'Mythic Quest' Gets Canceled, but There's Good News
Image
It's always a little awkward when you tell someone about a celebrity's death and that person has never heard of them to begin with. It's the same way with TV shows. "Have you heard that Swagger was canceled? "No, I haven't heard of Swagger to begin with." That's often the case with Apple TV+ shows, which are some of the most wonderfully produced and star-studded series since the days of streaming began. The problem is, most people have never heard of them, give or take Ted Lasso and Severance. Well, if you haven't heard of Mythic Quest, it's a delightful show, and you should watch it, though it's a little too late now. The series, which recently ended its fourth season (and a brief anthologized spin-off), has been canceled.

Created by three of the very funny minds behind It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Mythic Quest had a lot of people rooting for it.

‘Mythic Quest’ Canceled By Apple After 4 Seasons; Final Episode To Be Updated “So We Could Say Goodbye, Instead Of Just Game Over,” Creators Say

Apple TV+’s Mythic Quest has come to an end. The streamer has opted not to renew the gaming workplace comedy series for a fifth season. The decision comes days after the Season 4 finale dropped March 26.

Since it had not been conceived as a series finale, the Season 4 finale will now get a new ending to give fans closure. The updated episode will be made available next week.

“Endings are hard. But after four incredible seasons, Mythic Quest is coming to a close. We’re so proud of the show and the world we got to build — and deeply grateful to every cast and crew member who poured their heart into it,” series creators/executive producers Megan Ganz, David Hornsby and Rob McElhenney said in a statement Friday. “To all our fans, thank you for playing with us. 'It Could've Been Anyone': Mythic Quest Writers on Season 4 Murder Mystery
Image
The following contains major spoilers from Mythic Quest Season 4, Episode 4, "The Villain's Feast," now streaming on Apple TV+.

Mythic Quest Season 4, Episode 4, "The Villain's Feast" sees the main characters spend time away from video game development to have a murder mystery party. As the group tries to figure out who among them is the culprit, the party culminates in Dana Bryant proposing to her girlfriend Rachel Mayee. Meanwhile, Poppy Li makes a surprise discovery that will change her life forever. What seemed at first like a fun diversion is actually one of the season's biggest episodes.

In an interview with Cbr, Mythic Quest co-creator and showrunner Megan Ganz, who directed "The Villain's Feast," and writer Humphrey Ker share how their mutual love of Agatha Christie and past work informed the script. This ‘Mythic Quest’ Storyline Is a Huge Risk — and It’s Already Paying Off
Image
When Mythic Quest's murder mystery party turned into a proposal from Dana (Imani Hakim) to Rachel (Ashly Burch), it pulled off a fantastic twist. That wasn't the only twist of the episode, though; in the very last scene, Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao) complained about the taste of the gummy worms she was eating, and Carol (Naomi Ekperigin) pointed out that she might be pregnant. It initially looked like this would be a one-episode plotline, but at the start of this week's episode, Poppy tells Ian (Rob McElhenney) that she's pregnant and she's going to keep the baby.

St. Denis Medical Season 1, Episode 12 Review: Plague Cat Steals the Show
Image
The following contains major spoilers for St. Denis Medical Season 1, Episode 12, "Buffalo Bruce and Matty the Kid," which debuted Tuesday, Feb. 18 on NBC.

St. Denis Medical Season 1, Episode 12, "Buffalo Bruce and Matty the Kid," will be remembered as the one with the plague cat. The NBC sitcom isn't quite as lovably strange as usual -- but this episode written by Mythic Quest alum Naomi Ekperigin still has some good laughs built into it. More interestingly, the subplot involving Serena's birthday gets surprisingly saccharine.

"Buffalo Bruce and Matty the Kid" focuses on Bruce and Matt being assigned to capture an emotional support cat that's running loose around the hospital. Like everything at St. Denis, this doesn't go according to plan, which is where most of the humor comes from. Yet the episode is a bit awkward when it delves into more emotional territory.

