Why Jason Statham Turned Down Starring In A Cult Classic Werewolf Action Movie
Image
Ever since 2002's "The Transporter" Jason Statham has been inseparable from a certain type of action movie that sees the British star playing some John Wick-level invulnerable badass. But Statham was churning out these actioners long before Keanu Reeves' hitman arrived in 2014. Statham has faced off against an assortment of faceless goons for the last 25 or so years, and has even bested a gigantic prehistoric shark in both "The Meg" and "The Meg 2: The Trench," which was lamentably a silly shark sequel with no bite. But we've never seen the man take on a werewolf, which at this point is surely one of the only things that could possibly overcome Statham's might.

As it happens, we almost got this historic face-off the same year that Statham starred in "The Transporter." The actor came very close to starring in a now cult classic werewolf action movie directed by British filmmaker Neil Marshall,...

Jim Carrey’s Joe Biden Impression on ‘SNL’ Panned as ‘Malarkey’
Joe Biden
Joe Biden might be winning over voters these days — or so it appears — but Jim Carrey winning over critics and Biden supporters with his over-the-top impression on “Saturday Night Live,” not so much.

In the final weeks before the election, Carrey has taken the job of impersonating the folksy Democratic candidate for president on “SNL,” but many of the show’s viewers don’t think the former vice president and the manic comedian are a good fit.

In the show’s cold open the last three weeks, Carrey (and “SNL” writers) has lampooned Biden in such a way that has turned off many on social media. Viewers on Twitter — many of whom support Biden — have voiced that Carrey’s trademark balls-to-the-wall style didn’t mesh with Biden. Some even went as far as to say that his take on Biden made them “uncomfortable.”

“Jim Carrey’s #SNL Biden shtick is just a cringe-superspreader.

Not much substance to ‘Twilight Zone: Shadow & Substance’
The Twilight Zone: Shadow & Substance #1

Written by Mark Rahner

Illustrated by Edu Menna, Thiago Ribiero

Published by Dynamite

It hardly needs to be said that the original televised incarnation of The Twilight Zone (1959-1964) was a high water mark for fantastic fiction. The second (1985-1989) was a more than worthy successor that drew on notable talents like Wes Craven and Stephen King (Gramma, a first season episode adapted from King’s short story by Harlan Ellison is almost unbearably terrifying). The third (and to date last) TV go-round was a U.S.-Canada co-production lasted just a single season (2002-2003); which is fitting considering it’s quite mediocre.

Unfortunately, Dynamite’s new Tz comic series, Shadow & Substance, is quite reminiscent of the latter.

Giving a good indication of how little subtlety will be in play here, writer Mark Rahner introduces us to a celebrated horror author named William Gaunt,...
