‘F1’ Sound Team Placed Mics on Racing Car Air Ducts and Exhausts to Catch ‘Full-Fat Sounds’ and Immerse Audiences in the World of Formula 1
Image
Joseph Kosinski had one instruction for the sound team behind his latest feature “F1”: It needed to be as immersive as possible, and he wanted the audience to feel like they were in the car.

Except, no movie had ever really recorded the authentic sounds of Formula 1. Re-recording mixer Juan Peralta explains, “Formula 1 has been so tied up in rights, so there’s never a movie made about it. Being in the car, in a theatrical environment, especially the F1 car, is a new thing. We’ve seen other racing movies with other types of cars. Joseph wanted to feel like we were at the races. He wanted to feel the speed, basically. So that was our biggest challenge with the effects was, anytime we’re on that car or in that car with that point of view, that you feel it, and you feel the speed of it.

Brad Pitt's F1 Praised for Racing Accuracy as It Debuts With Thrilling Score
Image
Brad Pitt's new sports drama, F1, is not the first film to try to bring the adrenaline-pumping environment of racing to the big screen. However, it looks like it's the first one to get it right.

The new sports drama has Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski at the helm, with a script by Ehren Kruger. Kosinski has previously proven his skills with the billion-dollar Top Gun sequel and other exciting action films, and he delivers again with the racing drama, which was filmed and produced with the involvement of Fia, the Formula 1 governing body, as well as several racing drivers like seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton. Ahead of its worldwide release on June 27, F1 debuted with a thrilling 81% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

F1 follows Sonny Hayes, a former Formula 1 driver who had a horrible crash that forced him to retire, failing to reach his potential. However,...

Joseph Kosinski directed the film, which also features Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia, Shea Wigham, Joseph Balderrama, Sarah Niles, Samson Kayo, Callie Cooke and Layne Harper.

Dubbed “the greatest that never was,” Sonny Hayes (Pitt) was Formula 1’s most promising phenom of the 1990s until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he’s a nomadic racer-for-hire when he’s approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Bardem), owner of a struggling Formula 1 team that is on the verge of collapse. Ruben convinces Sonny to come back to Formula 1 for one last shot at saving the team and being the best in the world. He’ll drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Idris), the team’s hotshot rookie intent on setting his own pace. But as the engines roar, Sonny’s past...

Brad Pitt’s ‘F1’ Unveils Electrifying First 10 Minutes at CinemaCon With Ultra-Immersive Daytona Racing Footage
Image
It’s lights out and away we go at CinemaCon, where director Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer took the stage at Caesars Palace to talk up the upcoming racing drama “F1,” starring Brad Pitt.

“We believe this is going to be the cinematic event of the summer,” Kosinski and Bruckheimer told the room of movie theater owners. They happen to know a little something about crafting compelling blockbusters, having worked together on 2022’s billion-dollar smash “Top Gun: Maverick” with Tom Cruise. “We filled your theaters all summer long [with ‘Top Gun: Maverick’] to the tune of $1.5 billion. We’re here to tell you that we’re ready to do it again.”

In order to demonstrate their confidence in the big-budget action epic, Kosinski and Bruckheimer unveiled the electrifying first 10 minutes of the film. In “F1,” Pitt — who didn’t attend CinemaCon — plays a middle-aged Formula One driver who likes to...

We Need to Talk About Red Bull: Daniel Ricciardo’s Curse, and Why ‘Drive to Survive’ Season 8 Can’t Ignore Horner’s Failing Empire
Image
Red Bull has been at the top of the Formula 1 game for about half a decade. The Milton Keynes-based outfit has brought in four successive world championships with Max Verstappen at the helm. To some, the Dutch racer seems to be hogging all the attention. To others, it is simply Verstappen’s skill as the best driver of his generation on full display.

However, as Formula One enters the 2025 season, the car is simply not performing the way it should, considering its championship-winning turnout for the past 4 years. For Drive to Survive, the barest hint about Red Bull’s underwhelming performance is enough to spark dramatic ideas. One of those might have to do with the Daniel Ricciardo curse and the aftermath of his exit.

Is F1's Liam Lawson Really Being Replaced By Former Rb Teammate Yuki Tsunoda? Here's What We Know!
Image
Rumors are swirling about Liam Lawson‘s future at the Oracle Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team!

The 23-year-old New Zealander has had a rough start to the 2025 F1 season, after crashing in the debut race in Australia, and finishing outside the points in China. Liam has yet to score any points in the first two races, or the sprint race, this year, while his teammate, 4-time world champion Max Verstappen has scored 36.

