Bridgerton veteran Lucas Aurelio joins House of the Dragon season 3
Image
Filming on the third season of HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon is about to begin. We've heard a lot about the show staffing up lately with new actors. The latest is Lucas Aurelio, who's probably best known for playing Paul Suarez in the third season of Bridgerton on Netflix. In that series, Aurelio played an upper crust society type who has a threesome with Lady Tilley Arnold (Hannah New) and Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson). Aurelio also played a minor character named Antony in Netflix's The Witcher. At the least, he's used to getting into ye olde tymey costumes for his TV roles, so he should fit in on the set of House of the Dragon.

The last time we heard of a new cast member joining House of the Dragon, it was James Norton playing the role of Ormund Hightower, cousin to Alicent. We have...

Who Does Benedict Bridgerton Marry In Julia Quinn's Books?
Image
We're in the long waiting period once again between seasons of "Bridgerton," which brings the tempting prospect of pivoting to Julia Quinn's novels to find out what happens next. It's been confirmed that "Bridgerton" season 4 will focus on Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), the second son of the eponymous family. However, Benedict's journey through the Netflix series has been quite different from his characterization in the novels, which means that "Bridgerton" season 4 might make some big changes from the source material.

In the books, Benedict is the star of "An Offer from a Gentleman," the third novel in the series. Netflix skipped to book four, "Romancing Mr. Bridgerton," which focuses on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), for season 3, and is now going back for Benedict's big love story. In Quinn's version, he gets involved with a woman named Sophie Beckett, the daughter of an earl...

If there's one thing audiences can't get enough of when it comes to their streaming content, it's an epic, visually stunning production full of unforgettable characters, thrilling action sequences, and a spellbinding storyline. The historical action-adventure series Black Sails more than fits the bill, with the sweeping period drama chronicling the electrifying adventures of the notorious Captain Flint, who, along with his tough crew of fellow pirates, attempts to track down a mythical Spanish treasure while fighting for the survival of New Providence Island.

A prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson's literary masterpiece Treasure Island, the rip-roaring program ran for four seasons from 2014 to 2017 and became a smash success for Starz, though in the years since its dazzling tenure Black Sails has become an overlooked entry in the world of television. 'Black Sails' is Streaming on Tubi from December 1
Image
Pirates of the Caribbean brought swashbuckling adventure back to the big screen in 2003, and that instigated a wave of pirate-themed movies and TV shows on the back of it. Almost a decade after Jack Sparrow created a new pirate legend, Black Sails weighed anchor as a more mature offering that gave the characters of Robert Louis Stephenson’s Treasure Island new backstories in what really played out as Game of Thrones on the high seas. Now the series is coming to free streaming on Tubi, allowing those who have not yet watched the show to catch all the gritty action for free.

Originally broadcast from 2014 to 2017, the Treasure Island prequel features several familiar characters, including a certain John Silver and Captain Flint, as well as some real-life historical figures who cross paths with the fictional pirates years before the events of Stephenson’s novel. Essentially, what Wicked did for The Wizard of Oz....

If Bridgerton Season 4 Doesn't Keep The Book's Time Jump, Benedict's Story Won't Make Sense
Image
The highly anticipated fourth season of Bridgerton is confirmed to be focusing on Benedict Bridgerton's (Luke Thompson) story, and the book from which it will be adapted comes with a built-in time jump that actually makes perfect sense for the second Bridgerton child's arc. In the established format of Julia Quinn's Regency romance series, her book An Offer from a Gentleman follows another one of the eight Bridgerton siblings as he finds love and fulfillment. Benedict's season will be the best yet if Bridgerton's Rotten Tomatoes trend holds, with each new chapter only getting better reviews than the last.

Benedict's soulmate/bride-to-be Sophie Baek's casting, to be played by Dune: Prophecy actress Yerin Ha, was met with excitement from fans as the cast and crew began preparing for the next season. However, as the Bridgerton TV show has been doing so far, Benedict and Sophie's story will not...

Oh No, I'm Worried Bridgerton Has Made Benedict's Perfect Story A Lot More Difficult
Image
Bridgerton season 3's exploration of Benedict's sexuality adds complexity to his romantic story with Sophie Beckett. Changes to Benedict's character in the show may complicate his path to a happy ending different from the books. Benedict's emotional journey in season 4 could involve seeking connection through casual relationships before realizing the depth of his feelings for Sophie.

Im more certain than ever that Bridgertons upcoming Benedict story will still end the same way as in the books, but it wont be as easy. The choice to embrace Benedicts sexuality, with Bridgerton season 3s ending seemingly promising to explore his freedom more, was a strong one, but its also complicating things. As almost every Bridgerton book fan will no doubt have thought at the time: where does this all leave Sophie Beckett?

