While there’s no concrete information yet, there’s a chance that the next two seasons of The Voice could be impacted by the tragic death of music mogul Brandon Blackstock.
Brandon passed away on Thursday morning (August 7) after a three-year battle with cancer. He was the ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson and father of their two children. He was also the former step-son of country singer Reba McEntire.
So, why will the next two seasons of The Voice be impacted?

For those who tuned in to Netflix’s “Building the Band,” there’s no denying that Alison Ogden was the narrator of the season — if not the outright main character. Despite her band Sweet Seduction falling short of making the finals, the singer made her presence known with her drive, talent and divisive personality.
Following last week’s Season 1 finale, Alison opened up to TheWrap about where she stands with her (former) Sweet Seduction bandmates, her fellow competitors, the people who didn’t get picked and even the judges, including late One Direction singer Liam Payne.
“Obviously, he was just — it actually feels so horrible to say ‘was’ — but he was such an incredible artist and creative force in the industry from such a young age, and he really shaped so much of what we expect from boy bands. He played such a transformative role in the music industry, in my opinion,...

The 2025-2026 season — specifically those shows returning and premiering in the fall — will be here before you know it! NBC has joined CBS, ABC, and Fox in unveiling its fall 2025 premiere dates. It all begins with The Voice‘s return, with coaches Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire, Niall Horan and Snoop Dogg, and the Brilliant Minds Season 2 premiere on Monday, September 22. Then the Law & Order franchise once again takes over Thursdays — yes, that’s Organized Crime back on the schedule, with the Season 5 episodes that already streamed on Peacock (there’s no news about Season 6) — on September 24. The other Dick Wolf franchise, One Chicago, kicks off its new seasons on Wednesday, October 1. NBC’s hit comedies St. Denis Medical and Happy’s Place both start their second seasons the week of November 3 with back-to-back airings on Mondays and Fridays. Surprise! The three-hour Law & Order Thursday lineup will be back on NBC’s fall schedule. Law & Order: Organized Crime, which moved from NBC to Peacock ahead of its fifth season a year ago, will return to the broadcast network. Its fifth season, which recently wrapped its run on the NBCUniversal streamer, will get a second window on NBC, airing in its old Thursday 10 Pm slot behind Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu. The L&w trio will debut their new seasons Sept. 25.
The intention with Organized Crime‘s move to Peacock was to make the drama starring Christopher Meloni even more serialized and edgy. While it is serialized, Season 5 was not as dark as anticipated, making it suitable for a 10 Pm airing on broadcast, where the expectation is that it would reach a largely new audience.

Netflix’s latest music reality show, Building the Band, first graced our screens on July 9, 2025, and quickly became a sleeper hit. With its blind band formation format, talented mentors like Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland, and powerhouse performances from the contestants, the show brought a refreshing change to Netflix’s reality television landscape.
The show also stands out as one of Liam Payne’s final televised appearances before his death. Additionally, the show was hosted by Aj McLean of the Backstreet Boys and gained traction in its short-lived three-week run on the streamer. The finale on July 23, 2025, saw 3Quency, a fan favorite band, take home the grand prize (via Netflix), but not without speculations around a possible Season 2.

The three champion coaches will compete in a Triple Turn Competition that will provide the victor with a Battle-round Super Steal that nullifies any rival's attempt to steal a sought-after singer. In the Knockouts, the trio of coaches will bring back two artists each from their past teams to go head-to-head in an In-Season All-Star Competition. Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Adam Levine will return as coaches for “The Voice” Season 29.
Clarkson, Legend and Levine, all of whom have served as coaches for multiple seasons of “The Voice” and won at least one season, will return to the NBC singing competition show’s red chairs for the upcoming 29th season, airing in 2026, the network announced Tuesday. The returning coaches will take the baton from Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg, Niall Horan and Reba McEntire, who will serve as coaches for Season 28 premiering this fall.

It marks a step change for the unscripted world with Peacock’s The Traitors also competing again after winning last year.
The other nominees in the category are RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Amazing Race and Top Chef.

Nicole Scherzinger, mentor and judge on Netflix’s new reality show Building the Band, is opening up about filming with Liam Payne before the singer’s tragic death last year.
The Pussycat Dolls singer was one of the creative brains behind One Direction during her time as a judge on the U.K. X-Factor, helping to put together the group that catapulted Payne and fellow band members Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan to global stardom in 2010.
Scherzinger spoke to Billboard about filming the Netflix contest — where 50 musicians form six bands without ever seeing each other — alongside host Aj McLean, Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland and Payne.

Netflix dropped the trailer for singing competition “Building the Band” on Tuesday, complete with a look at some of Liam Payne’s notes for the contestants.
“I need to feel a connection between you guys,” the late One Direction singer says in the clip. “How these bands are put together is not normal — we weren’t put together that way.”
Payne will be a guest judge on “Building the Band” next month alongside Kelly Rowland, lead judge/mentor Nicole Scherzinger and host Aj McLean. The series will combine elements of “Love Is Blind” and “Making the Band” in order to give 50 singers the chance to craft their ideal musical groups … all without seeing each other face-to-face.
Six groups will then battle it out onstage to see who wins. The participants would be smart to listen to Payne’s advice, as he famously got his start when “The X Factor” put...

"I am so happy," Adam David tells Gold Derby after winning The Voice Season 27 on May 20 (listen above). "What is playing out right now are things that I've dreamed of since I was a little kid. At least right now, I'm having fun, I'm having a really good time. I'm definitely overwhelmed."
David readily admits that he "didn't know" he was going to be named the winner, particularly after he had to fight for his life in the competition via the Instant Save the prior week. "I wasn't in that purely confident space of, 'I've got this, I'm definitely winning.' I wanted it, but honestly it could have been any one of us."
The 34-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., secured victory for Team Michael Bublé, while the other four finalists were Jadyn Cree (Team Bublé), Renzo (Team John Legend), Jaelen Johnston (Team Kelsea Ballerini), and Lucia Flores-Wiseman (Team Adam...

The Voice 2025 Winner Revealed (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Blues rocker Adam David just owned the mic and the moment. The 34-year-old from Fort Lauderdale snagged the crown on The Voice Season 27, bringing Team Bublé its second consecutive win. Michael Bublé is two-for-two as a coach.
The finale was packed with powerhouse performances, emotional duets, and all the fire you’d expect from a live showdown. But in the end, it was Adam David who barely squeaked into the finale via an Instant Save, who stunned the crowd by taking it all. When Carson Daly announced his name, David looked completely blindsided. “I was just hugging every single person,” David told Entertainment Weekly after the win. “It could have easily been anybody… it was a real surreal moment.”
