The Captive’s War series by S.A. Corey is on its way to Prime Video! Eventually, that is, since these things take time, especially in the science fiction genre.
For those familiar with The Expanse, a new Prime series from the same authors (James S.A. Corey is a pen name for writers Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck) and showrunners is welcome news.
Even better, The Captive’s War series is an entirely new universe, separate and distinct from The Expanse. With all the sequels, prequels, spin-offs, and wannabes out there, something unique is an exciting prospect.
(Syfy)
Unfortunately, this doesn’t bode well for a potential continuation of The Expanse, a series that ended with three books’ worth of storytelling remaining.
On the bright side, this upcoming release is a good sign for the continued growth of the Science Fiction genre, especially in a more creative and intelligent direction.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson used a special bodysuit to "bulk up" for his role in 'Moana'.The 52-year-old wrestler-turned-actor plays demigod Maui in the new live-action version of 2016 Disney film 'Moana' and he was recently pictured on the set looking particularly ripped - but Dwayne has admitted his muscled physique is down to a special costume.During an interview with 'Extra', he was asked if he "bulked up" for the 'Moana' part, and he replied: "That’s a suit that took a long time to put on. So, I’m so happy you said: ‘You bulked up,’ because when you say: ‘You bulked up,’ that means you couldn’t tell [I was wearing the suit]."Dwayne went on to reveal that as well as adding to his muscles, the suit also saved time because it meant he didn't have to spend hours in the make-up chair having the character's many tattoos painted on.

Moana Set Photos Feature Catherine Laga'aia Filming Key Scene As Dwayne Johnson Confirms Muscle Suit
Moana 2 is eyeing a massive Thanksgiving weekend at the North American box office, and Disney's live-action adaptation of the first instalment - which has been dated for a 2026 release - is currently shooting in Hawaii.
Thanks to Just Jared, we now have a new look at newcomer Catherine Laga'aia in costume as Moana. Thus appears to be a recreation of an early scene in the original movie as Laga'aia was spotted talking to the ocean before seemingly being pushed back by the waves.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson wasn't spotted as Maui, though we did recently get to see him transformed into the character he also voices in animation.
In a red carpet interview with Extra, the actor confirmed speculation that he donned a muscle suit to bring the demigod to life in live-action is correct.

Dwayne Johnson is currently filming the live-action Moana movie, and while the actor is a big dude, he’s not quite Maui big. When set photos from the Moana remake emerged last week, fans were quick to notice that Johnson appeared to be wearing a tattooed bodysuit, which he has now confirmed.
“That’s a suit that took a long time to put on. So, I’m so happy you said, ‘You bulked up,’ because when you say, ‘You bulked up,’ that means you couldn’t tell,” Johnson told Extra. “That is a couple of hours every day of transforming, putting that on. We shot outside and when those pictures surfaced, I was like, ‘Sh*t, we got caught, ’cause we were putting up, like, walls so there was no paparazzi. But they got into boats and started shooting pictures. So, but I’m happy you liked it. I can’t wait.

Do you smell what The Rock is cooking while on the set of Disney’s live-action remake of Moana? It smells like sweat-stained rubber mats, Creatine, and tequila. For real, though, I’ve had Dwayne Johnson’s tequila, and it’s delicious. Allow me to get to the point. Photos from the set of Disney’s live-action remake of Moana are making the rounds thanks to The Daily Mail, and people are questioning whether Johnson’s physique for the upcoming film is genuine. This query sounds ridiculous. Or does it?
While Dwayne Johnson is undoubtedly a behemoth who tirelessly works to keep himself tip-top, there’s something strange about his proportions in the newly leaked set photos. I’m not saying The Rock is wearing a body suit for sure, but his costume strategically hides telltale areas of the body that would otherwise reveal body suit seams. He could easily...

As we first reported on Toonado.com, a second wave of set photos for the upcoming live-action Moana remake has just surfaced (via Mail Online) and these feature a much closer look at Catherine Laga'aia's title character and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Maui.
After seeing the blurry shots from yesterday, many fans quickly pointed out that it looked like the pro wrestler had somehow bulked up to portray a real-life version of the character he first voiced for 2016's Disney Animation hit.
Well, it turns out the actor has donned a muscle suit. This is a little ironic, particularly as many felt Johnson was taking a shot at Zachary Levi for wearing one in Shazam! while promoting Black Adam (he captioned a social media post by saying, "this is not your typical DC or Marvel padded muscle suit").

