We’ve arrived at the season finale of Duster on Max. As we left off last week, it was clear the house of lies built by Nina (Rachel Hilson) and Jim (Josh Holloway) as they investigate Saxton (Keith David) had come crashing down. But could they find a way to survive? That’s the question we had to answer during this week’s finale, “66 Reno Split.” Let’s dive in and see how it turned out.

We open this week by flashing back to South Philly in 1954. There, Saxton is threatening Virgil Hayes (Kenneth Mosely). Seems Virgil isn’t keeping up his end of the numbers-running racket. Young Nina watches the exchange. It’s not long before her father ends up dead, providing the fuel that’s led to her choice of career and current situation.

We ended last week with Nina (Rachel Hilson) and Jim (Josh Holloway) up against it. How would they find a way forward? That was the challenge before us in this week’s episode. Let’s see how they fare in Duster season 1 episode 5.

As mentioned, Nina and Jim are in a tight spot. Nina’s boss isn’t pleased with her recent actions, which culminated in the death of a former agent. But she shares she’s close to getting an in with Saxton (Keith David), who is on the cusp of a big deal. She’s given 48-hours to make it happen.

Jim, meanwhile, is in hot water with Saxton. He lost the Howard Hughes car, which he gave away to save his life. He can’t admit the truth, so instead looks like he bungled a big job.

The cast of Max's Duster spoke with The Direct on the red carpet at the show's premiere event in Los Angeles, where they talked about the titular rare car, the 1970s, and more. The new Max series follows Josh Holloway's Jim Ellis, a getaway driver for a notorious gang boss who crosses paths with Rachel Hilson's new FBI agent Nina Hayes, who quickly causes the chaos in his life to multiply tenfold.
