Opening with a quote from H.G. Wells’ novel, War of the Worlds: The Attack is the latest in a seemingly endless stream of film, television shows, rock operas, and most infamously, a radio play by Orson Wells based on the classic tale of the original “Red Menace”.

Three friends Herbert, Hannah and Ogilvy are bicycling through the woods looking for a meteorite Hannah is sure landed nearby. They don’t find it although Herbert thinks he saw something hiding in the trees. He also has a theory that it’s not merely a meteorite.

The next morning they see what landed, something huge and already cordoned off by the police. As they sneak past for a closer look, it opens revealing an octopus-like occupant. But that’s nothing...

‘War of the Worlds: The Attack’ Trailer – New Movie Brings the Giant Aliens Back to the Screen

Another adaptation of the classic H.G. Wells tale is headed our way, with Vertical Entertainment unleashing the trailer for War of the Worlds: The Attack, releasing next month.

The film will bring the battle to select theaters on April 21, 2023.

“War of the Worlds: The Attack follows three young astronomers tracking a meteorite that crashes into earth who discover they are at the epicentre of a Martian invasion. A soldier helps the trio and they end up in London where they must find a way to save mankind.”

Alhaji Fofana, Lara Lemon, Sam Gittins, and Leo Staar star.

Director Junaid Syed previews, “The idea was to create a modernized version of War of the Worlds while honoring and trying to stay as close to the original story as possible.

Syed continues, “It has nostalgic elements for the grown-ups and, at the same time, fresh storylines making it relatable for the younger audiences.

Vertical Entertainment has acquired out of AFM worldwide rights to sci-fi adventure War Of The Worlds: The Attack and plans a 2023 theatrical release.

The story follows three young astronomers tracking a meteorite that crashes into earth who discover they are at the epicentre of a Martian invasion. A soldier helps the trio and they end up in London where they must find a way to save mankind. The project is in post-production.

Jason Merrells, Neil Morrissey and Michelle Collins for Death in Paradise
Emmerdale star Jason Merrells and Neil Morrissey will be among the stars to appear in Death in Paradise next year.

Former Harry Potter actor Matthew Lewis, soap star Michelle Collins and comic actress Sally Phillips will also feature in the upcoming fourth series, reports Radio Times.

James Fox, Francis Magee, Nick Moran, Colin McFarlane, Jo Absolom and Gary Lewis have also been added to the guest cast list.

Merrells recently confirmed his guest role during an interview with Digital Spy.

They join the previously announced guest stars Natalie Gumede, Simon Day, Ali Bastian, Will Mellor, Tyger Drew-Honey, Hetti Bywater, Leo Staar and Amy Nuttall among others.

EastEnders' Hetti Bywater to guest on Death in Paradise series 4
EastEnders actress Hetti Bywater will appear in an episode of Death in Paradise.

The actress will make her first TV appearance since leaving the BBC One soap as Lucy Beale in the upcoming fourth series of the crime drama starring Kris Marshall.

Will Mellor, Outnumbered star Tyger Drew-Honey, Strictly Come Dancing runner-up Natalie Gumede and Downton Abbey's Amy Nuttall will also make appearances.

Filming has begun in Guadeloupe for the fourth series, with Sara Martins and Danny John-Jules also returning as Camille and Dwayne.
