‘Dead Shadows’ Review
Stars: Fabian Wolfrom, Gilles Barret, Laurie Cholewa, Margaux Devy, Sylvain Dubois, John Fallon, Blandine Marmigère, Caterina Perazzi, Norbert Ferrer, Franck Penaud, Christophe Perez, Lisette Pires, Baya Rehaz | Written by Vincent Julé | Directed by David Cholewa

Whilst the likes of Inside, Martyrs, High Tension et al., have pushed the boundaries of the horror genre with their mix of brutality and gore, there still hasn’t been anything – at least from the French – that is as batshit insane as Dead Shadows. The closest I’ve seen to this movie – at least in terms of the crazy over-the-top monster-movie gore and grue – has mostly hailed from the Far East, and been animated. Yes, imagine the craziest Japanese anime you’ve ever seen, and I’m including the madness of hentai movies in that generalisation, make it live-action, and that is essentially have Dead Shadows…

Chris is a young man whose parents were brutally killed 11 years ago,...

Trailer for First-Person Found Footage Horror Thriller Afflicted
CBS Films has released the first trailer for writers/directors Derek Lee and Clif Prowse’s found footage horror thriller Afflicted. The film is a twist on the found footage genre and follows two best friends who set out on the trip of a lifetime around the world. Early on in their journey, however, it suffers a dark and unexpected turn when an encounter with a mysterious woman leaves one of them afflicted. The found footage aspect of the pic comes into play as the two set out to document their journey on video. Some of their cameras are actually attached to their heads, allowing Lee and Prowse to display some of the horror and action from a first person perspective. The pic went over quite well at last year’s Fantastic Fest by winning Best Picture, Director, and Screenplay in the horror category, and it looks to be some pretty riveting stuff.

Superpowers go very wrong in trailer for upcoming horror film 'Afflicted'
Josh Trank
Prepare to be infected by "Afflicted." The found footage festival favorite is heading to theaters soon, and a new trailer promises some clever, low-budget thrills and chills that seems to combine the superhero hijinks of Josh Trank's "Chronicle" with the gross-out disease horror found in David Cronenberg's body of work.  Two pals (Derek Lee and Cliff Prowse -- who also co-wrote and co-directed) embark on a fun-filled Euro trip, only for one of them to be mysteriously infected with some sort of fatal superhuman powers after encountering a beautiful woman in Paris (Baya Rehaz). Watch the trailer here: Read Drew McWeeny's review of the film here. "Afflicted" opens April 4.
