The ‘Regretting You’ Trailer: Colleen Hoover Revived ‘The Fault in Our Stars Era’ In an Unexpected Way
Image
Colleen Hoover’s Regretting You is finally coming to the big screen, and if the trailer isn’t any indication already, the movie seems to be reviving the vibe that once made The Fault in Our Stars a global phenomenon. Hoover seems to be bringing back the young romance genre, one adaptation at a time. With stories full of hope, the rush of experiencing love and tragedy, the author has re-ignited people’s interest in nuanced stories, which is a feat in itself, considering how the industry is saturated with franchise returns and superhero films.

So, let’s take a closer look at how things unfold in the trailer, followed by a glimpse of the fresh ensemble and known creatives of Regretting You.

Colleen Hoover’s Regretting You Adaptation Gets Release Date After Blake Lively Drama
Image
A release date for the next major Colleen Hoover adaptation, Regretting You, has finally been unveiled, which is set for an October 24 theatrical debut in the United States (according to EW). Given the heights of It Ends With Us‘ box-office triumphs, which were unfortunately overshadowed by the legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, Paramount greenlit the adaptation with director Josh Boone at the helm.

With Allison Williams and Dave Franco at the forefront, the movie will be a slight departure from Hoover’s traditional works, as, in addition to the romance and drama, the movie is said to have a stronger emphasis on its humor.

Colleen Hoover’s Regretting You Adaptation Eyes Fall Debut

With an October release date on the table, Regretting You will have a more universal appeal as compared to a typical Hoover-verse entry, per producer Brunson Green, who added (per EW), “We’ve sprinkled...

M3GAN 2.0: The Iconic Doll Returns with an Unexpected Pivot to Comedy and Action
Image
The sequel to the killer doll phenomenon, M3GAN 2.0, arrives with a bold proposal that redefines expectations. From its opening minutes, the film makes its new purpose clear: M3GAN has not returned to instill fear, but to entertain. This follow-up consciously moves away from the suburban terror that characterized its predecessor to embrace what its director, Gerard Johnstone, has described as an “action-comedy with horror DNA.” This shift, which could be divisive for the more purist fans of the first film, reveals itself as a deliberate and, for the most part, successful creative decision. It’s a good movie, perhaps even better than the first, that knows how to pivot from its premise to offer a very different but highly appreciable experience. The doll that became a pop culture icon is no longer just a monster in the closet, but the star of a larger, more self-aware spectacle, orchestrated by...

M3GAN 3 Movie Story Hopes Addressed by Franchise Star: A Robot Rom-Com (Exclusive)
Image
The first M3GAN, which introduced audiences to their favorite modern-day killer robot, is a full horror movie. This second film made some big changes, going from scary to full sci-fi action. If M3GAN 3 were to happen, the star behind the robotic doll would want to see it become a robot rom-com.

M3GAN 2.0 surprised many with its genre switch, as it introduced Ivanna Sakhno's villainous Amelia, intent on destroying the world. Thankfully, Megan was talked into becoming a hero by Gemma (Allison Williams) and Cady (Violet McGraw), and she sacrificed herself to save the day.

The Direct's Russ Milheim spoke with M3GAN 2.0 star Jenna Davis, who provides the voice of the titular robot. She offered her thoughts on the perfect genre change for a third movie in the franchise.

‘M3GAN 2.0’ Fails to Slay at the Global Box Office Following Digital Debut
Image
Blumhouse boss Jason Blum recently went on Matt Belloni’s The Town podcast to discuss the slump that the company is currently in, following the box office failure of a string of titles across 2024 and 2025. In fact, Blumhouse hasn’t had a bona fide hit since late 2023’s Five Nights at Freddy’s, which, ironically, it didn’t see coming. Blum admitted that the company might have overestimated the cultural relevance of the first M3GAN film, which rode a wave of organic social media publicity and grossed over $180 million worldwide a couple of years ago, because M3GAN 2.0 has barely scraped past the $35 million mark. It’s already available on PVOD platforms, following a disappointing run that puts a large question mark on the property’s future.

With under $25 million domestically and just around $15 million from overseas markets, M3GAN 2.0 has grossed $37 million at the worldwide box office so far. The...

'M3GAN 2.0's Allison Williams Prepares For Movie's Thrilling Action Sequence in New BTS Sneak Peek [Exclusive]
Image
Last week, director Gerard Johnstone (Housebound) revealed that M3GAN 2.0 was getting an unrated digital release. Collider can now exclusively unveil a behind-the-scenes featurette that breaks down one of the movie's most thrilling moments. Introduced by lead star Allison Williams (The Perfection), it shows a bit of her rehearsal to jump into an action scene that only happens because M3GAN (Amie Donald/Jenna Davis) is able to hack into her brain. The unrated version is already available to rent or own.

