'Prison Break' Leaves Netflix Next Month
Image
It’s been only a year since Prison Break returned to Netflix globally, allowing subscribers outside the US to enjoy all five seasons and ninety episodes, which we’ve now learned will be leaving the streamer again soon. Created by Paul Scheuring for Fox, the crime drama debuted on August 29, 2005, and concluded with a nine-episode fifth season that ran from April 4 to May 30, 2017. As part of a content licensing deal with Disney for legacy Fox titles, Netflix re-added the hit action thriller to its catalog for a single year, which is set to end next month. With that, Prison Break will not be available to subscribers in all international regions, including Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, all of Latin America, Europe,...

Naomi Scott's 86% Rotten Tomatoes Horror Sequel Is a Hit on Streaming
Image
Horror fans are smiling. This past week, Netflix added to its catalog a horror movie that was a standout in movie theaters, and subscribers had been dying to watch it or give it a second viewing. The result was predictable: Smile 2is now among the top 10 most-watched movies on the streaming platform this week. This time, the story follows music superstar Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) as she gets hit with the curse that makes everyone around her do terrible things – all with a smile on their faces.

Back when the first movie premiered in 2022, the concept of Smilewas already sinister enough. In the sequel, however, director and screenwriter Parker Finn (Smile) found a way to make it even more disturbing, with some death scenes that viewers will remember forever. One of them involves Lukas Gage (Companion) and a weight plate in a scene that you have to see to believe.

After Losing Guy Ritchie, Amazon's Sequel to Hit Action Remake Gets Exciting Update
Image
After losing fan-favorite action filmmaker Guy Ritchie, Amazon MGM Studios has moved quickly to find a new director for Road House 2. Less than a month later, the studio may have found the perfect replacement director for the action sequel.

According to Deadline, Ilya Naishuller is in negotiations to take over as director of Road House 2. While Naishuller's name may not be as recognizable as Ritchie's, the filmmaker's work speaks for itself. After wowing audiences with his sci-fi action movie Hardcore Henry (2015), which was shot entirely from the first-person perspective of its lead character, Naishuller directed the 2021 action thriller Nobody, which stars Bob Odenkirk as a former assassin thrust back into his old life. His most recent directorial effort, Heads of State, premiered just three weeks ago on Prime Video. The action comedy, which is headlined by Idris Elba and John Cena, has so far been a major...

'Road House 2' Replaces Guy Ritchie With 'Nobody' Director Ilya Naishuller
Image
The Road House sequel recently hit a massive roadblock, but it appears Amazon has quickly found a solution to their problems. Guy Ritchie, originally slated to helm Road House 2, is no longer attached to the project. A few weeks after his departure, the studio has recruited a familiar filmmaker to handle directing duties on the action flick.

Deadline reports that Ilya Naishuller (Nobody) is in talks to direct Road House 2, the sequel to the 2024 remake starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Amazon MGM Studios is looking to bring back the Heads of State director into the fold for the highly-anticipated follow-up, which will see Gyllenhaal return in the lead role. It's unclear if anyone else from the first film will reprise their roles, but it was recently reported that Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune star Dave Bautista was slated to join the upcoming action sequel. ‘Prison Break’ Star, 55, Provides Definitive Answer on Potential Reboot Return
Image
Prison Break was revived — and not for the first time — on Netflix last year when it was added to the platform and topped Nielsen charts for months straight. This prompted Hulu to greenlight a Prison Break reboot near the end of 2024, one that reportedly had no plans to bring back any former Prison Break stars. However, this didn’t stop fans from speaking their mind, with many calling for original stars Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller to return as Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows. Purcell, who is also known for his work as Mick Rory in DC’s Arrowverse, decided he’s heard enough. Purcell took to his personal Instagram to definitively respond to the rumors, shutting them down and confirming he will not return in the Prison Break reboot.

The Prison Break reboot is reportedly set in the same universe as the original Prison Break, but featuring all-new characters.
