It's Always Sunny in Philadelphiaand High Potential star Kaitlin Olson talks her high hopes for the crime drama's second season.
Speaking to Deadline, Olson responded to the question of what topics she would like to cover in High Potential Season 2 by pointing towards the moment in Season 1 when her character breaks down why a supposed gift is anything but, which she noted resonated with more viewers than she expected. "I felt like it really touched a lot of people, and I was like, oh, yeah, there are people who are identifying with that and would like to see more of how difficult it can be."
"I definitely want to do more of that, and I also want her to make mistakes, like I said before," Olson continued. "It’s not fun to watch somebody just hit it out of the park every single time, it’s going to get boring.

If there’s one thing Kaitlin Olson has perfected since making her television debut as Cheryl’s snarky sister, Becky, on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” 25 years ago, it’s playing wacky, edgy, self-absorbed characters with questionable moral codes. She’s done it for the better part of two decades on FX’s “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” TV’s longest-running live-action sitcom (and still going), where she portrays narcissistic pub waitress Deandra “Sweet Dee” Reynolds. She did it for two seasons on Fox’s “The Mick” as a foul-mouthed smoker unfit to raise her wealthy sister’s kids. More recently, her performance on Max’s “Hacks” as Jean Smart’s entitled daughter, DJ, earned Olson two Emmy nominations. So it was more than a surprise when “High Potential,” ABC’s freshman crime procedural adapted from the French/Belgian series “Hpi,” piqued Olson’s interest.

ABC has big plans for the second season of High Potential. For starters, the crime drama will produce 18 episodes (up from 13 in Season 1), allowing the show to widen its scope and give the ensemble cast more chances to shine.
“With 18 episodes, we’ll get a little more breathing room to just enjoy our time,” cast member Javicia Leslie (Daphne) recently told TVLine on the carpet at the Disney Upfront, adding that she’s especially excited for the show’s two-episode premiere. Though a return date has not been set, High Potential will air Tuesdays at 10/9c this fall.

ABC's recent police procedural High Potential captivated audiences immediately. Starring It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia alum Kaitlin Olson in the lead, the show puts a new spin on a tried and true genre. Olson stars as quirky single mom Morgan Gillory, who happens to be a high-potential intellectual (aka a genius with a 160 Iq). Her incredible intelligence is juxtaposed by her flamboyant personality and unique sense of fashion.
When she inadvertently helps solve a murder with her ability to spot patterns in the most innocuous evidence, she is hired as a consultant for the LAPD's major crimes unit. She's partnered with no-nonsense Detective Adam Karadec, played by Daniel Sunjata — just one of the show's familiar faces, having starred in Graceland, Manifest, and Grey's Anatomy. He's none too pleased to work with a civilian, especially one so opposite to himself. However, it doesn't take long for Morgan to win Karadec...

Like with any other job in the world, it's not unusual for television stars to move on and see if the grass is greener somewhere else. However, there are controversial actor exits that single handedly ruined popular TV shows and had everyone -- fans and network executives included -- freaking out about how they could recover from such massive blows. Spoiler alert: They don't. While the series often lurch along like the characters in a George A. Romero film (sometimes even for multiple seasons), the spark fizzles out, leaving weak remnants of what once was magical.
For instance, can anyone say that "Two and a Half Men" was better off without Charlie Sheen'? Sure, the sitcom tried to replace him with a big-name star in the form of Ashton Kutcher, but finding the laughter on this show from the ninth season onward required the help of a private investigator.

ABC has not confirmed the cast list at this time, but we’d all but guarantee that Kaitlin Olson and Daniel Sunjata will for sure be back. Amirah J also confirmed she will return as Ava, which means we’d imagine Matthew Lamb will also be back as Elliot.
Amirah shared with ABC about season 2, “I’m really excited just to kind of see more about her upbringing and kind of what her life was like when it was just her and Morgan for those few years before her siblings came, and just really see how that has kind of shaped her into who she is now.

High Potential fans better buckle up for one wild ride of a season finale. The promo for “Let’s Play” is creepy on another level with a slight Saw-feel from how the clip sets up the episode.
If you haven’t seen the promo yet, I am not exaggerating how chilling it is. And from the looks of things, the killer is gunning for the LAPD in a big way.
There was never a doubt that High Potential wouldn’t pull out all the stops for an epic ending to the show’s freshman season. It looks like Morgan will have to use all the brain power she has rolling around in that noggin of hers.
(Carlos Lopez-Calleja/Disney)
I mean, with a tagline like “Let the mind games begin,” it’s hard not to be creeped out after so many happy endings to every episode of High Potential.

ABC’s new crime drama High Potential has set viewership records for the network and boasts a nearly-perfect 96% Rotten Tomatoes critic score. However, its star, Kaitlin Olson, is now revealing she nearly said “no” to the part. The actress known for her longtime role on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, per Screen Rant, talked about almost not taking the part on Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend.
Olson was not quite sure about taking a role on a network TV drama series. “I have to say (series creator) Drew Goddard wrote that script and I was not interested when they came to me and wanted to have lunch,” Olson confessed. “I was like, ‘ABC? Hour-long drama? No thank you!’ My agent was like, ‘no, you’re going to have lunch with them.’ And I was like ‘what did you just say to me?’ He was like, ‘it’s good, you’re gonna read it,...
