Every Wattpad Movie & TV Show Ever Made
Image
Many writers got their start on the online story-sharing site Wattpad, and these Wattpad original stories have all been adapted into movies and TV shows. Since fandom activities began to grow with the release of the original Star Trek series and the prevalence of conventions, there has been fanfiction. Many websites have cropped up over the years that have allowed fans to stretch their creativity through fanfiction, like Archive of Our Own and Wattpad. Both platforms also allow writers to share original writing, hone their craft, and grow an audience.

Because of the growing popularity of Wattpad among writers, there are many writers who have utilized the platform to allow their audience to find them online. They self-publish their stories or can even end up finding an agent because of that audience. There are a handful of those writers who have gone on to become bestsellers or see their work adapted for the screen.

The Correct Order To Watch The After Movies
Image
Do you want to watch the "After" movies but you're not quite sure where to logistically begin? I may be able to lend a hand with that.

For the uninitiated, the "After" film series is based on author Anna Todd's book series of the same name — and the backstory here is actually pretty wild. Todd, who once wrote under the username Imaginator1D on the fanfiction site Wattpad, penned "After" as a story about a regular girl who ends up in a torrid, steamy romance with Harry Styles Fanfiction making the leap into legitimate literary territory isn't anything new; "Fifty Shades of Grey" began its life as a work of "Twilight" fanfiction, a fact that I cannot ever possibly unlearn. Knowing that the "After" series is about a very real person, though, might feel a little strange when you sit down to read or watch the stories.

In any case,...

Dylan Arnold's 10 Best Movies And TV Shows

Dylan Arnold is a relative newcomer to the entertainment industry. While hes been active in the industry professionally since 2010, most of his early work is in short films that havent been made available to the general public. 2012 saw his big break with the movie Fat Kid Rules The World after attending the University of North Carolinas School of the Arts.

Its only in the last few years that Arnold has found himself in projects that could really propel his career forward. Hes been in some of the most popular Netflix movies and TV shows of the last few years. Most recently, hes also appeared in an AppleTV+ series and has more short films on the way, but these are the best projects of his career so far.

Tyrese Gibson Brings 'Triggering' Memories to 1992 Performance
Image
We spoke to famed rapper and actor Tyrese Gibson amid the release of 1992, his gripping new crime thriller set against a tense Los Angeles backdrop during the titular early-'90s era. The city rightfully erupted in protest once the officers involved in the merciless beating of Rodney King were acquitted, and Gibson's new film sees him in the gripping lead role as a dad in distress trying to protect his son against racism and a coincidental heist happening at his character's workplace.

Gibson is a Watts native and spoke to MovieWeb about bringing real-life experience to 1992, which also stars Scott Eastwood and the late, great Ray Liotta. He said, "It wasn't really a role for me. It was life. I was in South Central, Watts in '92, I was out there protesting, looting, rioting. So was Snoop Dogg, and that's also the same year that him and Dr. Dre released The Chronic album.

Ray Liotta's Final Movie Debuts With 93% Audience Score On Rotten Tomatoes
Image
1992, Ray Liotta's last movie, has arrived, and it will end his career with praise. The actor was known for his performances in Field of Dreams, Hannibal, Goodfellas, and more. He died suddenly and unexpectedly in his sleep at 67 years old in 2022. He was working on the production for Dangerous Waters and never lived to see it finished. He has had several movies released after his death, including an edited version of Cocaine Bear. His final movie tells the stories of two small families living through the 1992 LA riots.

With 1992 finally in theaters, audiences had the opportunity to see Liotta's final performance, and the response has been nothing but praise. With a 94% score on the Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter, it has earned a Hot designation, represented by a full and upright bucket of popcorn. The critics were less favorable, though still offered a 67% Tomatometer score. Both scores are positive, but the 27% difference is stark.

1992 Review: Bumbling Heist Story Overshadows Areas of Real Interest
Image
There's a striking moment in 1992, among many, where the lead crook played by Scott Eastwood turns to his younger brother once a robbery opportunity presents itself. "All it took was 12 racist f***s in Simi Valley," he says, now that the city around him has rightfully erupted in protest. The year is 1992, hence the impactful title of the film, and the city is Los Angeles. More specifically, we're in the Watts area of the City of Angels for this new Lionsgate offering from director Ariel Vromen, working off the script he wrote with Sascha Penn.