Liam joined the team after replacing Sergio Perez, who parted ways with Red Bull after an unimpressive second half of 2024. That year, Liam drove for junior team Rb (now Racing Bulls), replacing Daniel Ricciardo, and earned the team four points in six races.

Now, rumors have been going rampant since Melbourne, and there are new reports suggesting Red Bull will replace Liam soon with Racing Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda.

Image
As former Red Bull drivers with 14 seasons in Formula 1 each and 14 Grand Prix wins between them, Daniel Ricciardo and Sergio Pérez have the perfect résumé to win them a seat in Cadillac for the upcoming 2026 season. But despite such extensive experience, there are a lot of factors stopping Drive to Survive‘s fan-favorite star from returning to the tracks after his 2024 exit.

“I Don’t Think The Crowd Realized That Brad Pitt Was In The Car”: F1’s Racing Scenes Were Filmed During Real Races, Director Reveals
Image
The director of F1 explains exactly how the movie's realistic racetrack scenes were brought to life. The upcoming movie stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a retired Formula One racer who is brought back to support a young new hotshot, Joshua "Noah" Pearce (Damson Idris). While the F1 story is fictional, the production provides realism in many ways, including working with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile to craft the movie and bringing in real-life racing legend Lewis Hamilton as a producer in addition to his onscreen appearance playing himself opposite other racers including Sergio Pérez and Lando Norris.

ScreenRant was in attendance at a virtual Q&a with director Joseph Kosinski promoting the new trailer for F1. During the conversation, the topic turned to the realistic racing sequences, which were shot during actual Formula One races ahead of the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix. Kosinski revealed that the crowds in the stands were real,...

Brad Pitt's High-Octane F1 Debuts Official Trailer
Image
Brad Pitt will pull out all the stops in the upcoming Apple Original Film F1. The project will star the actor as a retired Formula One racer.

Warner Bros. and Apple TV joined forces to release the official trailer for the upcoming sports drama in a livestreaming session on YouTube. The official trailer, which clocks in at 2:30 minutes, follows Pitt's Sonny Hayes as he attempts to return to the intense and competitive world of Formula 1. Not as a driver, but as a mentor and consultant to a struggling Formula 1 team.

The release of the trailer on Mar. 13 is not coincidental, considering that the real Formula 1 is set to kick off the new season on Sunday, Mar. 16, with the Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, Australia.

The upcoming film had previously released a teaser trailer last month, which gave a first look at Pitt's character,...

“We know what he’s capable of”: ‘Drive to Survive’ Season 8 Could’ve Featured Daniel Ricciardo but Netflix Revealed What Went Wrong
Image
For Netflix, there has been no recent project that has been as successful as Drive to Survive. The Formula 1 documentary gives the audience a perfect combination of facts and drama, making it a highly intense viewing experience for the audience. Amid it all, 20 drivers play with life and death under grueling conditions to rise to the very top of the sport.

Such intense competition is not born out of mere competitiveness and rivalry. The honor of their names being recorded in history matters more than simply winning a Grand Prix. As such, each racer gives their 100% once they get on the tracks until getting blindsided by life as did Daniel Ricciardo with Red Bull.

Daniel Ricciardo Returning Back to Formula 1? ‘Drive to Survive’ Poster Boy Confirms His Stance with Cadillac Becoming 11th F1 Team

The latest season of Drive to Survive is already out battling the elements in the harsh climate of today’s Formula 1. The volatile 2024 season was packed with surprises, both nice and devastating. However, Red Bull dropping Daniel Ricciardo with 6 races left to go was definitely not a pleasant experience.

Now, the Netflix series navigates the treacherous waters of F1 fandom without its fan-favorite poster boy. Although Daniel Ricciardo’s emotional exit powered Drive to Survive Season 7, the Netflix show is left to contend with his absence in Season 8 – a vacuum that can hardly be replaced by just about anyone.

However, 2026 might have a few surprises for us as well.

“I don’t think so”: Drive to Survive Won’t Leave Lewis Hamilton Alone After What He Said to Carlos Sainz About Joining Mercedes
Image
With allegations slandering its authenticity left, right, and center, Netflix’s Drive to Survive is not anyone’s cup of tea. The series may have made Formula 1 accessible all over the world, but it is just as much a curse as a blessing to the sport and its devoted audience.

Six seasons in, Drive to Survive has made some ripples in the F1 community for garnishing the facts. However, when entire threads of conversation are overheard and put on display, the meaning behind a direct quote can hardly be brought into doubt. It seems as though DTS Season 7 records one such moment between Carlos Sainz and his successor at Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton.

