Cameras have started rolling on Sessions, a British addiction drama from Indie production house Hyprr Films.

The film follows Richie, played by Daniel O’Reilly, a man battling his demons while navigating the impact of substance abuse on his relationships and mental health.

The cast features Jonas Armstrong (The Bay), Jaime Winstone (Sumotherhood), Leo Gregory (Green Street), Preeya Kalidas (Four Lions), Percelle Ascott (Doctor Who), and Rupert Graves (Sherlock). Giles Alderson (The Dare) will direct.

The film is produced by Carl Shepherd for Hyprr Films alongside Lucinda Rhodes Thakrar (One Ranger) for Picture Perfect. Executive Producer is Jo Cordell. The film is written by O’Reilly, Jonathan Kogan, Alderson, and Tobias Vees, with Kate Plantin serving as Casting Director.

Lupin maker Gaumont has launched a production services division. Helmed by Roxanne Pinheiro, who was previously Head of Production for the outfit’s TV distribution unit, Gaumont Production Services will oversee shoots in France for both Gaumont and third-party producers from around the world. Pinheiro, whose past credits include the likes of The Walking Dead, 15:17 to Paris and Fifty Shades of Grey, will work closely with filmmaker William Pruss. “Together, surrounded by a thriving team and Gaumont’s centennial network, we’ll make sure our clients get the best of what France has to offer, in terms of production value and overall experience,” said Pinheiro.

“Bridgerton” star Phoebe Dynevor and “Aftersun” writer-director Charlotte Wells are among the emerging talents recognized at the British Independent Film Awards’ (BIFA) New Talent categories.

Dynevor has been longlisted in the Breakthrough Performance category for Sky film “The Colour Room” and Wells twice, in the Debut Director and Debut Screenwriter categories.

In all, 28 fiction and 14 documentary features have been longlisted, including in a new category for BIFA’s 25th year, Best Debut Director – Feature Documentary. As the summer fades and festival season begins there’s still time for one of Netflix’s hopefuls to unfurl a red carpet in the capital. Tonight in the heart of the West End the UK Premiere for I Came By took place. The new film from director Babak Anvari, the thriller stars George MacKay, Hugh Bonneville, Kelly Macdonald, Percelle Ascott and Varada Sethu. We were on the red carpet to talk with the director and two of his leads actors all about the film.

Commissioned by Fiona Lamptey who is focusing on developing distinctive British productions to create bold new stories to entertain and excite a global audience. The first in its list is the feature from writer/director Babak Anvari.

The film will focus on a rebellious young graffiti artist, who targets the homes of the wealthy elite, discovers a shocking secret that leads him on a journey endangering himself and those closest to him.

The cast will include Hugh Bonneville as Sir Hector Blake, George Mackay as Toby Nealey, Kelly Macdonald as Lizzie Nealey, Percelle Ascott as Jay Agassi and Varada Sethu as Naz.

Youth-skewing British broadcaster E4 has struck a first-look development deal with the production team behind YouTube channel Wall of Comedy and stars of hit teen drama Youngers.

It has inked the overall del with Percelle Ascott and Joivan Wade, who run Wall of Production with Tafara Makopa. The deal will see the company develop a raft of scripted and non-scripted projects at the Channel 4-backed network as it looks to bolster its programming for younger audiences.

The deal is unusual in the UK as overall development deals with broadcasters are few and far between.

The pair star and co-produce online drama Shiro’s Story and they starred in Youngers, which aired on E4. Ascott is also the lead in Netflix series The Innocents, whilst Wade is the lead in Warner Bros. and DC Comics’ series Doom Patrol.

We previously learned the details for the next two outings and now, the titles and synopses have been released for episode 9 and the grand finale, episode 10.

First up, the penultimate installment of season 11 is called “It Takes You Away,” from writer Ed Hime and director Jamie Childs (his third this season). Guest stars include Ellie Wallwork and Kevin Eldon and it promises to take the Thirteenth Doctor and her friends to creepy rural Norway.

Ever since Netflix entered the original television game with the debut of “House of Cards” in February 2013, the term “binge-watching” has become the default word to describe the act of streaming multiple episodes of a series in a short period of time. The streaming giant singlehandedly popularized the act of binge-watching, but it turns out Netflix is not too fond of the word. Guy Pearce revealed on the Empire Film Podcast he was prohibited by Netflix to talk about binge-watching in interviews promoting his Netflix series “The Innocents.”

“I don’t think Netflix likes the term ‘binge,'” Pearce said when asked by Empire if viewers would binge-watch “The Innocents.” “When we did the promotion for [‘The Innocents’] in the [United States], we were strictly sort of instructed beforehand not to talk about ‘binge-watching.'”

“The Innocents,” Netflix’s British/Norwegian series that puts a supernatural twist on the star-crossed romance, concluded on quite the cliffhanger. After eight episodes in which young lovers June (Sorcha Groundsell) and Harry (Percelle Ascott) ran away from home only to discover she’s a shapeshifter, their adventures came to a violent, disastrous end.

In the action-packed episode, after secrets are revealed and sacrifices are made, two people end up dead, one person is in police custody, two people are rendered comatose, and June is mortally wounded. IndieWire spoke to the cast and crew of the series about the finale and whether or not Season 2 is in the cards. While creators Hania Elkington and Simon Duric couldn’t confirm the series will continue, their caginess was perhaps the best indicator that a second season seems likely.

Netflix has released a trailer for their new original series The Innocents and all is not as it would appear.

The eight-episode series focuses on teenagers Harry and June who run away from their repressive families to be together, they’re derailed by an extraordinary discovery – June’s ability to shape-shift.

As the star-crossed lovers struggle to control this strange new power, a mysterious professor reveals that June is not alone: there are more shifters out there like her, and he promises to cure June and reunite her with the mother who deserted her three years ago.