Thats not to say that Netflix's has struggled to tell the right stories, even with changes to the Bridgerton books.

How Accurate Is Black Sails? 10 Biggest Changes From The Treasure Island Story
Image
Black Sails includes a blend of historical figures and original characters, but historical accuracy is not its primary objective. The show takes liberties with the deaths of real pirates Charles Vane, Edward "Blackbeard" Teach, Benjamin Hornigold, and the interactions between Charles Vane and Ned Low. Black Sails inaccurately portrays the lives of Anne Bonny and Calico Jack Rackham, including the timeline of their relationship.

Black Sails may tell a fictional story, but many of its characters are based on historical figures, which makes it worth analyzing the historical accuracy of the series. The show is written as a prequel to the famous Robert Louis Stevenson novel, Treasure Island, though it is careful to craft its own version of the characters from the novel. Black Sails also includes historical pirates, distancing itself further from the novel throughout its four-season run.

With that in mind, Black Sails' cast ends up being a...

1 Book Is The Perfect One To Read After Bridgerton Season 3 - But It's Not Romance
Image
Bridgerton Season 3 explores two romances and introduces new characters with themes of scientific discovery and nature. The season maintains elements like Queen Charlotte's involvement and gossipy ton members, but diverges with split episodes. The book "The Age of Wonder" complements the season's themes, focusing on Romantic Era explorers and scientists.

After watching Bridgerton season 3, there's one perfect complementary book to read, but it doesn't have a bit of romance at least, not for another person. This season diverges somewhat from previous seasons. For starters, it's the first Bridgerton season to be dropped in two parts, with the season split into episodes of four and four. Bridgerton season 3's story also differs from previous seasons in that it follows not one, but two different romances. While Penelope and Colin's blossoming romance is the main focus, Francesca and John Stirling also see their own romance unfold.

A few common Bridgerton elements didn't change in season 3, however.

Black Sails Most Powerful Character Is Hiding in Plain Sight
Image
When we look at it through a certain lens, Black Sails is a show that is all about power. First and foremost, of course, the series concerns itself with the power of a great story. Its ending, in particular, is entirely dedicated to how art shapes our perception of history and how, when push comes to shove, all we have is a bunch of disjointed tales that may or may not be true and a flag that says a lot more than a few words. Plot-wise, though, Black Sails is also a story about power in the sense that it focuses on who has the power over the island of Nassau. Is it the pirates? The British? The soon-to-be-independent Americans, through the hands of the Guthrie family? Or is it someone else entirely? On a smaller scale, Nassau begins as the property of Eleanor Guthrie (Hannah New), then changed hands...

Bridgerton Showrunner Clarifies Benedict's Sexual Identity After Season 3 Story Arc
Image
Benedict's exploration of his sexuality in Bridgerton season 3 reflects his openness and defiance of societal expectations. Brownell confirms Benedict's pansexuality and hints at future character development around embracing his true self. Benedict's journey through love and self-discovery will lead him to tackle themes from his novel and relate to viewers on a personal level.

‘Bridgerton’ Toying with Benedict’s Bisexual Storyline Could Mean that the Show Plans to Change One Major Detail From the Books

In the alternative history of the world of Bridgerton, there is a slew of things that unfolded differently than the real-world history of the time. The show on Netflix has decided to deviate the story even further, making a key change to the character of Benedict Bridgerton from the novels.

‘Bridgerton’ Season 3 Boss Breaks Down Polin’s Happy Ending, Those Shocking Plot Twists and Lady Whistledown’s Triumph
Image
Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from Season 3 of “Bridgerton,” now streaming on Netflix.

In the Season 3 finale of “Bridgerton,” when Lady Whistledown steps into the light of her true identity — Penelope Bridgerton (Nicola Coughlan) — her husband, Colin (Luke Newton), learns not only to accept, but to applaud her for who she is. After that, Whisteldown imposter Cressida Cowper (Jessica Madsen) is shunned from London, the ton rejoices in the birth of a “Polin” baby and delightedly theorizes about which Bridgerton sibling will take the lead next.

The answer to that question is not immediately clear, as huge storylines pop up in the final episodes for Benedict (Luke Thompson), Eloise (Claudia Jessie) and Francesca (Hannah Dodd). Benedict takes his new flame Lady Tilley Arnold (Hannah New) and her friend Paul (Lucas Aurelio) up on their offer of a threesome and explores his sexuality with them multiple times over. Is Benedict Bisexual In The Bridgerton Books?
Image
Benedict exploring his bisexuality in Bridgerton season 3 is not present in the book series. Benedict's storyline adds depth to his journey of self-discovery and artistic identity. His arc could resolve his internal conflicts, allowing his character to grow in unique ways.