Despite receiving largely mixed reviews for many of its live-action remakes, Disney continues to forge ahead with more adaptations of its most beloved classics. Next up is 2026's Moana, a reimagining of the 2016 movie that follows this Thanksgiving's animated Moana 2.
While Auli'i Cravalho will continue voicing the Disney Animation Moana, she'll pass the reins to newcomer Catherine Laga'aia for this live-action redo, with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson reprising his role as Maui.
Cravalho's recasting makes sense due to her age, though it's hard to imagine anyone else playing the character given the way the pro wrestler made the demigod his own.
As we first reported on Toonado.com, a first look at Johnson on set alongside Laga'aia has surfaced on social media today. Rocking the tattoos, long hair, and grass skirt, the actor looks like he's stepped straight out of the 2016 animated movie...even if it is a little...

Dwayne Johnson will be returning for a new version of Moana, that’s going to start filming shortly: more on Disney’s remake here.
Disney has clearly decided to stick its foot on the accelerator when it comes to making a few more quid out of the glorious animated film Moana. Appreciating there’s a lot of Encanto fans out there, for my money Moana is the last flat-out brilliant film from Walt Disney Animation Studios we’ve seen. I’ve enjoyed much of its output since, but this feels a high bar.
This winter, a film that was looking like it was going to streaming at one point – Moana 2 – arrives in cinemas. It’s suspiciously light on the lead creatives from the first film, but early signs are on the positive side. Then of course there’s the decision to remake the first film in some form of live action,...

The “Lost Flowers of Alice Hart” finale doesn’t pull its punches in clarifying the terrible trauma that June (Sigourney Weaver) and her granddaughter Alice (Alycia Debnam-Carey) have gone through, and showrunner Sarah Lambert felt it was important to drill down the effects of repressed trauma in the show’s finale.
In an earlier episode of the Prime Video series, based on the book by Holly Ringland, June finally revealed that her “Robber Baron” who she always told stories about as the love of her life, was a woman. Her son, Clem (Charlie Vickers), resulted from June getting raped by a stranger, and Clem developed violent tendencies as well. The first few episodes of the Prime Video show hinted at Clem’s abusive nature towards his wife and daughter Alice (Alyla Browne), but not until the finale do viewers learn that he was also violent towards his mother.

Fire brings “The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart” full circle, but had it not been for director Glendyn Ivin, the Prime Video series’ final scene may not have been there.
The Prime Video series, adapted from the best-selling book by Holly Ringland, follows younger and older versions of Alice Hart, whose parents Agnes (Tilda Cobham-Hervey) and Clem (Charlie Vickers) died in a fire, as she reconnects with the place her parents met — Thornfield Flower Farm — run by her paternal grandmother June (Sigourney Weaver).
After June dies of cancer, Alice (Alycia Debnam-Carey), June’s lover Twig (Leah Purcell) and Candy (Frankie Adams) set fire to one of Clem’s wood carvings of June that he made in the greenhouse where he violated Candy. Director Glendyn Ivin fought for that final fire scene, which wasn’t in the original script.

Alycia Debnam-Carey is delivering her best work in Prime Video's The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart.
The 100 and Fear the Walking Dead alum plays the titular character in the adaptation of Holly Ringland's novel.
As you'll recall if you've been watching the show on Fridays as it unspools on the streaming service, Alice is living with her grandmother after becoming an orphan.
Throughout the first four episodes, the series touched upon Alice's violent upbringing, and Friday's new episode, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, sends things in an emotional direction.
Twig (Leah Purcell) is trying to find Alice in the episode while Alice is off trying to piece together her past.
Alice is hiding a significant burden in the form of setting the fire that got her into her current predicament, but she was driven by the abuse at the hands of her father.
Her fateful decision changed her life forever,...