Eastwood is reliably solid in a leading role, but top billing goes to Tyrese Gibson in perhaps his finest role to date. There are parallel stories that ultimately converge for the latter half of this fictitious tale set against a very once-real backdrop. 1992 sets up an intriguing premise of pitting one father-son duo against another,...

Scott Weighs in on Dad Clint Eastwood's Filmmaking Future
Image
We spoke to Scott Eastwood leading up to the release of 1992, his gripping new heist movie set during a pivotal time in Los Angeles amid the Rodney King riots. Scott's ambitious character's dad is played in the film by the late, great Ray Liotta in one of his final films, so it's wonderfully nostalgic seeing the pair converse and butt heads via their fictional roles on the big screen. In real life, Scott's Oscar-winning dad, Clint Eastwood, has kept busy with a highly anticipated new drama called Juror No. 2, which also stars Clint's daughter Francesca Eastwood and plenty of other big names.

At 94 years old, the world of cinema has to wonder if Juror No. 2 will be Clint's last film or if he'll just keep on trucking. "Look, you can never count out my dad in making another movie," Scott told MovieWeb. "He's been doing it for a long time.

‘1992’ Review: Tyrese Gibson and Ray Liotta Star in a Gutsy, Unexpected Heist Drama
Image
There are moments in Ariel Vroman’s historical drama-heist thriller “1992” that speak volumes, but one that stands out comes from the late Ray Liotta. “1992” was the actor’s last film, and his performance is first rate and terrifying.

Liotta plays Lowell, a safecracker about to steal millions of dollars in precious metals from a factory on April 29, 1992: the day the Los Angeles Uprising began. As the streets fill with righteous anger and windows shatter and fires burn, this career criminal and abusive father, literally en route to commit a felony, looks out at the Black people raging against generations of injustice and — oblivious to any irony — declares that their grievance “doesn’t give them the right to do this. That’s other people’s property.”

Calling a heist movie something like “1992” is a gutsy move, because it tells the world that you’re not just making...

Warning: Some Spoilers lie ahead for Lady in the Lake!

Lady in the Lake's Milton Schwartz, played by Brett Gelman, represents the patriarchal norms of the 1960s era but still shows care and love for his wife Maddie. How ‘Lady in the Lake’ Resists Feeling Like a Whodunnit
Image
“Lady in the Lake” is a study in contrasts. It begins with an appropriately ominous cold open of a corpse being thrown into dark, cold waters outside of Baltimore while the victim herself (Moses Ingram) narrates that a collision of worlds is coming between her and the Jewish housewife (Natalie Portman) who will find her body. Already, that’s a lot.

But coming back from the credits, there’s then a seedy, slightly comic spectacle of a hungover guy in a silver beanie and gigantic cardboard mailbox costume (the ‘60s sure seem weird?) pissing in an alley before jogging back out onto the street and into formation as part of a Christmas Day parade. Then there’s director Alma Har’el’s camera, weaving and dancing its way through the crowded chaos, never quite positioning us in one place or one perspective. Tonally and visually, Har’el continually keeps the audience off-balance.

Real-Life Tessie Durst In ‘Lady In The Lake’ Series: Did Stephan Zawadzkie Kill Tessie?

Apple TV’s Lady in the Lake series begins with the disappearance of a 9-year-old Jewish girl named Tessie Durst, who was visiting the famous Baltimore Thanksgiving parade with her parents and siblings. On her way back, Tessie found an aquarium store on the streets and left her parents behind to buy a seahorse for herself. However, the attendant at the store was a mentally disturbed individual with malicious intentions. As soon as he found Tessie alone, he locked her in the basement and hurt her in the most unimaginable ways. Some two days later, Tessie’s dead body was found near the lake. Though this fictional incident is quite shocking in itself, one might be horrified to know that it is inspired by a real-life incident. ‘Lady in the Lake’ Review: A Murder Mystery That Wades into Murky Waters
Image
Created by Alma Har’el and adapted from Laura Lippman’s crime novel of the same name, Lady in the Lake draws inspiration from two real-life murder cases in 1960s Baltimore. In the opening episode, Tessa disappears while attending a Thanksgiving parade with her parents. Drawn by her fascination with seahorses, the young girl wanders into a tropical fish store, where she encounters the creepy manager, Stephan Zawadzkie (Dylan Arnold), and a Black customer, Reggie Robinson (Josiah Cross). These early episodes, marked by the uncertainties of Tessa’s death, set the stage for the show’s intrigue involving the central mystery.