Bridgerton season 3 part 2's storyline for Benedict (Luke Thompson) has him exploring his bisexuality, raising questions about where this fits into the books. Benedict's story in the show's third season was somewhat minimal in the first half. Though he did start a relationship with Lady Tilly Arnold (Hannah New), his arc seemed mostly focused on dodging the many eligible ladies of the ton. However, the second half of the season took Benedict's arc in a new direction, adding another layer to Bridgerton season 3 part 2's ending.

No One Can Stop Screaming at ‘Bridgerton’ Part 2 Premiere Event in London

To no one’s surprise and everyone’s delight, the first song that played on the red carpet for the “Bridgerton” Season 3 – Part 2 premiere in London June 12 was the orchestral cover of Pitbull’s “Give Me Everything.”

‘Bridgerton’ Season 3 Part 2 Is the Most Fascinating Chapter of the Franchise Yet: TV Review
Image
“Bridgerton” Season 3 is no fairytale. Instead, the second half of the season, arguably some of the most vital chapters in the franchise, is about taking up space and having the courage to face the consequences of your actions. As Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) transition from friends to lovers, the pair realize if their union is going to work, they must foster an environment of openness and honesty, even if it requires standing in opposition to societal expectations.

Part 2 of Season 3 might not be the fantasy viewers expected, but it does allow us to indulge in the romance for a bit. Episode 5, in the perhaps winkingly named “Tick Tock,” opens with Penelope writing as Lady Whistledown (voiced by Julie Andrews). Still exhilarated from her enchanted evening with Colin following their steamy carriage ride and his impromptu proposal, Pen wants to linger in this new exquisite era of her life.

Shonda Rhimes Says She Cried Watching ‘Bridgerton’ Season 3 Finale
Image
Bridgerton season three part two has mostly been kept under wraps, but that didn’t stop Shonda Rhimes from teasing fans about what they can expect in the upcoming episodes.

The executive producer stopped by the Today show on Tuesday, where she chatted about the final episodes of the season, which drops on Netflix June 13.

“We’re very secretive about it but I will say it is sexy and surprising in many ways,” Rhimes revealed. “And also, I cried at the end. I found it very moving — and I don’t always cry. So I really got into it. I think it’s a beautiful story.”

Season three of the hit drama romance series focuses on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington’s (Nicola Coughlan) friends-to-lovers storyline. In part one, which hit the streamer on May 16, viewers saw Polin’s dynamic slowly shift out of the friend zone, with...

Does Benedict Marry Lady Tilley Arnold In The Bridgerton Books?
Image
This article contains spoilers for Julia Quinn's "An Offer from a Gentleman."

Lady Tilley Arnold is a new character in Bridgerton Season 3, not found in Julia Quinn's novels. Benedict in the books marries Sophie Beckett, not Lady Arnold, setting up a different romantic story. Netflix often deviates from the Bridgerton books, adding new elements like Lady Arnold for drama.

In Bridgerton season 3, part 1, a new member of the ton was introduced, Lady Tilley Arnold, and though she has become a new love interest for Benedict, Julia Quinn's Bridgerton books tell a different story about Benedict and his romantic future. In 2020, Netflix released the first seaon of Bridgerton, a period romance based on novels by Julia Quinn. The show and books both follow the eight Bridgerton siblings in Regency Era London as they spend each courting season among the ton, and become engrossed in local gossip while also falling in love.

Bridgerton Season 3 Cast: Meet Lady Arnold, Lord Debling & More New Characters
Image
How do the makers of Bridgerton keep a fandom as dedicated as theirs guessing? How does the Netflix show surprise a core of fans who are so intimately familiar with Julia Quinn’s source books that they’re anticipating every blush and ball before it even gets to the screen?

One solution, as has happened in season three, is to play with the established order of things. Though Benedict Bridgerton’s romance follows on from that of his brother Anthony’s in Quinn’s book series, the TV show has (rightly!) vaulted over that to first show the love story between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington.

Their other answer? Invention. In addition to TV-only characters Madame Delacroix, Will and Alice Mondrich and Queen Charlotte herself, a new raft of invented-for-the-show characters appear in season three. Here they all are, along with info on the actors playing them, plus a couple...

