Luckily, Jennifer Love Hewitt's exit from the long-running and beloved crime drama, "Criminal Minds," after one season was as sweet and amicable as possible. Per TVLine, Valentino is officially out at The Rookie, leaving his role as a series regular effective immediately. The actor debuted in a recurring capacity in Season 4 before he was promoted to series regular starting with Season 5. He remained in that role through Season 6, which concluded in May. Some fans might have seen the writing on the wall with the actor's exit as he was not in attendance during the show's presence at San Diego Comic-Con. The Rookie does not shy away from putting beloved characters in danger.

Early on in The Rookie Season 4 Episode 1, we learned that Officer West (Titus Makin) had been killed.

While Makin did not return for The Rookie Season 4, the show still had the lofty task of bringing his character's arc to a close.

The episode in question showed Sergeant Grey (Richard T Jones) reviewing security footage.

It showed Lopez (Alyssa Diaz) and West being hurled into getaway cars after being kidnapped.

We got to see West resisting, and chillingly, he was shot, revealing his untimely death.

If you watch The Rookie online, you know the bulk of the premiere focused on the team finding Angela and her unborn child.

"It's heartbreaking," Alexi Hawley explained to TV Line about the shocking exit.

Following a rollout of promos, episodic photos and a poster that had fans fretting about the fate of a conspicuously Mia character, The Rookie showrunner Alexi Hawley told TVLine that the Season 4 premiere would “almost immediately” confirm the fate of Officer Jackson West, who was played by original cast member Titus Makin.

Disney Television Studios mounted a panel Thursday at the TCA press tour entitled “Inclusion is Not A Spectator Sport” — a panel on which five of the participants were white and two were Black. According to Tim McNeal, vice president, creative talent development and inclusion and Dma (Donna Michelle Anderson), director, creative talent development and inclusion at Walt Disney Television, that structure was intentional.