St. Denis Season 1, Episode 12 Is Dominated by...

Mythic Quest season 4 is here, and there are good reasons why any fan of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia should check this comedy out!

Every streamer has those shows that don't get the acclaim of other series on the same streamer. With Apple TV+, Ted Lasso has gotten massive accolades and Emmy wins, but Mythic Quest hasn't gotten as much attention. And that's a shame, as the show deserves a lot more viewers.

Don’t Sleep on ‘Mythic Quest,’ Rob McElhenney’s Other Dark Comedy
Image
This month, the world has been shocked to learn that AppleTV+ does actually employ a few people who know how to market its shows. Or, maybe, just one show: Severance. The famously under-watched platform released the first eight minutes of the Season Two premiere. The official Severance podcast booked Adam Scott’s A-list friends to talk about it. Its four leads showed up in a transparent pen at New York’s Grand Central Station, wearing their show costumes and wigs, to pretend to work at their terminals.

It makes sense for Apple to put resources behind a show that has critics slavering in a way I haven’t seen since Succession went off the air, but it’s really overshadowed the other dark workplace comedy it’s bringing back this month: Mythic Quest, which with four seasons to its name is one of Apple’s longest-running shows, not to mention...

Actors, Writers Slam Wbd Executive’s ‘Saved $100 Million’ Strike Comment as ‘Out of Touch and Heartless’
Image
Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels’ comment on Thursday that the media giant has saved $100 million since the strike began is not going over well with the actors and writers who are holding out for a better contract.

“That’s like half of what you spent on ‘The Flash’ movie that nobody saw,” “Mythic Quest” writer, actress and comedian Naomi Ekperigin told TheWrap in front of of Paramount Studios on Thursday.

“That really gets you out of the hole you put yourself into when you made the merger,” she joked.

“Community” star Charley Koontz told TheWrap: “I think it’s interesting that today $100 million, is a lot to them. That’s a great savings for them today. Before, it was a pittance, it’s not worth making anything that [will earn less than] that… But that’s also a fraction of what we’re asking for. So you know, if [Warner Bros. Discovery CEO...

F. Murray Abraham’s Exit From ‘Mythic Quest’ Came After Sexual Misconduct Complaints (Report)
F. Murray Abraham
F. Murray Abraham’s sudden exit from “Mythic Quest” last April was due to sexual misconduct complaints, according to a Monday report from Rolling Stone.

Although the exact nature of his behavior was not detailed, a production source said that Abraham was “given a warning and told to keep away from some of the show’s actresses.” After a second complaint, series creator and star Rob McElhenney opted to let him go, Rolling Stone reports.

“It’s a bummer to not have Murray in this season,” McElhenney told Variety at the time of saying goodbye to Abraham’s character, sci-fi author C.W. Longbottom. “But we recognize that C.W. is a beloved character and obviously a huge part of the show. So, we made sure that we have a really fitting tribute to him. We definitely address it in a big way.”

David Shows Ian A Harsh Reality In Mythic Quest Season 3 [Exclusive Clip]
Image
Mythic Quest season 3 is in full swing and has already proven to be just as funny and heartfelt as previous seasons, if not more. Co-created by Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Megan Ganz, Mythic Quest has been one of the top comedies on Apple TV+ since it first debuted in February 2020. Since then, the writers and cast members of Mythic Quest have deftly coped with a number of shake-ups ranging from a global pandemic to the departure of one of its leading actors, F. Murray Abraham, in advance of the third season.

Something that Mythic Quest has always excelled at is bringing its characters into new territory without sacrificing the humor of the show. This is especially evident in season 3, which sees Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao), Ian (Rob McElhenney), and Dana (Imani Hakim) working at GrimPop, an independent game studio. This new development offers new opportunities to explore the relationship between...