'Black Sails' Most Game-Changing Death Is Actually a Fake-Out
Image
When Black Sails first reached our screens in 2014, it was operating on that Game of Thrones logic that many shows of its time were trying to emulate, for better or worse. Episode 1, in which there was no shortage of bloody deaths, made it clear that the series wanted viewers to get into that "anyone can die" mindset that made the HBO medieval fantasy show so popular. And, indeed, by downright drowning a fan-favorite and crew-favorite character in its final moments, Season 1 seemed like it was about to fulfill that very promise. However, because Black Sails eventually changed its course or was never meant to be a main character killer, audiences soon found themselves watching a much more traditional adventure story. One in which protagonists always live to see another day, no matter what kind of horrors befall them. Sure, Black Sails has its fair share of traumatizing deaths, from Charles Vane...

Black Sails Ending, Explained: Why Did It End Like That?
Image
Black Sails, a prequel to Treasure Island, blends history and fiction in a gripping tale of pirates and treasure quests. The series finale sees Flint and Silver unite against all odds, choosing love over war in a dramatic conclusion. Creator Jon Steinberg emphasizes the importance of the unlikely bond between Flint and Silver, driving the story's closure.

Conceived as a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson's classic Treasure Island novel, Black Sails ran on the Starz network for four seasons between 2014 and 2017 before concluding on an epic note. Blending historical facts with fictional characters, the story follows Captain James Flint (Toby Stephens) and his pirate crew as they attempt to find lost treasure aboard the sunken Urca de Lima cargo ship. As Flint's search brings him closer to enriching his mates, an all-out war between the Spanish and British Empire takes place to control the Caribbean.

Although four years have...

'Black Sails' Best Relationship Is One You Never See Coming
Image
When it comes to ships, Starz's Black Sails is full of possibilities. And no, we're not talking about the kinds of ships with the titular black sails that roam the Atlantic Ocean. While the show is indeed full of those, our concern here is with the romantic relationships between its characters. Whether you're one of those fans who prefer to adhere to canon or the kind of person who likes to make up your own dynamics, the series offers a myriad of pairings, from Charles Vane (Zach McGowan) and Eleanor Guthrie (Hannah New) to Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) and Lord Thomas Hamilton (Rupert Penry-Jones). Some of these couples are pretty obvious from the moment you first lay eyes on the show, while others you have to work through at least a handful of episodes to finally see. But the very best romantic relationship or perhaps the very best relationship,...

Under-the-Radar 4-Season Historical Epic Climbs Netflix's US Top 10 Chart After Ending 7 Years Ago
Image
Black Sails is a Netflix hit in the U.S., ranking ninth on the most-watched English-language shows chart for the week. This streaming success has come seven years after the Starz show originally went off the air. This success may be attributed to the cast members landing prominent roles in popular streaming shows post-Black Sails.

Black Sails has become a Netflix hit. The show, which premiered on Starz in 2014, is a prequel to the iconic 1883 novel Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, incorporating many real-life pirates of the early 1700s into the story including Blackbeard, Jack Rackham, Charles Vane, and Anne Bonny. The show, which was co-created by Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine (who would later collaborate on FX's Jeff Bridges show The Old Man), eventually ran for four seasons and 38 total episodes before going off the air in April 2017.

Netflix has now calculated their most-watched shows...

Why Black Sails Season 5 Isn't Happening & What It Would've Been About
Image
Black Sails season 4 was the last due to the co-creators' planned ending, but the series finale seemingly set up potential spinoffs. The co-creators considered a season 5 based on Treasure Island but decided to keep the show and book separate. There are no plans for a Black Sails continuation.

While Black Sails season 5 won't be setting sail anytime soon (seeing as Starz ended the show after season 4), here's what it could have been about. Black Sails is an epic historical adventure series made by Starz and follows the bloody misadventures of a crew of pirates. The show also acts as a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, providing an origin story for Long John Silver. The first season of Black Sails focused on a treasure hunt, with later seasons following the battle for control of New Providence between the pirates and the British Empire.

While the show could be dark and violent,...

How Historically Accurate Is Black Sails?
Image
Black Sails combines fact and fiction to create a gripping show rooted in the Golden Age of Piracy. Real-life pirates like Blackbeard and Anne Bonny are portrayed accurately, while some events have been fictionalized. The series blends historical facts with imaginary stories, making it a captivating portrayal of piracy in the 1800s.

Conceived as a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson's 1883 novel Treasure Island, Black Sails is a historical adventure series on the Starz Network from 2014 to 2017. Set in the early 1800s during the Golden Age of Piracy, the four-season tale follows various real-life pirates and seafarers who interact with fictional characters dwelling on New Providence island in the Bahamas. Apart from chronicling the history of piracy, the inciting event of the series concerns the hunt for treasure aboard a Spanish ship called the Urca de Lima, prompting a war for control between the Spanish and British Empire.

