Gkids unveiled the English dub trailer and cast for Naoko Yamada’s latest film, The Colors Within, on Dec 4, 2024.

The announcement comes ahead of the film’s U.S. theatrical release, set for Jan 24, 2025.

The trailer introduces the voices behind the three lead characters, who not only bring their roles to life but also perform new English adaptations of the film’s songs.

The leads include Libby Rue as Totsuko, Kylie McNeill as Kimi, and Eddy Lee as Rui.

In this new film from director Naoko Yamada, a girl who can see colors in people's hearts joins a band with two other people. The synesthete Totsuko can see others as colors. Honor student Kimi has dropped out of school but still pretends to attend anyway. They reunite and form a small band with Rui, who dreams of composing on analog synthesizers but whose mother expects him to become a doctor. Together, they find freedom, joy, love, through music. A Silent Voice Director's New Hit Film Gets Exciting January Update

Earlier this year, The Colors Within -- the latest film by A Silent Voice director Naoko Yamada -- premiered in Japan. North American distributor Gkids has revealed that the film will soon begin its first theatrical run in the U.S. and Canada.

Gkids recently unveiled the film's first official English-language dub trailer along with its official 2025 release date. As detailed on the company's official X (formerly Twitter) page, The Colors Within will arrive in theaters on Jan. 24. Audiences will have the opportunity to choose between the original Japanese version (with subtitles) and the brand-new English dub, which stars Libby Rue (Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island), Kylie McNeill (Belle) and Eddy Lee (Maguia - When the Promised Flower Blooms). Anthony Lapaglia’s Factual Series ‘The Black Hand’ Inks eOne Deal – Global Bulletin

Anthony Lapaglia‘s upcoming factual series “The Black Hand” is set to be distributed internationally by eOne.

The three-part series will explore Australia’s Italian community, looking at the difficulties they face, their politics, the threat of war and the mafia. According to the series synopsis, The Black Hand is the name for a gang of Italian criminals in Australia.

Alan Erson, Lapaglia, Michael Tear exec produce. Adam Grossetti and Kate Pappas produce. “The Black Hand” is directed by Kriv Stenders and written by Grossetti, Stenders and Anya Beyersdorf.

The series was produced by Wildbear Entertainment for ABC in Australia. The deal with eOne excludes Australia and Scandinavia.

“The Black Hand is truly the definition of premium factual,” said Kate Cundall, eOne’s VP for acquisitions. “We’re very excited about the opportunity to take to market a hugely popular genre like true crime with some amazing auspicious.”

‘Kpop’ to Close in December Two Weeks After Opening on Broadway

Kpop, which broke ground on Broadway for its casting and representation of Korean culture, is closing just a few weeks after opening at the Circle in the Square.

The musical, which originally premiered off-Broadway in 2017, will end its run on Dec. 11, the producers announced Tuesday. Written by Jason Kim and directed by Teddy Bergman with music and lyrics by Helen Park and Max Vernon and choreography by Jennifer Weber, Kpop‘s closure follows 44 previews and 17 regular performances.

The final performance will feature a panel discussion celebrating and reflecting on Aapi representation on Broadway. Those panelists include David Henry Hwang, the first Asian American playwright to win a Tony; Kpop‘s Park the first Asian female composer in Broadway history; Korean playwright Hansol Jung; and actor Pun Bandhu. In support of that final performance, 200 complimentary tickets are being offered to Aapi community members and youth.

Broadway’s ‘Kpop’ Sets Closing Notice After Only 17 Performances & 44 Previews

Kpop, the history-making Broadway musical depicting and celebrating the Korean pop genre phenomenon of the title, will play its final performance this Sunday after a struggle at the box office.

The final performance of the musical, which features a cast of young actors and actual K-pop stars including Luna, BoHyung and others, will close after its performance on Sunday, December 11, at Circle in the Square Theatre. It will have played only 17 regular performances after 44 previews.

Despite generating considerable excitement among K-pop fans, the musical has not drawn big audiences – or at least audiences paying top dollar for tickets. Last week, the show, which received mixed reviews from critics, grossed just 126,493, and although 72 of the venue’s seats were filled, the average ticket price was a tiny 32.

The show began previews on Oct. 13, and officially opened Nov. 27.

‘Kpop’ Broadway Musical Delays Opening By A Week Due To Covid

Kpop, the Broadway musical celebrating the international musical phenomenon, is delaying its official press opening by a week due to Covid among the principal cast.

Critics initially were invited to attend press performances this week, but have been asked to reschedule for Thanksgiving weekend instead. The official opening night at the Circle in the Square Theatre will now be Sunday, Nov. 27, although various festivities originally slated for the previous Nov. 20 opening will go on as planned.

According to a spokesperson for the show, a principle cast member of the musical, who was not identified, will be out of the show this weekend. Kpop has repeatedly missed some performances in recent weeks.

Kpop, according to the official synopsis, “is the story of global superstars putting everything on the line for a special one-night only concert, when one singer’s inner struggle threatens to dismantle one of the biggest labels in the industry.

The upcoming Broadway production of Kpop, a new musical about the global phenomenon, will feature real-life K-pop stars BoHyung, Min and Kevin Woo in addition to the previously announced Luna.

The complete cast for the show was announced Monday by producers Tim Forbes and Joey Parnes. Kpop begins previews at Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre on Thursday, October 13, with an official opening Sunday, November 20.

In addition to Luna, in the starring role of MwE, the cast will feature Julia Abueva, BoHyung (formerly of Spica and half of the duo Keembo), Major Curda, Jinwoo Jung, Jiho Kang, Amy Keum, James Kho, Marina Kondo, Eddy Lee, Joshua Lee, Jully Lee, Lina Rose Lee, Timothy H. ‘Hamilton’ Broadway Cast: Miguel Cervantes Will Return To Title Role For Reopening

The Broadway cast of Hamilton will star Miguel Cervantes in the title role when the hit musical resumes performances at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on September 14.

Cervantes had only recently started playing the role on Broadway when the production, along with the rest of the industry, shut down in March 2020 due to the Covid pandemic. The actor had previously portrayed Hamilton in the Chicago production.

Casting, including Cervantes, for the show was announced today by producer Jeffrey Seller.