How ‘Mythic Quest’ Wrote Out F. Murray Abraham’s C.W. Longbottom in Season 3 — And Why He Wasn’t Replaced
Image
Warning: Spoilers follow for the Season 3 premiere of Apple TV+’s “Mythic Quest.”

With F. Murray Abraham traipsing off to Sicily — he’s in the latest season of “The White Lotus” — he won’t be seen walking the halls of “Mythic Quest” as the critically acclaimed comedy returns for a third season this Friday on Apple TV+.

Abraham played C.W. Longbottom — the crusty and wildly inappropriate head writer of the “Mythic Quest.” In Season 2’s flashback episode “Backstory,” viewers learned the origin story of C.W., and how Ian Grimm (Rob McElhenney) found him to help create the game. At the end of Season 2, C.W. was still at Mythic Quest, even as Ian and Poppy Li (Charlotte Nicdao) announced they were leaving to launch their own company, GrimPop Studios.

Season 3 takes place about a year later, as the show’s characters — who have all been scattered about, including...

Warning: Some light Spoilers for Mythic Quest season 3.Mythic Quest season 3 is back and ready to bring audiences another serving of the show's trademark blend of humor, heart, and workplace chaos. The Apple TV+ original series first debuted in 2020, and despite a global pandemic and the exit of one of its main actors in F. Murray Abraham (whose character was notably a focal point of the show's second season), it looks to be heading into this new batch of episodes on a high. Created by Rob McElhenney, Megan Ganz, and Charlie Day, Mythic Quest has already proven itself to be another success from the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crew, and was renewed for a fourth season in advance of the third being released.

Danny Pudi & Naomi Ekperigin Interview: Mythic Quest Season 3
Image
Mythic Quest season 3 is almost here, and it seems poised to deliver the winning blend of humor and heart that has made the Apple TV+ workplace comedy such a success. Created by many of the minds behind It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Mythic Quest often leans into the messiness of its characters while giving enough glimpses of the humanity beneath to keep audiences invested. As the show has progressed, Mythic Quest has also notably given many of its actors more to do behind the scenes as well, with a number of actors involved in both writing and directing in season 3.

Two such actors are Danny Pudi and Naomi Ekperigin, who have gotten involved in directing and writing (respectively) even as they've continued to portray their characters, Brad Bakshi and Carol. After going to jail at the end of Mythic Quest season 2, Brad is back in the game company's office with a new position,...

‘Mythic Quest’ Season 3 Trailer Shows GrimPop Studios Preparing to Go to War
Image
Apple has released the first full trailer for the third season of its comedy series “Mythic Quest,” showing Rob McElhenney’s Ian and Charlotte Nicdao’s Poppy helming GrimPop Studios and teasing a rivalry between the pair and their old company.

“Joe Manganiello? Nobody’s going to believe he could play me. He’s not big enough!” Ian exclaims in the trailer, reacting to news of the beefy actor (playing himself) being booked to portray the egotistical developer in motion-capture.

New episodes of “Mythic Quest” follow Ian and Poppy at the helm of their new banner GrimPop, making a name for themselves in the video game developer world. Over at rival studio Mythic Quest, tensions brew and loyalties are tested.

Will There Be An Interview With The Vampire Season 2? Here's What We Know
Image
The new AMC adaptation of Anne Rice's legendary novel "Interview with the Vampire" hasn't even premiered yet, and folks are already wondering whether or not to invest their time in a show that runs the risk of being immediately canceled. Horror fans have been burned as of late, with shows like "I Know What You Did Last Summer," "I Am Not Okay With This," "First Kill," and "Santa Clarita Diet" all being canceled prematurely. The constant threat of cancelation looming overhead of adventurous horror shows has unfortunately resulted in a wave of fans unwilling to commit to a new series out of fear that they'll fall in love with characters only to have them pulled away as fast as they arrived, which of course, perpetuates this vicious cycle because, without viewership numbers, there's no incentive for a network to keep a show around.
