Diane M. Kolanovic
- Producer
- Actress
- Composer
Diane M. Kolanovic, a first generation Croatian-American, is a seasoned film producer, actress and composer. Diane was born in Secaucus, New Jersey, where she spent a few
early years in Rutherford, New Jersey. At age 7, her family moved to Manalapan,
New Jersey, a large suburban community with a small town atmosphere, where
Diane grew up and where her family still resides. A true Jersey girl at
heart and a natural fan of the beloved beaches of the Jersey Shore,
Diane still keeps to her family roots.
Diane is the youngest child and only daughter of Zdenko and Nicolina Kolanovic. Zdenko, a retired longshoreman born in Privlaka (Zadar), Croatia, and Nicolina, a spectacular and well respected seamstress born on Otok (Sansego), Croatia, lived most of their lives in New Jersey but were immigrants to the United States in the early 1960s. Now retirees, they frequent Croatia for a few months out of the year. Diane was blessed enough in her young life to be able to visit her grandparents in Privlaka and stay a couple months each summer.
Growing up Croatian-American was much more fun with her two older brothers, John Anthony Kolanovic (January 13, 1964 - April 16, 2008) and Zdenko Kolanovic, Jr. Spending summers together either on the Jersey Shore or Adriatic Coast, the age difference between the older brothers and little sister never phased the dynamic trio. Always finding time to laugh, the siblings always had a great time together no matter what the situation. The siblings always joked about making a movie of their ethnic lives in America. Now that Diane has made her mark in Hollywood, it may just happen. Diane began her career in February 2010 as location manager for the movie Fatalis (2012), directed by Simon G. Mueller. Within a couple of weeks of pre-production, Diane was named as one of the three main producers of the film. Working closely with cast and crew and no prior experience, Diane found herself in a world with innate abilities and a new love for making movies.
During the production of Fatalis (2012), the cooperation between Diane Kolanovic and Simon G. Mueller turned out to be very successful. In June 2010, only four months after their original meeting, director Simon G. Mueller and producer Diane M. Kolanovic co-founded their American based, international production company The FATALIS Partnership LLC ("TFP productions").
The international team focuses on writing, directing and producing films together and supporting each others' individual projects. Since then, Diane has produced two films (Fatalis (2012) directed by Simon G. Mueller; "Affections" by Robby Barriales), a video ("My Arms" by Twilite Mic Productions for the"Fatalis" Film Soundtrack) and has written and composed music for both soundtracks.
Diane is also president and founder of the non-profit organization The Croatians of New York & Los Angeles ("CNYLA"). The small and modern organization boasts "promoting unity, education, and culture amongst young professional Croatians and their colleagues. Bringing together the future of Croatian-Americans from Coast to Coast." Established in 2007, Diane and her team of board members have worked with many professionals across the U.S. and internationally to bring events locally to Croatian-Americans and their colleagues. Diane's focus on producing events for CNYLA has supported her vast abilities to produce films.
The CNYLA has promoted and supported many films such as Searching for a Storm (2009), directed by Jack Baric and Astralis - Institution (2010) directed by Damir Ludvig and Igor Neljak.
Aside from her busy schedule, Diane still finds the time to write, volunteer, enjoy music and the arts and be a proud bookworm.
