News has exclusively learned that the actress, who is currently in Hawaii filming her yet-to-be-titled film, decided to cut at least one scene from the movie which shows someone shooting a gun at people, following the mass shooting that claimed the lives of 49 people at Pulse nightclub recently. The Man Who Killed Don Quixote

Olga Kurylenko ("Quantum of Solace") is set to join Adam Driver and Michael Palin in Terry Gilliam's long in the works "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote" at Alfama Films. Paolo Branco is also aboard as producer which aims to begin shooting in Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands in October.

Elisabeth Moss ("Mad Men") has signed on to star alongside Danish actors Claes Bang and Christopher Laesso in "Force Majeure" director Ruben Ostlund's darkly humorous drama "The Square" which deals with responsibility for other individuals in public spaces. The film will be shot from June to October in Sweden and Berlin for a 2017 release.

Eyebrows were raised when ITV decided to air its new gory thriller Jekyll and Hyde at 6.30pm on Sundays, and nearly 500 viewers weren't impressed.

Charlie Higson's new adaptation of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson novel received 280 complaints at ITV and a further 212 with regulator Ofcom.

The debut episode featured various graphic and violent moments, including a man being shot in the chest and another getting burned to death. Ouch.

Starring Tom Bateman and Richard E Grant, it follows the original Dr Jekyll's nephew in 1930s London, and has a rather superhero twang.

An Ofcom spokesperson said: "Ofcom has received 212 [complaints] about Jekyll and Hyde, which aired on ITV on Sunday. We will assess these complaints before deciding whether to investigate or not."

ITV added: "ITV issued a warning before the transmission of Jekyll and Hyde advising the parents of younger children they may find some scenes scary."

As Jekyll & Hyde arrives on ITV, we chatted to creator and novelist Charlie Higson about kids’ horror, VFX budgets and more…

Charlie Higson is currently a very busy man. After the press launch of ITV’s Jekyll & Hyde, he has to rush off to a VFX meeting (“If an episode’s got shit special effects in it,” he jokes, “it’ll be your fault because you kept me too long!”). Then he’s straight on to filming his second Professor Branestawm adaptation for the BBC, appearing at live events to mark The Fast Show’s twenty-first birthday, and, at the end of this month, bringing out the final instalment in his Ya horror series, The Enemy. That’s a full plate by anyone’s standards.

Incidentally, Higson is eating from a full plate as we chat, multi-tasking interviews with the consumption of a modest Jenga tower of posh chips and bijou burgers.

Coming to ITV this Sunday is Charlie Higson's new superhero take on Jekyll & Hyde. Here's what we learned on set this summer...

It's not every day you see Richard E. Grant and Tom Bateman tussling in an underground bunker. Visiting the set of ITV’s superhero-retelling of Jekyll & Hyde in the outskirts of London this June, that’s exactly what we got.

The new show, a 1930s adaptation of the oft-retold Robert Louis Stevenson novel, focuses on Robert Jekyll, the grandson of Edward Hyde and inheritor of the family’s dark secret. It’s 19th Century literature with a modern superhero twist, and fully intends to take over Sunday-night family viewing.

The Fast Show writer and novelist Charlie Higson’s televised take on Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde has had our attention for a while.

Today we’ve learned that the show – going by the title Jekyll And Hyde - will kick off on ITV on Sunday the 25th of October. It’s in a relatively early timeslot of 6.30pm.

Tom Bateman of Da Vinci's Demons stars in the title role(s), and Richard E. Grant co-stars as the head of the secret service.

Mr Grant told us recently that “it’s about Jekyll’s grandson, and so it’s set in the 1930s. And so, Charlie Higson has taken licence to include monsters and vampires and all those genre horror elements.

Tom Bateman will soon explode onto our TV screens in ITV's brand new superhero-inspired adaptation of Jekyll and Hyde.

Writer Charlie Higson has already described Bateman as a "sexy" update of the doctor with the split personality, who will be the grandson of the title character in Robert Louis Stevenson's classic tale.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Bateman said that watching Heath Ledger's take on The Joker in The Dark Knight was a big influence on how he played Hyde.

"Jekyll is quite close to me, a little bit more shy. Whereas Hyde is a mish-mash of lots of things. I didn't realise I was borrowing it throughout the auditions – but Heath Ledger's Joker [was an influence].

"You love watching the Joker, and yes that's what I was doing, subconsciously that. I'd obviously seen it and it had embedded it self a little bit. A Clockwork Orange also has that sort of gross,...

ITV has released the first clip from its upcoming ten-part "Jekyll & Hyde" event series which isn't so much a new adaptation of the Robert Louis Stevenson short story so much as a superhero-themed reimagined sequel to it.