In the featurette, Williams talks about the scene in which her character Gemma is thrust into a fight and becomes a one-person army. In the scene, her body is operating under M3GAN's control, so the challenge is to keep her face expressionless or shocked while simultaneously kicking everybody's butts and taking names. Williams states:

"My face is like I'm on a ride, shocked at all the things...

Amie Donald and Violet McGraw in M3GAN (2022)
M3GAN 2.0 is coming to DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Uhd in September
Amie Donald and Violet McGraw in M3GAN (2022)
When the sci-fi horror film M3GAN reached theatres in January of 2023, it was such a financial success, everyone at Universal Pictures, Blumhouse Productions, and Atomic Monster seemed to believe they had just created an incredibly popular new genre icon. But the sci-fi action comedy sequel M3GAN 2.0 has turned out to be a box office disappointment. Made on a budget somewhere between 15 and 25 million, it had a domestic opening weekend of $10 million (1/3 of the first movie’s $30 million opening weekend) and, two weeks later, has only managed to cross the $36 million mark in worldwide totals. Things aren’t going the way anybody behind the film hoped they would during the theatrical run, but maybe M3GAN 2.0 will draw in more viewers on home video. The movie has received a digital release today and is available to watch on Amazon – but if you’re more into physical media, you’ll have...

How To Watch M3GAN 2.0 At Home
Image
You never know what's going to make waves on the internet, but "M3GAN" sure did. The trailer for Gerard Johnstone's killer AI flick blew up on account of the titular robot serving, slashing, and, most importantly, doing a weird little dance for everyone to meme into oblivion. Not only did "M3GAN" end up being a pretty fun horror comedy with a mean edge, it also gave Blumhouse a new figure they could potentially build a franchise around. "M3GAN 2.0" takes a page out of the "Terminator 2" handbook by flipping the script and making M3GAN an ally (of which she would be so proud) on the side of good.

M3GAN (Amie Donald and Jenna Davis) may have been defeated by Gemma (Allison Williams) and Cady (Violet McGraw) after her protective programming went a little haywire, but the threat has only evolved. Made from the same plans as M3GAN, a...

M3GAN 2.0 Digital Release Date Revealed After 19 Days in Theaters: Real Reason Why the Sequel Failed
Image
M3GAN 2.0 is officially headed for a digital release, and it’s just been 19 days since its theatrical release. This move suggests just how poorly this sequel performed at the box office, compared to the original. In the much-hyped follow-up to the 2023 hit M3GAN, we saw many returning faces like Allison Williams, Jenna Davis, and even new cast members.

But the Gerard Johnstone directorial shifted its tone from horror-comedy to action-sci-fi, and the audiences didn’t really seem to follow. So, let’s look at the scale of its failure and then understand why exactly it tanked at the box office!

M3GAN 2.0 Set To Release on Streaming After Flopping Hard A still from M3GAN 2.0 | Credits: Blumhouse Productions

The decision to rush M3GAN 2.0 to digital platforms shows that what most people feared was indeed true, i.e., the sequel didn’t land. It’s set to have a...

This 58% Rotten Tomatoes Horror Sequel That Bombed at the Box Office Sets Digital & Physical Media Release Date
Image
There have been a ton of incredible horror films for genre fans to chew on this year. From original gems like Companion to blood-soaked franchise returns like Final Destination Bloodlines, there's much to scream about. However, not every sequel has been a success. The biggest example recently was M3GAN 2.0. The Blumhouse sci-fi action comedy that was light on horror has barely done what its critically-acclaimed original film did in its opening weekend back in 2023. Now the AI panic film is near the end of its theatrical run. With that has come its digital and physical media release dates.

Universal Pictures and Blumhouse have announced that M3GAN 2.0 will be coming to paid VOD digital platforms on Tuesday, July 15th (Tomorrow) for $24.99 Usd. That's just 18 days after its debut in theaters. The sequel will then come to 4K, Blu-ray and DVD on September 23rd. This will include the previously announced...

'Too Much' Creator, 39, Teases a Possible Spin-Off Series For This Popular HBO Show
Image
Lena Dunhamis back with a brand new show! The Too Much creator worked with her husband, Luis Felber, to tell a fictionalized version of their love story in the new Netflix series. But Dunham has also been answering questions about her first beloved series: Girls. The HBO comedy featured Dunham as Hannah, a young woman living in New York City trying to figure out her life. Which did include dating Adam (Adam Driver) and some "good soup." One of the most beloved characters on the series, though, is Shoshanna, played by Zosia Mamet.