Oppenheimer's Death Explained: Cause Of Death, How Old He Was & How Long After The Movie He Died
Image
J. Robert Oppenheimer died of throat cancer at 62. Oppenheimer died in 1967, four years after the events of Christopher Nolan's 2023 epic biographical movie. The theoretical physicist's legacy has shifted after his death, sparking debate on his character.

Oppenheimer depicts the life and career of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the theoretical physicist who aided in the development of the first nuclear weapons during World War II, but the movie doesn't explain when and how he died. The epic biographical thriller drama, directed and written by Christopher Nolan, follows Oppenheimer's life from his studies at the University of Cambridge in the mid-1920s to President Lyndon B. Johnson awarding him the Enrico Fermi Award, a lifetime achievement scientific medal, in 1963. Ultimately, Oppenheimer's timeline isn't linear as it jumps back and forth between different periods but still never shows Oppenheimer's death.

Oppenheimer won seven Oscars at the 96th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Christopher Nolan,...

Apple TV+’s ‘Lady in the Lake’ gets intriguingly fantastical new trailer [Watch]
Image
So it turns out Apple TV+’s “Lady in the Lake” looks different than some had expected.

The Natalie Portman-led limited series is described as “a feverish noir thriller and an unexpected tale of the price women pay for their dreams.” Based on the information released so far, it seemed like a 1960s period piece/murder mystery/character drama about an investigative journalist who prioritizes her career over her family.

But the new trailer for the series reveals dreamlike fantasy sequences, narration from beyond the grave, and unsettling psychological thriller flourishes. This is “Black Swan” Portman as much as “Jackie” Portman.

Academy Award winner Portman, who also serves as executive producer, stars as Maddie Schwartz, a Jewish journalist in late ‘60s Baltimore who becomes obsessed with the unsolved murder of Cleo Johnson (“The Queen’s Gambit” breakout Moses Ingram), a Black woman who was found floating in a reservoir. It...

The cast also includes Y’lan Noel, Brett Gelman, Byron Bowers, Noah Jupe, Josiah Cross, Mikey Madison, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Dylan Arnold.

“I saw you once, Maddie Schwartz,” Ingram’s Cleo narrates in the trailer. “Before any of this began, I saw you. Alive, I was Cleo Johnson.

‘Lady in the Lake’ Trailer: Natalie Portman Tries to Untangle Moses Ingram’s Murder in Baltimore-Set Journalism Drama
Image
Natalie Portman is a 1960s housewife turned investigative reporter for the Apple TV+ adaptation of novel “Lady in the Lake.”

Portman stars as Maddie Schwartz, a Jewish divorcée seeking to shed a secret past and reinvent herself as a journalist within a sexist newsroom. The murder of Cleo Johnson (Moses Ingram), a mother navigating the political underbelly of Black Baltimore while struggling to provide for her family, becomes a news story that Maddie just can’t let go of until justice is served.

“Anora” breakout Mikey Madison, Y’lan Noel, Brett Gelman, Dylan Arnold, Byron Bowers, Noah Jupe, Josiah Cross, and Pruitt Taylor Vince also star.

Lupita Nyong’o was originally set to play Cleo, however she exited the project due to unknown circumstances. “Obi-Wan Kenobi” breakout Ingram was cast as Nyong’o’s replacement.

Alma Har’el directs the limited series centered on the price women pay for chasing their dreams, as the official synopsis teased.

Oppenheimer VFX Supervisor Debunks 'Clearly Not True' Reports the Film Doesn't Include Visual Effects

The film also faced challenges while shooting with IMAX cameras, but the cast adapted by doing separate sound takes after each scene. Oppenheimer is now showing in theaters.

While chatting with The Hollywood Reporter, Oppenheimer's VFX supervisor Andrew Jackson reflected on his involvement with the Christopher Nolan film and debunked claims that the historical epic doesn't feature visual effects, something he said "is clearly not true."

Oppenheimer stars Cillian Murphy as theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, the man known for leading the Manhattan Project and often credited as the creator of the atomic bomb.

The Interstellar director's new film also features Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr.,...
