Amy Maghera is a British actress, born in Milton Keynes, England. She is now based in between London and LA. Her Mother is of Indian (Punjabi) descent and her Father is Scottish and English. Her entrance into film, was a lead role in feature, Angry Indian Goddesses, which premiered at Toronto International Film Festival, winning the First Runner Up Prize at 'The People's Choice Awards'. It also won 'The BNL People's Choice Award' at Rome International Film Festival and 'The Audience Award' at the Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival. She can be seen playing a lead role in the Netflix Feature Film, Skater Girl, released Worldwide in June 2021. Her latest film, Pretty Problems, is due to World Premier at this year's SXSW Festival.
Her work in British television includes starring as series regular, Neeta Kaur, in the long running, prime time TV show, Hollyoaks and guest starring on shows such as, Casualty, on BBC 1.
While acting is her passion, she actually began her career as a professional dancer, dancing for the likes of Kanye West, after graduating from Winchester University. It was while working as a dancer on set, in a Bollywood film in Mumbai, that she was approached by one of India's biggest talent agencies, Matrix. This led to her moving to Mumbai and quickly gaining immense popularity as a model/actress in the Indian commercial, fashion and film industry. She gained a five year contract as the Brand Ambassador of India's largest high-end cosmetics and skin care company, Lakme, and began starring in films including, Goreyan Nu Dafa Karo, on Amazon Prime and Mad About Dance, (presented by globally renowned Bollywood actor, Sha Rukh Khan). She has appeared in FHM, GQ and Vogue India and was tagged as one of the most promising faces by Harpers Bazaar India.