When talking with the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Dunham spoke about a character from Girls she loved the most and who she'd want to revisit in a spin-off series. “I love Shoshanna,” she said. “I am on record as saying she is my favorite girl… I think Shoshanna is going places.” Dunham praised Mamet for her work on the series,...

Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson's Verity From It Ends With Us Author Sets Release Date
Image
It Ends With Us might've been filled with controversy, but the adaptation was extremely successful at the box office. After its success, several more studios rushed to buy the rights to Colleen Hoover's other books.

One of the many adaptations in the works is Verity. The feature comes from Amazon MGM Studios and features a star-studded cast led by Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett. The film has wrapped up filming, and Deadlinereports Verity will head to theaters on Oct. 2, 2026.

The first weekend of October has been very successful for other adaptations, including 2014's Gone Girl and 2016's The Girl on the Train. For now, the other big title that's set to premiere on Oct. 2, 2026, is Warner Bros’ untitled Tom Cruise movie by Alejandro G. Iňárritu. Verity was originally supposed to premiere in theaters on May 15, 2026, but it has been postponed. Amazon MGM Studios showed a trailer to Verity in April at CinemaCon,...

Colleen Hoover’s Darkest Adaptation Yet Sets Release Date With Anne Hathaway in the Lead
Image
You're going to have to wait a little longer for Colleen Hoover's chilling tale of secrets and romance to hit the big screen. Verityhas been pushed back from its May 15, 2026, release date until later next year. The thriller is a production of Amazon MGM Studios, and will star Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson; the studio unveiled the first trailer for the film at CinemaCon earlier this year. It is now set to be released on October 2, 2026.

Deadline, who first reported the delay, does not give a reason for the film's postponement, but does note that several successful literary thriller adaptations have been released in early October in years past, including The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl. While the 2026 release calendar is still in flux, October 2 release date will pit it against Alejandro G. Iñárritu's as-yet untitled comedy, which will star Tom Cruise. Verity is the latest...

Lena Dunham's Netflix Rom-Com 'Too Much' Lands Impressive Rotten Tomatoes Debut
Image
Lena Dunham, the creator of the critically lauded Girls, is back with her latest series, Netflix's Too Much. Dunham's anticipated outing follows New Yorker Jessica (Megan Stalter) as she navigates life in London after a breakup. The rom-com landed on the streamer on July 10 and has earned high marks from critics: it currently boasts an impressive 85% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, signaling that it's "just enough" for most.

Dunham is best known for HBO's Girls. She created, wrote, and starred in the show, which ran from 2012 to 2017 and garnered her significant critical acclaim, including Golden Globe and Emmy nominations. The show centered on four young women, as they navigated life in the Big Apple post-college. The popular series followed their struggles with relationships and careers, and became known for its raw and humorous portrayal of female complexities. Despite Girls' success, some critiqued the series for its lack of diversity and unlikable and privileged characters.

Image
Editor’s Note: This story contains spoilers for “Too Much,” now streaming on Netflix.

This is Dunham laying bare for audiences once more — and only her true fans, raised being way too online, would get all the references to her lore.

Lena Dunham Details Possible ‘Girls’ Revival Plot: ‘I Would Always’ Work with That Cast Again
Image
Could Lena Dunham bring “Girls” into the 2020s? The series creator and recent “Too Much” showrunner told Variety that she is still open to the possibility of revisiting the beloved HBO show. “Girls” concluded in 2017 after six seasons, and starred Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, and Zosia Mamet as a millennial friend group in Brooklyn.

While Dunham has teased a possible “Girls” reboot down the line for years and has been in talks with HBO about bringing the show back, she is now detailing what that revival would entail.

“If we had something to say that was really specific and it was a moment in their lives where we felt like revisiting it — like millennial women becoming mothers or stepping into menopause or going to live at old-age homes — I would always want to work with those people again,” Dunham said.

And Dunham has a few ideas about where the beloved characters would be specifically…...

Lena Dunham Explains Why Her Hit Show Was 'Really Disappointing'
Image
Lena Dunham's Girls was a successful show that ran for six seasons. Dunham herself has admitted some people were "really disappointed" with an aspect of the series.

Girls aired in 2012, and the four main characters - played by Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet and Dunham herself - were all white. Ahead of her show Too Much, Dunham spoke to The Independentabout the comedy that made her a star while expressing concerns about its lack of diversity.

“I think one of the profound issues around Girls,” she told the outlet, “was that there was so little real estate for women in television that if you had a show called Girls, which is such a monolithic name, it sounds like it’s describing all the girls in all the places. And so if it’s not reflecting a multitude of experiences, I understand how that would be really disappointing to people.