Tom Bateman, Richard E. Grant and Natalie Gumede star in this new take in which we follow the grandson of the original Dr. Jekyll who is a young, sensitive and meek man. ITV's new Jekyll & Hyde series has been billed as a "superhero story" - with a "sexy" Mr Hyde.

Cast and crew from the new paranormal drama attended a panel at McM London Comic Con on Saturday (May 23).

Lead writer Charlie Higson said: "It's a superhero Jekyll & Hyde - about Dr Jekyll's grandson, who doesn't know anything about who he is or why he's like he is.

"[The book is] the prototype superhero story - it's a guy with an alter ego. He can turn into someone else, nobody knows it's him and he can do all the things he dreams about, so I thought there was a lot you could do with it that was new and exciting."

Higson described the show's Hyde as "sexy", "good-looking" and "dangerous" - with Da Vinci's Demons actor Tom Bateman playing the dual-role of Hyde and his mild-mannered alter ego Jekyll.

Bates Motel & The Returned

A&E Network has announced back-to-back premiere dates for the third season of "Bates Motel" and the U.S. remake of acclaimed French supernatural series "The Returned". Both will premiere on March 9th.

Speaking about the latter, show runner Cartlon Cuse says that the first six episodes of the show share a lot of similarities with the original. After that point they diverge and the end of the first season is "fairly, distinctively different" from the original. [Source: The Live Feed]

The ten-part adventure drama - based on Robert Louis Stevenson's 1886 novella - will also star Coronation Street's Natalie Gumede.

Bateman will take the role of Robert Jekyll, Grant will play Sir Roger Bulstrode, and Gumede will star as Bella.

The cast of the series also includes Stephanie Hyam (Murdered By My Boyfriend), Donald Sumpter (Game of Thrones), Amit Shah (Hustle), Phil McKee (Ripper Street) and Christian McKay (Rush).

Ruby Bentall (The Paradise), Enzo Cilenti (Game of Thrones), Lolita Chakrabarti (The Smoke), Michael Karim (Inspector Lewis) and Ace Bhatti (Silk) will feature in supporting roles.

The series will be set in 1930s London, and will focus on the grandson of the doctor featured in Stevenson's story.

Colin Teague will direct the series, which begins filming in Sri Lanka later this month. Production will take place in London from February until July.

The first pictures have been released from the stage adaptation of Shakespeare in Love.

The adaptation of the Oscar-winning 1998 movie is currently in previews at London's Noël Coward Theatre.

It has been adapted for the stage by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot) and features a company of 28 actors and musicians.

It is directed by Declan Donnellan and designed by Nick Ormerod, and tickets are on sale now.

Tom Bateman plays William Shakespeare and Viola de Lesseps is played by Lucy Briggs-Owen.

Da Vinci's Demons is a show that loves to play with the concept of reality. In particular, it seems to hang onto the idea of a Jungian-type collective unconscious, a sort of pseudo/actual spiritual real in which everyone is connected on some sort of deep level. Leonardo and Lorenzo, who are blood brothers after that transfusion, seem to share some sort of deeper connection in this week's episode, which features both our major characters (and most of our minor characters) at serious risk of death from various torments. Beaten to a pulp or hallucinating due to a combination of snake venom and ayahuasca, Leonardo and Lorenzo are apparently on a shared spiritual quest. The cast for the forthcoming stage production of Shakespeare in Love has been announced.

Tom Bateman will be playing William Shakespeare and Viola de Lesseps will be played by Lucy Briggs-Owen.

It was announced in November last year that Disney and Sonia Friedman Productions had plans to put the Oscar-winning film on the West End, with Tony-winner Lee Hall adapting the movie for the stage.

Shakespeare in Love tells the story of a promising young playwright, Will Shakespeare, who is tormented by writer's block until he finds his muse in the form of Viola de Lesseps. Their forbidden love draws many others, including Queen Elizabeth, into the drama and inspires Will to create the greatest love story ever written.

The actors playing the star-crossed lovers will be joined by a company of over 30 actors and musicians and will be directed by Declan Donnellan. More of the cast are expected to be announced soon.

Da Vinci’s Demons was one of the richest, most eye-popping new series of 2013. The sets and the costumes set the stage for the characters and the mysteries in a unique way, a combination of Italian Renaissance and punk that worked a lot of screen magic. And while Leo fully commanded the screen, there was something about his arch-enemy Riario, especially when he wore those amazing sunglasses…

Those sunglasses, by the way, belong to Blake Ritson, who plays Riario. He brought them to the set. One of the cool things you can learn from the Season 1 Blu-ray or DVD. Just saying.