“I never said you were”: ‘Drive to Survive’ Deliberately Made Will Buxton a Villain in Sergio Pérez’s Eyes After a Niki Lauda Comparison
Image
In the world of Formula One, there are a handful of names that will never be diminished or forgotten by history. Niki Lauda, the infamous rival of James Hunt, who is regarded as one of the most cunning strategists on the track, happens to be one of those icons. And although Drive to Survive exists beyond the era of the Austrian race car driver, it’s using a Mexican to fill in the void.

With an affinity for dramatizing events and juxtaposing misleading audio over video montages to create a false narrative, Drive to Survive has been known to disregard facts in favor of fiction. And that aspect of the Netflix series has now managed to impact the former Formula 1 driver Sergio “Checo” Pérez.

“Netflix about to receive a barrage of hate from Mexicans”: ‘Drive to Survive’ Season 7 Will Make Sergio Pérez Miserable After Official Synopsis Releases
Image
Drive to Survive is about to pillage Red Bull driver Sergio Pérez of his last morsel of reputation left within this industry. Given the tendency of the Netflix series to exaggerate and dramatize an event well beyond its factual accuracy, one can already tell that the Checo episode will be a total bloodbath.

After a contentious performance run throughout 2023 and 2024, Pérez parted ways with the Austrian team at the end of the 2024 season. Now, the position for Red Bull’s second seat remains up in the air.

Although Liam Lawson has been temporarily promoted from the junior Rb team to fill in as Max Verstappen’s teammate, the 2025 season will prove to be quite an entertaining watch as the 22-year-old novice steps into his 35-year-old predecessor’s shoes.

F1: Behind-the-scenes video offers sneak peek at Brad Pitt’s groundbreaking racing movie
Joseph Kosinski - Santa Monica, CA 2022
I can’t say I’m a big racing fan, but even I can admit that the glimpses we’ve seen of Joseph Kosinski’s F1 look quite amazing. If you’d like another look at the upcoming film, a behind-the-scenes video was released at the recent F1 75 Live season launch event at London’s The O2.

“You can talk about speed,” Kosinski said, “but we wanted to make audiences feel it.” The production used the “groundbreaking” camera technology they used on Top Gun: Maverick but “pushed it even further” for F1. The racing footage is incredibly thrilling, and even F1 driver Lewis Hamilton (who is a producer on the film) was blown away, saying, “The F1 movie is as authentic a racing movie has ever been.” You can check out the entire behind-the-scenes video for F1 above; it’s well worth the watch.

‘F1’ Trailer: Brad Pitt Hits the Racetrack in New Sports Drama from the Team Behind ‘Top Gun: Maverick’
Image
Do you feel the need for speed? Then boy, do we have the movie for you.

Revving into theaters on June 27, 2025, “F1” features Brad Pitt as retired Formula One driver Sonny Hayes, whose exit from the sport came as a result of a horrific crash. Brought back to train and drive alongside a rookie prodigy (Damson Idris) by his friend and Apex Grand Prix team owner (Javier Bardem), Hayes doesn’t merely want to return to the sport, but upend it entirely.

“F1” comes from much of the same team behind the 2022 Tom Cruise hit “Top Gun: Maverick,” including director Joseph Kosinski, screenwriter Ehren Kruger, composer Hans Zimmer, cinematographer Claudio Miranda, and producers Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman. Pitt also serves as a producer alongside his Plan B partners Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. Adding a note of authenticity to the production, real-life Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton is also involved as a producer.

After rising to fame by playing a thief in Thelma & Louise, and later donning the role of the mythological figure in Troy, a soldier in Fury, and a goofy secret agent in Bullet Train, Brad Pitt is now set to step into the racetrack for his upcoming movie F1.

The upcoming production by Jerry Bruckheimer alongside Apple Studios and Warner Bros.,F1, has just released its first full trailer and things are looking amazing for Brad Pitt and Joseph Kosinki's high octane project. Zac Efron & Sam Worthington Hang Out at F1's Australian Grand Prix
Image
Zac Efron was among the celebrities in attendance at the 2024 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix on Sunday (March 24) in Melbourne, Australia.

The 36-year-old actor was joined by his brother Dylan Efron (not pictured), and was even seen chatting with Sam Worthington inside the Red Bull Racing garage.

At one point, Sam was also seen talking with Red Bull team principle Christian Horner.

It was an unfortunate race for Red Bull as Max Verstappen‘s car faced a mechanical issue and was out of the race on the third lap. His teammate Sergio Perez landed in fifth place.

Winning the race was Carlos Sainz, who just had appendicitis surgery two weeks prior. He was followed by teammate Charles Leclerc, in a big 1-2 win for Ferrari, and McLaren’s Lando Norris in P3.

