10 Reasons Warrior Season 4 Still Needs To Happen (& Why Netflix Should Save It)
Image
Spoilers are ahead for Warrior season 3.

Warrior season 4 has the opportunity to explore and deepen the relationship between Ah Sahm and Mai Ling, setting up a long-awaited sibling alliance. Mai Ling, free from the influence of the Long Zii, can forge a new identity and discover her true self in Warrior season 4. The fourth installment of Warrior could dig into the conflict between Li Yong and Mai Ling since their lovers-to-enemies plot adds a lot of tension.

Given Warrior season 3's cliffhanger ending, the fourth installment of the martial arts crime drama still needs to happen. Based on an original concept by the late Bruce Lee, the show has faced renewal challenges in the past. Warrior actually began as a Cinemax series, but when the show's home network axed its original content arm, Warrior landed at Max, a seemingly better home. However, just a few months after Warrior's highly anticipated third season aired,...

In an industry marred by fleeting trends and ephemeral interests, certain sagas evolve to tell stories that resonate profoundly with their audience. ‘Warrior’ Season 4: Is It Renewed Or Canceled? What Can We Expect Next?
Image
Warrior, an action-packed Cinemax drama, honors the creative legacy of Bruce Lee. Taking inspiration from Lee’s writings, the series began its journey across two seasons before arriving with its third chapter. Set against the backdrop of late 19th-century San Francisco, the third season explores the eventful journey of Ah Sham, a skilled fighter on a mission to reunite with his sister. However, his path takes an unexpected turn as he becomes embroiled with the powerful tongs of Chinatown, plunging him into a world of intense power struggles.

Intense storytelling and well-choreographed action sequences stand as hallmarks of Warrior. Season 3 had masterfully deepened the intricate storyline, introducing new characters and twists. This season began with a fight between Ah Sham and Mai Ling’s groups, causing chaos in Chinatown. Young Jun took on more responsibilities as Hop Wei faced a dire financial crisis. A significant part of the story revolved...

Dianne Doan and Andrew Koji in Warrior (2019)
Warrior Season 3 Episode 9 Review: All of Death is Going Home
Dianne Doan and Andrew Koji in Warrior (2019)
As events unfold, the hope of seeing the Tongs united keeps dimming.

There was a major shift in the narrative on Warrior Season 3 Episode 9 as many characters made moves, shifting the story in an entirely new direction.

Warrior Season 3 teased alliances, but what unfolded here could not be further from that assessment.

We'll begin at the beginning, and that's with Lai at Douglas's place.

I thought that Lai was working with Ah Toy to bring down Douglas, but after she attacked him, I quickly realized how wrong I was.

A sword fight ensued that saw Douglas emerge on top, which didn't sit well. How was a businessman who spends most of his time in meetings and raining holy hell on people stronger than a martial art expert who was like a killing machine?

We had never seen Douglas in a sword fight before, so we had no prior knowledge about...

Warrior Season 3 Replicates Game of Thrones' Red Wedding Moment
Image
The following contains spoilers for Warrior Season 3, Episode 8, "You Know When You're Losing a Fight," which debuted Aug. 3 on Max.

In Warrior Season 3, there's been a lot of politics at play in San Francisco. The late 1800s is finding many seedy men with power making moves, including Mayor Buckley, Leary and Strickland. They all want to consolidate and ensure white supremacy rules, booting out the Chinese from American society.

However, Mai Ling has that Cersei vibe, weaving tangled webs to get her Tong, the Long Zii, up the corporate ladder. She doesn't care if she has to sell out her own people and kiss up to the Americans. She just wants her share of the pie. Shockingly, as Mai Ling deploys another nefarious tactic, HBO fans are treated to another take on Game of Thrones' most brutal sequence: the Red Wedding.

‘Warrior’ Season 3: Max Martial Arts Series Is Back to Kick Some Serious Ass
Image
Midway through a sword fight in an upcoming episode of Max’s period action drama Warrior, one of the combatants loses her blade and seems on the verge of death at the hands of the man she wants revenge against. He’s so confident in his abilities, though, that he invites her to pick up her weapon and resume, smugly telling her, “You came all this way. It would be a shame to give up now.”

For a while, it seemed that the TV business had given up on Warrior.

