Tony Leung and Kriw Wu will star in Jingle Ma’s Europe Raiders

The third part in the commerciually successful franchise (combined $4,6 million in Hong Kong) directed by Jingle Ma, after “Tokyo Raiders” and “Seoul Raiders” will star Tony Leung Chiu-wai (Infernal Affairs, Hero, In the Mood for Love, 2046) amd Kris Wu, the former member of the K-pop band Exo and protagonist of “The Mermaid”, China’s most succesful film of all time.

Production will start next month in Italy,Austria Shanghai and Japan, headed by Wong Kar-wai’s Jet Tone Films who has implemented a budget of $26 million for the film, with the release being set for 2017.

Kriw Wu, who has already secured international status, is currently filming Luc Besson’s “Valerian” and “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage”, in Hollywood.

Tony Leung, who also starred in the other two parts, will join after completing Jiajia Zhang’s “The Ferryman”, which is also produced by Jet Tone Films.

Wong Kar Wai Adapting Romantic Drama I Belonged To You
Hong Kong auteur Wong Kar Wai appears to have his next project, author Zhang Jiajia posting on his Weibo account that Wkw has licensed a short tale called The Ferryman from his collection I Belonged To You. The story revolves around a woman having an affair with a married artist and while backers Mei Ah had already announced that Wong would be shooting something in 2015 this is the first indication as to what. A very popular anthology of stories, several other segments of I Belonged To You have reportedly been licensed for adaptation by other film companies though Wkw's segment will almost certainly be the most high profile for international audiences....

Wong Kar Wai Adapts Zhang Jiajia's "Ferryman"
It took years for us to get "The Grandmaster" which ultimately opened to mixed reviews. Now, acclaimed filmmaker Wong Kar-wai is turning his attention towards his next film which should hopefully come to fruition quicker.

Film Biz reports that Wong's new project will be an adaptation of top-selling weibo author Zhang Jiajia's short story "Ferryman" from the collection "I Belonged to You". The story follows an affair between a girl and a married artist in Changchun, China.

A top-shelf cast is being assembled for the romantic tale which is expected to commence production next year.

Another interesting project on the slate in 2015. The next project from filmmaker Wong Kar-Wai has been confirmed and kinda/sorta announced, with some actual specific information about what it is. The Chinese filmmaker last brought us the beautiful martial arts epic The Grandmaster, but he hasn't made much else since My Blueberry Nights in 2007. Now he's getting ready to direct another romance, to follow up many in his career (like 2046, In the Mood for Love, Chungking Express). This one is an adaptation of Zhang Jiajia's short story Ferryman, as this will be titled, from the collection I Belonged to You sold in China. Read on.
