The highly popular prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin” was the most streamed original for Showtime in a decade, per The Wrap, so it’s no surprise that the show has been renewed for Season 2 at Paramount+ with Showtime.

“Dexter” showrunner Clyde Phillips will return for the series’ second season.

“Dexter: Original Sin” is set in 1991 Miami and revolves around Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he goes from student to avenging serial killer. With guidance from his father, Harry (Christian Slater), the killer-in-training adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people without being discovered by law enforcement at the same time as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

The crime drama series Dexter originally aired on Showtime for eight seasons, from 2006 to 2013… and even though I had access to Showtime during those years, I completely missed out on it. The show was revived with a season called Dexter: New Blood in 2021, and now a prequel series called Dexter: Original Sin is set to begin airing on the Paramount+ streaming service as of this Friday, December 13th, with the Showtime premiere to follow on December 15th. With those dates nearly upon us, Showtime has shared a behind-the-scenes featurette, which can be seen in the embed above, as well as a clip from the show, which can be found at the bottom of this article.

Brooks will portray Becca Spencer, Captain Aaron Spencer’s (Patrick Dempsey) ex-wife who shares custody of their son, Nicky. Aaron Spencer is the Captain of the Miami Metro Homicide Department who has a decades-long relationship with Harry Morgan (Christian Slater).

The 10-episode original drama series is set in 1991 Miami and follows Dexter (Patrick Gibson), a student refining his killer skills with the help and support of his adoptive father Harry. In his dad, he finds solace and understanding, especially as his bloodthirsty urges grow and can no longer be ignored.

As his only confidant, Harry teaches Dexter a code that’s designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to die — all while avoiding getting caught by law enforcement.

Showtime’s Dexter returned to San Diego Comic-Con on Friday night with a very special guest in tow, Michael C. Hall.

It’s not a Dexter Con without Dexter, and this evening there were two in attendance: Hall and Patrick Gibson, the latter of who plays the younger version of the former’s character in the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin. Hall serves as narrator of the 90s-set series, which will premiere in December.

Additionally, Hall will star in Dexter: Resurrection, a new series that is set in present day and is a followup to the 2021 Dexter: New Blood. It will launch in summer 2025.

Despite doing well in its first season, Prime Video has sadly reversed its renewal of The Peripheral.

The change of heart likely stemmed from the dual strikes occurring across the industry.

The series starred Chloë Grace Moretz as Flynne Fischer, a woman who discovered a secret connection to an alternate reality as well as a dark future of her own.

What is one of the first of likely many strike-related cancellations, The Peripheral seemed to fare well on the streamer.

Each week, Twitter would be abuzz with theories and praise for the show, especially for the performances from Moretz and one of the lead antagonists, played by T'Nia Miller.

With the WGA on strike for over 100 days and SAG-AFTRA on strike for over a month, we expect there to be many similar cases of reversals when it comes to renewed series that hadn't already begun production.

The fate of American Auto is still up in the air, but NBC has confirmed the fate of half-hour comedies Grand Crew and Young Rock. Grand Crew, starring Echo Kellum, Nicole Byer, Aaron Jennings, Justin Cunningham, Carl Tart, and Grasie Mercedes, is closing shop after just two seasons. Young Rock spanned decades of Dwayne Johnson’s life, chronicling his beginnings as a headstrong kid to playing football at the University of Miami to the early days of his professional wrestling career. Dwayne Johnson also plays a future version of himself who is running for president of the United States in the 2032 election. The series started off strong, averaging 3 million viewers per episode in its first season, but the third and now final season of the series found those numbers tumbling to an average of 1.4 million viewers per episode.

In a video posted Tuesday on Twitter, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kumail Nanjiani and several other stars called SAG-AFTRA members to vote in favor of authorizing an actors’ strike ahead of the guild’s negotiations with studios next month.

“I’m asking you to join me in voting ‘yes’ on the strike authorization,” Louis-Dreyfus says in the video, which she posted on Twitter under the caption “We’re a union, and a union stands together!”

SAG-AFTRA members: Vote Yes to the Strike Authorization by June 5th!