Bridgerton Season 3 Images Reveal Benedict Getting Cozy With New Companion Lady Tilley Arnold
Image
New images from Bridgerton season 3 suggest Benedict will spend time with one of the show's new characters, Lady Tilley Arnold. The upcoming season will break tradition by focusing on Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton rather than Benedict. Previously, Bridgerton followed the order of the book series, with Daphne and Anthony leading the first two seasons. Though Benedict's story is told in the third book, viewers will have to wait a little while longer to see it on screen. However, he'll still have a role to play in season 3, as evidenced by new photos.

The images shared by Netflix come from episode 3 of the new season and show Benedict with Lady Tilley Arnold, a new character played by Hannah New. Check out the images below:

Black Sails: The True Story Of Captain Henry Avery
Image
Captain Henry Avery, though never physically seen, played a significant role in Black Sails, with characters having mixed opinions and emotions about him. Captain Avery, also known as Henry Every, was a successful and notorious pirate during the Golden Age of Piracy, with his raids and escapes inspiring other famous pirates. The true fate of Captain Avery remains unknown, with theories ranging from squandering his riches to living out his life in obscurity. Still, his legacy was respected and admired throughout Black Sails.

Since it debuted on Starz in 2014, the pirate adventure series Black Sails has received high praise for its portrayal of the Golden Age of Piracy. Set in the 18th century, Black Sails serves as a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson's popular novel Treasure Island and follows a young Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) and his crew members, as they fight for the survival of New Providence Island.

‘The Vance Institute’ Review

Stars: Hannah New, Vince Lozano, Tom Malloy, David Josh Lawrence, Jamie Scott Gordon, Gordon Holliday, Megan Tremethick | Written by Tom Malloy, David Josh Lawrence | Directed by Lawrie Brewster

When we reviewed Trauma Therapy: Psychosis it was mentioned the fillm was a reworked version of The Vance Institute. A was originally shot with the intent of being released in black and white with a few colour scenes. Instead, it was released all in colour.

There was also new footage added featuring Tom Sizemore as the host of The Tom Sizemore Show interviewing Victor, one of the characters from the 2019 film Trauma Therapy. After Sizemore died this made a centrepiece of the film’s publicity as his last film despite there being several more of his films yet to be released.

This was shot and edited in without the participation of the original director, Lawrie Brewster who says he was assured he would have the final cut.

‘Trauma Therapy: Psychosis’ Review #2
Image
Stars: Tom Sizemore, Hannah New, Vince Lozano, Tom Malloy, David Josh Lawrence, Jamie Scott Gordon, Gordon Holliday, Megan Tremethick | Written by Tom Malloy, David Josh Lawrence | Directed by Gary Barth

A sequel to the 2019 Trauma Therapy, which I remember as not too bad of a film with a lofty concept but sadly a sloppy execution leaving viewers with a middling taste. A sequel that I don’t think anyone was asking for but here we find ourselves. A sequel marred in a touch of controversy due to unhappy directors, overbearing producers, writers, actors and the untimely demise of the late Tom Sizemore.

Apparently, there are two cuts of this movie out in the wilderness. One with and one without Tom Sizemore and to be honest I can’t see there would be much of a difference considering the insignificance of his screen time. But… it is always nice to see the man on screen.

A sequel to 2019’s Trauma Therapy, the story continues as self-help guru Tobin Vance (Tom Malloy) arrives in the UK to avoid arrest from his US operations while secretly running more retreats. With the help of new assistants, he seeks to lure vulnerable individuals into a promised retreat to better themselves, yet the group are unaware of the nightmares awaiting them.

It should be noted that Trauma Therapy: Psychosis arrived with an air of controversy revealed on Twitter by director Lawrie Brewster. He considers this film to be an unauthorized re-edit of his film, with criticism aimed at it being “exploitative of Tom Sizemore’s death”, which left Brewster to request that the director credit be given to his...

Bridgerton Season 3 Casting Is Bad For Colin And Penelope's Romance
Image
The unrequited romance between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington is next up for Bridgerton in season 3, however, a new addition to the cast could cause trouble for the couple's already rocky relationship. Bridgerton is a period romance series with two successful seasons under its belt and a third on the way in 2023. The series follows the well-to-do Bridgerton family during the Regency Era, and the many dramatic, steamy romances that occur during London's courting season.

The upcoming Bridgerton season 3 is set to focus on the unlikely romance between best friends Penelope and Colin. Penelope has been in love with Colin for many years now, though the third Bridgerton son is entirely unaware of the fact and tends to fall in love with other women incredibly easily. With various dark secrets swirling between them, their potential romance seems like it will have a rough start in season 3. More than that, as...
