More photos from Pete Travis‘ upcoming Dredd reboot have been outed by Lionsgate.

It stars Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey, Jason Cope, Langley Kirkwood, Kevon Kane, Joe Vaz, Warrick Grier, Scott Sparrow, and Luke Tyler.

In the world of ‘Dredd,’ a new drug called slo-mo is taking over the streets. As the name implies, the drug causes its users to experience the world around them at a fraction of the normal speed, which means that when Urban’s Judge Dredd starts violently cleaning up the streets, there’s actually a reason for everything to sloooow down other than just to look cool (although, let’s face it, that’s the ulterior motive). All of this promises the most slow motion filled film since ’300,’ which was also sold heavily on its style rather than a star-studded cast.

Dredd opens on September 21st, 2012.

Although I’m not sure anyone asked for it, another update to the source material, which spawned the 1995 Sylvester Stallone actioner Judge Dredd, is coming our way this fall and we’ve got the first footage today. Titled simply Dredd, Star Trek‘s Karl Urban is in the lead role, with indie staple Olivia Thirlby by his side. While Pete Travis seems to be directing with a bit more style here compared to his dud Vantage Point, it’s difficult to get excited for this one.

Thirlby looks way out of her element and while I shouldn’t be expecting anything stellar from this reboot, I was hoping Alex Garland (Sunshine, 28 Days Later) cooked up a more interesting story than what looks to be a simple, confined building take-over (akin to this year’s The Raid). Haven’t seen a trailer for Petey Travis’ “Dredd” yet, but I suspect we’ll see it soon enough. I mean, they can’t hide this thing forever, can he? It is curious though that we haven’t seen anything from the film yet except for some images and now, this new poster. Oh well, I’m sure they know what they’re doing. After all, they did promise it would be better than the Stallone version, and I’m sure they wouldn’t promise it if they couldn’t deliver. Right? A new Judge Dredd movie, which is tentatively called "Dredd", is currently in production and the latest sneak peek to the film emerges in form of set pictures. Obtained by Bleeding Cool, the images do not capture the shooting process but give a look at the Cape Town Civic Centre which is turned into Mega-City One for the movie.

One photo features a warning board which explains some regulations applied in the fictional city-state. Graffiti works on the city's wall are captured in another image, while other shots give a look at Mega City One's South Entrance and a loading dock.

The first look at Karl Urban as the titular character had previously emerged in a form of a picture which was reportedly taken during rehearsals. Unfortunately, the actor's face was barely seen as it was half hidden under Dredd's helmet.