A group of SAG-AFTRA members, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jean Smart and Bob Balaban, has released a video urging their fellow performers to approve the strike authorization that’s currently out for a vote of the guild’s eligible members.

The vote comes in advance of the guild’s upcoming negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which are set to start on June 7. A strike, if it comes to that, could not start before June 30, when the guild’s current contract expires.

The Directors Guild, meanwhile, is currently in negotiations with the AMPTP. Their contract also expires on June 30, and the Writers Guild has been on strike for 29 days.

“I’m asking you to join me in voting ‘yes’ on the strike authorization,” Louis-Dreyfus says on the video.

American Auto, Grand Crew and Young Rock all remain on the bubble after the network unveiled its fall schedule with these three shows absent from fall and midseason.

NBC said “decisions are yet to be made” on the trio.

American Auto comes from Superstore creator Justin Spitzer. The series premiered its second season in January and it ended its 13-episode run in April.

Starring Ana Gasteyer, Harriet Dyer and Jon Barinholtz, American Auto hails from Spitzer and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment. Written by Spitzer, American Auto is set at the headquarters of a major American automotive company in Detroit, where a floundering group of executives try to rediscover the company identity amidst a rapidly changing industry.

TV can give viewers false expectations of adult friendship. How many people who watched “Friends” or “Living Single” or “New Girl” got into shenanigans nearly as often as the characters? But Phil Augusta Jackson, creator of NBC’s “Grand Crew,” he swears it’s based on his own friend group and the wine bar where they hung out… with a few liberties taken.

“When you have a hangout show like this, what we’re showing are the moments that they get to spend time together,” Jackson told IndieWire via Zoom. “They’re always at the bar, multiple times an episode, and that doesn’t necessarily feel like real life as far as the actual frequency. A League of Their Own is officially wrapping up.

Weeks after reports emerged indicating a four-episode wrap-up was on the horizon, Prime Video has made it official.

The second season is being billed as a "four-episode limited series."

"Making this show and seeing the impact it has had in the world has been an incredible joy," co-creators Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson said in a statement. "

"While obviously we were hoping for 11 seasons, we're grateful to be able to continue to tell the story of these characters and this world."

A League of Their Own is returning to Prime Video for what may be its final season. The series has reportedly been renewed for an abbreviated second and final season of four episodes, per THR. However, one of the show's creators, Will Graham, revealed that the renewal news is a leak and the series could continue beyond season two if enough people watch the new episodes.

The Rockford Peaches are set to return to Amazon Prime Video one last time.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, A League of Their Own is returning to the streaming service for a second and final season.

And it will be short.

The outlet alleges that A League of Their Own Season 2 will comprise just four episodes.

Amazon has not confirmed the renewal, but THR notes that deals are still being worked out.

As a result, we should expect a formal pickup when the deals are completed.

The road to renewal was reportedly complicated by renegotiations with Sony to lower the drama's licensing fee.

The cast also had to sign new deals because the season will be comprised of half the episodes of A League of Their Own Season 1.

While Amazon has not announced the pickup, it is set to be billed as a "limited series."

NBC’s Grand Crew will reassemble for Season 2 on Friday, March 3 at 8:30/7:30c, the network announced on Thursday.

In the new episodes of the hangout comedy, “Noah, Nicky, Sherm, Anthony, Wyatt and Fay continue navigating the ups and downs of life and love while finding humor in it all, always leaning on each other along the way,” per the official synopsis. “They unpack it all at their favorite wine bar because everything is way more fun when you’re with your crew.”

NBC has delayed the premiere of criminal drama “Found” from a midseason launch on Feb. 19 to a fall 2023 premiere.

“Found,” which stars Shanola Hampton as public relations specialist Gabi Mosely, shines a light on the 600,000 people reported missing in the U.S. — more than half of which are people of color. As Gabi was once a forgotten missing person, her crisis management team works to ensure that no person becomes a faceless case. In light of its Aug. 12 premiere, producers behind Amazon’s “A League of Their Own” spinoff series admit they’ve already started making plans for a Season 2 – which could be starting sooner than you’d think.

“We’ve already started writing and bringing the story for Season 2. Our hope is to shoot in like, mid-spring.
