Ace Eddie Awards 2025 Winners: Wicked, Emilia Perez Take Top Film Honors

Wicked and Emilia Perez were named the best edited feature films of 2024 at the 75th Annual Ace Eddie Awards. Winners were announced on March 14, 2025 during a ceremony that was originally scheduled for January 18th. The devastating Los Angeles wildfires forced the delay, and the American Cinema Editors opted for a less formal ceremony that helped raise money for wildfire relief.

On the television side, awards season favorite Shogun, What We Do in the Shadows, and Frasier took home awards. Both What We Do in the Shadows and Frasier earned Ace Eddie Awards for their final seasons, while Shogun is set to return for a second season.

The American Cinema Editors (Ace) has announced its winners for the 2025 Ace Eddie Awards, which recognizes “outstanding editing in 14 categories of film, television and documentaries.”

Emilia Pérez and Wicked won in the feature film categories, while The Wild Robot and Will & Harper won best animated feature and documentary feature, respectively. What We Do in the Shadows, Shogun and Baby Reindeer won in the TV categories, among others.

The 75th annual ceremony celebrating the best editing of the year was originally set to take place on Jan. 18 before it was postponed due to the L.A. wildfires.

At the event, Wicked filmmaker Jon M. Chu received the Ace Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award; and film editors Maysie Hoy and Paul Hirsch received career achievement awards. Conclave, Dune: Part Two and Emilia Pérez were among the drama feature film nominees while Anora, Challengers and The Substance were included in the comedy film nominees.

The American Cinema Editors (Ace) announced the nominees for the 75th Annual Ace Eddie Awards, representing the best editing in films, television, and documentaries in 2024. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and Civil War will be competing alongside awards season favorites Conclave, Dune: Part Two, and Emilia Perez in the best drama film category. Wicked and The Substance compete in the comedy film category, along with Anora, Challengers, and A Real Pain.

Wicked‘s director Jon M. Chu will be recognized with the Ace Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award, an honorary award given to a filmmaker who “exemplifies distinguished achievement in the art and business of film.” Maysie Hoy and Paul Hirsch will receive Career Achievement Awards during the 2025 Ace Eddie Awards ceremony.

The American Cinema Editors’ Eddie Awards have announced their nominations in 14 categories honoring film, television, and documentaries. The winners will be announced live during the awards ceremony to be held on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at UCLA’s Royce Hall.

In addition to these competitive awards, “Wicked” director Jon M. Chu is set to receive the Ace Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award, recognizing a filmmaker “who exemplifies distinguished achievement in the art and business of film.” Meanwhile, film editors Maysie Hoy and Paul Hirsch will receive Career Achievement Awards “for their outstanding contributions to film editing.”

‘Nomadland,’ ‘Minari,’ ‘Mank’ and More Land American Cinema Editors Nominations

This year’s American Cinema Editors (Ace) nominations include “Nomadland,” “Mank,” “Minari,” “Sound of Metal” and “The Trial of Chicago 7.”

The guild, which will hand out its awards in a virtual ceremony on April 17, has a good track record forecasting the Oscar best picture winner — it has predicted 18 out of the last 29 winners. Last year, best edited feature film – dramatic went to “Parasite’s” Yang Jin-mo, and the film went on to win best picture at the Oscars. It also has a good record for predicting who wins the best editing Oscar — 23 out of the last 29 winners.

Nominees in comedy feature include “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm,” “I Care a Lot,” “On The Rocks” “Palm Springs” and “Promising Young Woman.”