Other celebs in attendance at the Australian Grand Prix included fellow actor Eric Bana, former F1 driver Mark Webber,...

Drive To Survive: Everything Max Verstappen, Other Drivers & Team Bosses Have Said About The Show (Max Doesn't Like The Series)
Image
Max Verstappen criticizes Drive To Survive for portraying exaggerated and sensationalized content without depth. Christian Horner likens the show to "Kardashian on wheels" and criticizes how it distorts reality and misrepresents teams. Formula 1 drivers, like Carlos Sainz, feel disappointed with how Drive To Survive misrepresents teams and the sport's true essence.

Formula 1 drivers have been vocal about their desire to drive the car purely and avoid the drama, with their major star, Max Verstappen, openly critiquing Netflix's Drive To Survive. Although Drive To Survive season 6 delivered massive drama, it still had one glaring omission that fans quickly noticed. None of the episodes dove deep into Max, Redbull, or his teammate Sergio Perez, Aka Checo. Obviously, it was the most talked about storyline by the media since Redbull and Max broke records, but they still deserved a whole episode.

Drivers, fans, and team principles alike have insinuated that...

Formula 1: Perez beats Leclerc, Verstappen to victory in action-packed Baku Sprint race
Image
Baku (Azerbaijan), April 29 (Ians) Red Bull Racing driver Sergio Perez claimed the first Sprint race victory of the season at the Baku City Circuit on Saturday, beating Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen to the chequered flag for the maximum eight points on offer in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2023.

With F1’s Sprint format being revised for 2023, a new ‘Shootout’ qualifying session set the grid for the 17-lap dash, which took place in pleasant weather conditions and featured action from start to finish.

One driver who did not take part was F1 rookie Logan Sargeant, who crashed out of the Shootout and was withdrawn from the 100-kilometre Sprint due to the significant damage his Williams car sustained in the incident.

Meanwhile, the grid missed another driver after Alpine made suspension changes on Esteban Ocon’s car under parc ferme conditions, with the team enduring a particularly challenging weekend on the shores of the Caspian Sea.

Red Bull's Sergio Perez wins F1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
Image
Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), March 20 (Ians) Red Bull’s Sergio Perez took victory in Sunday’s Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, as teammate Max Verstappen salvaged second place after starting 15th.

Starting from pole position, Perez lost out to Fernando Alonso at the first corner, but regained the lead on Lap 4 and was never headed as he took his fifth career win and his first since last season’s Monaco Grand Prix, a Xinhua report said.

Verstappen had started the race well down the order after a driveshaft issue had ruined his qualifying session, but a Safety Car period on Lap 18 helped him vault up the order, and the Dutchman was up to second place behind Perez by Lap 25.

Verstappen complained about problems with his driveshaft late in the race, and though the Dutchman managed to bring the car home and set the race’s fastest lap, he never came within four seconds of Perez.

Formula 1: Mercedes has been given a reality check, says Russell after 7th place in Bahrain
Image
Sakhir (Bahrain), March 6 (Ians) With British drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell in the cockpit of a new car, Mercedes was expected to give champions Red Bull and Max Verstappen a run for their money in the Formula 1 season opener in Bahrain Grand Prix.

The hopes were bolstered with Mercedes doing well in the qualifying rounds, while in the end Red Bull took the top two positions on the podium with Verstappen and Sergio Perez, Hamilton finished fifth and Russell took the seventh spot.

Thus, Russell insists Mercedes must go “back to the drawing board” after he finished in seventh position in the season opener in Bahrain — with the British driver questioning whether the team have been “too conservative” with their 2023 car, the W14.

Russell lined up in sixth position (P6) on the grid but lost a place to teammate Hamilton — who finished fifth on Sunday — at the start,...

Verstappen cruises to F1 Bahrain Grand Prix win
Image
Bahrain, March 6 (Ians) Red Bull’s Max Verstappen started the 2023 Formula 1 season as he had finished 2022, scoring an ominously easy win in the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.

Having dominated the 2022 season, Red Bull’s pre-season testing form had suggested that they would remain the team to beat in 2023, and that assertion was borne out when Verstappen and Sergio Perez locked out the front row in Saturday’s qualifying session, reports Xinhua news agency.

Leading the field away from pole position, Verstappen was never threatened as he eased to his first ever victory at the Bahrain International Circuit.

Behind Verstappen, Perez made it a Red Bull 1-2. The Mexican had lost second place to Charles Leclerc at the start, but took the position back by passing the Ferrari on Lap 26.

The final podium place went to a resurgent Fernando Alonso on his first outing for Aston Martin, after surviving contact on Lap 1 from teammate Lance Stroll.
