigans that film delivered. Reteaming with Billy Madison co-writer Tim Herlihy, Happy Gilmore was a hilariously stupid sports movie with Sandler’s trademark yelling and bizarre jokes wrapped in an underdog tale. Naming his production company after his first two hit films, Adam Sandler has gone on to make dozens of similar movies interspersed with acclaimed movies like Punch-Drunk Love and Uncut Gems. After three decades, Sandler and Herlihy have returned to give audiences the long-awaited Happy Gilmore 2, which replicates the heartfelt stupidity of the original movie...

On the rink, he was a tough player who could have used a few skating lessons. On the green, however, Happy Gilmore’s killer slap shot helped him score the kind of long drives that could make Mike Austin scream profanity out of frustration. Hockey’s loss became golf’s gain, and Gilmore’s domination on the championship tour gave the PGA a shot of pure rock & roll energy right up its tight, white ass. Not even the furious fists of Bob Barker could slow down Happy’s ascent to sports legend.

Set your expectations appropriately, and “Happy Gilmore 2” is pretty much par for the course. Hold too tightly to your love of the original, and the sequel shanks into the drink for bogey.
The 29-years-later follow-up to 1996’s beloved gonzo golf comedy “Happy Gilmore,” one of the films that launched Adam Sandler’s big-screen stardom, is kinder, gentler and much older (if not wiser) than the original. It’s a palpable vibe shift. Even when the new film drops callbacks to the first one and trots out some gags reminiscent of its predecessor, its roll is slower. Sweeter. Nicer. And that’s not great for a Happy Gilmore movie.
Gone are the first film’s signature blistering tantrums. Come on, you loved them. We all did. It was flat-out fun watching young Happy absolutely lose it on the course as the establishment looked on in horror. In the sequel, he...

After waiting patiently for almost three decades, Adam Sandler is teeing up once again as beloved character Happy Gilmore in the long-awaited comedy sequel, Happy Gilmore 2. The follow-up, which finds Happy returning to the golf course once again after all these years, has now landed on Netflix, with the oft-angry golfer coming out swinging with audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
The sequel is now available to stream on Netflix, with some audiences eager to catch up with Happy after all this time. And, in a surprise to cinematic cynics, Happy Gilmore 2 may well have been worth the wait. The sequel now stands at a solid 72% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes’ Popcornmeter meaning, while it doesn’t quite live up to the first movie’s 85%, it’s far from the comedic disaster that many expected.

Adam Sandler reprises his role as the volatile hockey player-turned-golfer in Happy Gilmore 2, a sequel that arrives nearly three decades after the original film established itself as a cultural touchstone. The 1996 movie changed the perception of golf for a generation, transforming it from a staid sport into a chaotic battleground and cementing Sandler’s comedic formula of the lovable, blue-collar man-child. Produced by Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions for Netflix, the film marks the first direct sequel to any of Sandler’s classic 1990s comedies, a notable decision for an actor who, for years, dismissed the idea. The sequel finds its purpose not in simple repetition, but in exploring the character through the lens of aging, fatherhood, and legacy, themes that align with Sandler’s own career evolution into more dramatic roles.
A New Purpose on the Fairway
The film picks up with Happy Gilmore long retired from the professional golf tour.