What to Expect in Season 3 of Max's Warrior
Image
When fans heard Cinemax was canceling Warrior, many were disappointed. Warrior was a way of keeping Bruce Lee's legacy alive, ensuring Asian representation would be visible on TV. Thankfully, Max picked up the series, with a third season due later in June 2023.

While many would consider Warrior's fanbase a niche audience, the show has gotten more popular and its breakout stars got a taste of the limelight too. Warrior star Andrew Koji previously appeared as Storm Shadow in Snake Eyes, while Joe Taslim was Sub-Zero in the Mortal Kombat reboot. This helped build the buzz for Warrior Season 3 and from the trailer, it's clear both men and their respecting Tongs are going to have yet another bloody war on their hands.

Mortal Kombat and the Man Who Gave Sub-Zero a Soul
Image
Mortal Kombat’s Joe Taslim (aka Sub-Zero) is one of the hottest martial artists on screen right now. It’s been a decade since his breakout film The Raid took the world by storm, and Taslim has consistently delivered high-octane action with dashing panache ever since. As movie martial arts masters go, few others are on Taslim’s level. While most action stars have some martial arts training in their bag of tricks, Taslim is more invested than most.

Prior to The Raid, Taslim was a professional Judo athlete and a member of Indonesia’s National Judo team from 1997 to 2009. He won gold medals at the Southeast Asia Judo Championships and the Indonesian National Games. No other actor can boast a competitive record like this. What’s more, Taslim is also trained in Wushu and Taekwondo, and he picked up Pencak Silat for The Raid, so his combative range goes...

Warrior Season 2 Episode 5 Review: Not for a Drink, a F*ck, or a G*damn Prayer
Image
This Warrior review contains spoilers.

Warrior Season 2 Episode 5

The episode opens with Li Yong (Joe Taslim) doing some shirtless Kung Fu but the scene is too short to determine what style he is doing. Perhaps it’s something just made up for Warrior. Taslim’s background is in in Judo, not Kung Fu, but that doesn’t matter. He looks great doing whatever he’s doing and it’s a promising opening for this episode.

The previous two episodes lacked enough Kung Fu to satisfy dedicated Bruce Lee fans. Fortunately, this episode makes up for that and then some. It’s the strongest episode in Season 2 so far, both dramatically and choreographically.

It’s a rough one for Penny (Joanna Vanderham) as her world collapses. As she inspects the devastation of Mercer Steel after Leary’s (Dean Jagger) terrorist bombing, she asks Jacob (Kenneth Fok) “What is that terrible smell?...

Bruce Lee in Fist of Fury (1972)
‘Warrior’ Review: Bruce Lee’s Vision of Chinese in the Old West Comes to Rowdy, Violent Life on Cinemax
Bruce Lee in Fist of Fury (1972)
With the arrival of the long-gestating “Warrior” on Cinemax, justice for Bruce Lee has never tasted so bloody bittersweet. The martial arts legend pitched the concept for a series in which he’d star as a Chinese hired muscle in the Old West, but instead, the concept was tweaked and became the whitewashed “Kung Fu” series starring David Carradine. Nearly 50 years later, Lee’s original vision has come to television thanks to his daughter Shannon Lee, “Fast and the Furious” director Justin Lin, and “Banshee” creator Jonathan Tropper. As direct and forceful as Bruce Lee’s famed one-inch punch, “Warrior” is short on subtlety but delivers all the adrenaline-pumping martial arts smackdowns one would expect from both the master and from Cinemax’s brutal brand.

In the series, Chinese immigrant Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji) arrives in San Francisco 1878 on a personal mission, but when his fighting skills come to light,...

‘Warrior’ Review: A Bruce Lee Vision Brought to Vivid Life
Bruce Lee in Fist of Fury (1972)
Among the more fascinating legends in the short but memorable life of Bruce Lee is the TV show the martial-arts icon pitched in the early Seventies about a Chinese immigrant traveling through America in the late 19th century. The studio politely declined, the Lee family story goes, then stole key elements of the pitch to make Kung Fu, a Western-meets-Eastern where the immigrant was played by the Caucasian actor David Carradine.

On April 5th, the legend becomes fact in an unexpected, wonderful way with Warrior, a new Cinemax drama inspired...
