Betty White’s career spanned nearly seven decades, and while she is likely most well-known for her role as Rose in The Golden Girls, the five-time Emmy Award-winning actor stole the show in this 1999 creature feature. Now, 26 years later, Lake Placid, starring Bill Pullman, Bridget Fonda, and Oliver Platt, along with White, is becoming a sleeper hit on streaming.

Per FlixPatrol, Lake Placid is now the No. 7 most-streamed movie on AMC+ as of July 13. The movie from director Steve Miner and writer David E. Kelley is up from the No. 10 spot, which it held on July 5. The movie is ahead of Dark Winds, The Last Anniversary, and Ash, which hold the No. 8, 9, and 10 spots, respectively.

Lake Placid, billed as a dark comedy horror film, also stars Brendan Gleeson as Sheriff Hank Keogh, who, while waiting in a boat on Black Lake in Maine, his colleague and wildlife officer, goes scuba diving.

Scarlett Johansson has nothing but love for her Jurassic World Rebirth co-star Jonathan Bailey.

Throughout the press tour for their upcoming feature in the latest Jurassic Park sequel, the two actors have shared a few smooches on the red carpet. In particular, Johansson and Bailey locked lips at the film’s London premiere on June 17 and its New York City premiere on Monday.

The stars — and even one of the dinosaurs — of “Jurassic World Rebirth” hit a very green carpet in central London on Tuesday for the film’s world premiere.

Alongside director Gareth Edwards, Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey (no stranger to green carpets thanks to “Wicked”), Rupert Friend and Ed Skrein were in attendance at the Odeon Luxe cinema in Leicester Square. Also at the premiere was the film’s writer David Koepp, who penned the original franchise-launching “Jurassic Park,” producer Frank Marshall, plus composer Alexandre Desplat and Universal’s Donna Langley and Peter Cramer. Meanwhile, a tiny animatronic dinosaur — who appears in the film (and is named Delores by one of the younger characters) — posed for photos alongside her handler.

Speaking from the carpet, Johansson — wearing a figure-hugging pink dress — said “Rebirth” took the franchise back to its roots, noting Koepp’s involvement and Edwards being an “enormous fan” of Steven Spielberg.

In recent years, many films and TV shows have been rebooted or revived, with many proving unsuccessful. However, Tim Burton's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was a delightful exception.

“Bubble & Squeak” (2025) is an absurd marriage drama that puts companionship under a microscopic lens. It does that in a script filled with outlandish elements that seem straight out of a children’s book. Imagine a kid letting their imagination run wild and writing down every idea that popped into their head the moment it did. That’s how a lot of its gags sound. The film shows a European officer (Matt Berry) offering his unmistakable Werner Herzog impression and expecting his subordinates to speak only in English as they walk through the forest, looking for a couple accused of smuggling cabbages in a country where they are illegal.

The couple in question, Declan (Himesh Patel) and Delores (Sarah Goldberg) is an oddball duo. Declan is thoroughly analytical and looks at things so clinically that he sucks the life out of them. Delores is full of life and a sense of wonder.

Hallmark fans who were looking at their app to plan their Loveuary schedule noted that The Wish Swap switched premiere dates with Sisterhood, Inc. during February. TV Shows Ace confirmed with Hallmark that there was a switch. Here is now the official schedule. All movies premiere at 8 p.m., Eastern, on the Hallmark Channel. In addition, all four movies will be available to stream on Peacock up to 72 hours after the premiere. Lastly, all new movies will be available to stream on Hallmark+ the next day.

That happens to be the same month Alison returns to Days of our Lives as Sami after a two-year absence.

Suspending your disbelief is a requirement for viewing “Bubble & Squeak,” writer-director Evan Twohy’s directorial debut. A couple honeymooning in a country that bans cabbage doesn’t exactly scream romance — and there is none here. Because before Declan and Delores can even begin celebrating their nuptials — the culmination of a long courtship where they felt more compelled to buy a house together than to say “I do”— they are detained in customs.

