Hulk's Ultimate Form Forever Changed the Meaning of His Codename - Here's How
Image
Millenia before the cataclysmic birth of the Hulk, the deepest and foulest of all Devils enacted a plan to birth and foster a creature of immeasurable fate. Eons after cultivating its ultimate avatar of destruction, the titanous being has swelled to the size of planets. Now existing as a hollow puppet designed to house hate incarnate, the Hulk’s “Green Goliath” nickname has an entirely different meaning than before.

Throughout Al Ewing and Joe Bennet’s Immortal Hulk series, Ewing explored the Hulk through a theological point of view, vastly expanding Hulk’s lore. Introduced to the Marvel Universe’s ultimate god of destruction, the One Below All, the Hulk and every other gamma mutate were revealed to be connected to the god as avatars for its immeasurable hate.

However, among them all, only the Hulk is considered the true doorway for the One Below All to enter into the living realm.

A Complete Guide to The Hulks' Many Powers And Why Each One Matters
Image
While every Hulk is born through exposure to extreme amounts of gamma radiation, not every Hulk ends up with the same powers.

In addition to their shared immortality, these avatars of the One-Below-All are each bestowed unique gifts of destruction. While gamma mutates’ may possess many different infernal blessings, fortunately, these powers can be categorized into more specific classifications.

These powersets are certainly open to alterations depending on the story and writer, but overall consistency is kept in mind. Sure, every Hulk is prone to some mindless smashing; Many gained the propensity after absorbing Bruce Banner’s runoff gamma energy. But what we’re talking about is what makes them different.

Emboldened by its user’s gamma physiology, each power is designed to reap different types of destruction. Remember, on the cosmic scale, Hulks aren’t accidentally made, they are avatars of the One-Below-All’s destructive nature. These profane gifts...

Absolute Power Boldly Flips DC's Least Justified Superhero Clich
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Absolute Power #3 ahead!Amanda Waller's assault on the world of DC Comics has been so devastating, it has accidentally broken one of DC's greatest unspoken clichs. With the fate of all superheroes on the line, Waller faces resistance not just from the usual DC roster but also from heroes who readers haven't even heard of - because they aren't American.

The situation is bleak in Absolute Power #3 by Mark Waid and Dan Mora. The bulk of DC's heroes are launching desperate rescue missions from the haven of Themiscyra, while Waller and Failsafe have cowed most of the world's governments. But not all hope is lost: when one of Waller's Amazos chases down Zealot, Cassandra Cain, and Black Orchid, rescue comes unexpectedly in the form of two new heroes.

The newcomers - Cadejos and Rana Dorada - are implied to be superheroes from Central America, giving readers...

Hulk Just Undid Bruce Banner’s Biggest Achievement (And His Best Story)
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Hulk #13The current Hulk ongoing storyline, which saw Bruce Banner transform his green alter ego into a multi-dimensional starship, is coming to a close. With the revelation of one of its biggest mysteries, it's clear that this Hulk series completely disregarded the conclusion of its predecessor Immortal Hulk, and undid all the progress and character development that Bruce Banner made in that critically-acclaimed story.

Hulk #13, by Ryan Ottley, Cliff Rathburn, and Marte Gracia, finally reveals when, how, and why Bruce Banner decided to transform Hulk into a starship. Based on what the story showed until now, readers believed that this decision was triggered by "the El Paso incident", in which Bruce killed a bar full of patrons. However, it is now revealed that Bruce's decision to build a "mind palace" to lock the Hulk away in a corner of his mind while keeping full control of his...