The film, directed by Martin Scorsese, is based on the 2017 true crime book “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI” by David Grann. It tells the story of murders that took place in the 1920s in Osage Country, Oklahoma. After oil was found on the land of wealthy Osage people, they were brutally killed, presumably for access to their land and oil. The Toronto International Film Festival is looking to score as the annual celebration prepares to host the world premiere of Taika Waititi’s soccer comedy Next Goal Wins. Waititi and TIFF are old friends, with the quirky director making a splash at the event in 2019 with his controversial buddy comedy Jojo Rabbit. The “anti-hate satire” earned the show’s coveted People’s Choice Award, producing solid box office earnings when the film went wide.
Scripted by Waititi and Iain Morris, Next Goal Wins is based on the 2014 documentary by Mike Brett and Steve Jamison. At one time, Searchlight Pictures was planning to release director Taika Waititi‘s new movie Next Goal Wins on April 21st. We already would have had the chance to see it last weekend. The release date ended up shifting back to September 22nd – and five days after the original release date, a trailer for the film has now arrived online! You can check it out in the embed above.
Scripted by Waititi and Iain Morris, Next Goal Wins is based on the 2014 documentary from Mike Brett and Steve Jamison. The movie is about “the worst soccer team in the world, who famously experienced the biggest loss in an international match against Australia, 31-0, which is about a goal every four minutes,” Taika Waitit told Entertainment Weekly. “After suffering that huge defeat, they applied to the soccer federation to find a coach who could get them from the very, very bottom of the FIFA rankings.

Searchlight Pictures has released the trailer for Taika Waititi’s upcoming sports comedy-drama film, “Next Goal Wins.”
Based on directors Mike Brett and Steve Jamison’s 2014 documentary of the same name, “Next Goal Wins” follows the true story of unorthodox coach Thomas Rongen (Michael Fassbender) as he attempts to turn the American Samoa national soccer team into champions. The film takes place after the soccer team’s infamous 31-0 FIFA loss in 2001.
Along with Fassbender, the film stars Elisabeth Moss, Will Arnett, Uli Latukefu, Rhys Darby, Oscar Kightley, David Fane, Lehi Falepapalangi, Semu Filipo, Rachel House, Angus Sampson, Frankie Adams, Beulah Koale, Sisa Grey, Russell Satele, Karim Benz, and Chris Aloso. Variety exclusively reported in Nov. 2019 that Kaimana, a fa’afafine non-binary actor, will portray Jaiyah Saelua, the first non-binary player to compete in a men’s FIFA World Cup qualifier.
“It was vital,” Waititi told Variety about casting a non-binary actor for the role.

Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck's hit science fiction novel series, "The Expanse," written under the joint pseudonym James S.A. Corey, has been adapted into an acclaimed television series of the same name. The story begins in a future where humanity has colonized the solar system. Factions on Earth, Mars, and space stations battle for supremacy. The series ran for six seasons, with its first three seasons airing on Syfy while Amazon Studios produced its later half -- sending it to stream on Prime Video.
With its interplanetary scope and impressive ensemble cast, "The Expanse" is one of the best sci-fi shows in recent memory and one of Prime Video's most underrated original series. The show is willing to take risks with its story, from the main characters dying to shocking twists every step of the way as the war for humanity's future unfolds. Here is a definitive ranking of...

"The Expanse" had their series finale last week, and packed a whole lot into the last episode, including an amazing action sequence with Bobbie Draper (Frankie Adams), Amos Burton (Wes Chatham), and some rail guns.
/Film had the chance to talk with Adams about that intense sequence as well as about other aspects of the season (including what Bobbie did after her heart-to-heart with Amos on Ceres) and the show as a whole.
Read on for that conversation, though be warned that spoilers for the last season of "The Expanse" lie ahead!

"Azure Dragon," the second episode in the last season of "The Expanse," is about opportunities and repercussions (or the lack thereof). Things were pretty grim for pretty much everyone who wasn't Marco Inaros (Keon Alexander) in the season premiere, and things are still pretty rough at the beginning of "Azure Dragon" for Earth and, more specifically, the Rocinante crew.
Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo), however, promised something significant last episode, and "Azure Dragon" delivers on her promise — it sees Bobbie (Frankie Adams) leaving diplomacy behind and unleashing her badass McRn skills on a mission on the Rocinante, and it...