When an agent informs them of their crime of smuggling contraband cabbage into the country, Declan is flabbergasted; he cannot fathom why anyone would put cabbage in their pants to go on vacation. The problem, however, is that Delores has done just that.

Cabbage, it turns out, is banned in this unnamed Slavic country because of its critical role in the nation’s collective trauma. Smuggling it carries a hefty price: large sums of money, dismemberment and maybe even death.

“We should have gone to Bora Bora like the Pattersons,” says Delores (Sarah Goldberg) in Bubble & Squeak, writer-director Evan Twohy’s feature debut. A quirky, prescriptively surreal comedy in the vein of the late Jeff Baena, with a hefty debt to the two Sacha Baron Cohen Borat movies, it’s a very Sundance kind of funny that goes all in on a very bizarre premise. If you go with it, it will take you all the way, but for those with a low tolerance for cheerfully madcap bonkersness, its lean 97 minutes may well seem like an eternity.

The pre-credit sequence very quickly sets the scene. Delores and her husband Declan (Himesh Patel) are sitting in a nondescript, steely-gray office room, where they have been waiting for well over an hour. The two Americans are on honeymoon, preferring to go “off the beaten track,” and their wanderlust has taken them to a strange,...

It starts intriguingly enough: An American couple (Himesh Patel and Sarah Goldberg) wait anxiously in a dowdy customs office in an unnamed Slavic country. They’ve just arrived for their honeymoon — Declan (Patel), we’re told, wanted the pair to enjoy a vacation somewhere “off the beaten path” and economical, Delores (Goldberg) doesn’t seem to have much pull in the matter — and are being held in official custody, believed to have already violated one of the major laws of their destination by smuggling in contraband. The law in question is beyond silly (this seems to be the bulk of the gag at hand), but filmmaker Evan Twohy’s concept for his debut film “Bubble & Squeak” is original enough to engender plenty of audience goodwill and patience, at least at first.

It’s about cabbages. Again: cabbages. And get ready to hear the word “cabbages” innumerable times over the film’s 95 minute running time.

How many times can the characters say “cabbages” in a movie before making you want to throw cabbages at the screen? With “Bubble & Squeak,” writer-director Evan Twohy sets out to answer that question — and little else of relevance to contemporary audiences. Not all movies need to serve up profound insights into the human condition, but the ones that don’t should at least be entertaining, and Twohy’s particular strain of absurdism is not just contrived, but deeply unfunny.

I must commend Tyler Perry. Out of the many films about World War II, he chose one so foreign to most of us that it almost seems entirely unbelievable. Perry’s latest feature isn’t a hoopla of major battles and violent sequences. It tells the untold story about the U.S. Army’s 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, another history lesson that's been buried long enough. The Six Triple Eight is about the first and only Women’s Army Corp unit of color that served overseas in Europe in WWII, a tale long overdue even if it is extremely rough to get through.

Sundance received 15,775 submissions from 156 countries, including 4,138 feature-length film submissions. The 87 films selected represent 33 countries and territories, with 36 of the chosen films coming from first-time feature filmmakers.

The 2025 Sundance Film Festival revealed the 87 feature films and six episodic projects selected for the festival on Wednesday, announcing that new films starring Jennifer Lopez, Dylan O’Brien, Chloe Sevigny, André Holland, Conan O’Brien and Olivia Colman will debut in Park City in January.

Ahead of the festival, which runs from from Jan. 23 to Feb. 2, TheWrap spoke to Eugene Hernandez, Director, Sundance Film Festival and Public Programming and Kim Yutani, Sundance Film Festival Director of Programming, about this year’s festival – what people should look out for and if they’re ready for the Sundance arrival of Lopez, whose new version of “Kiss of the Spider Woman” from director Bill Condon is one of the buzzier titles at the festival.

In the 1988 movie, the afterlifes representation was largely confined to the Neitherworld waiting room, Junos office, and the hallway to the lost souls room, but Beetlejuice 2 dives much deeper into this worlds lore.
