You Can Watch WWE PLEs In Theatres Near You Really Soon
Image
WWE’s gearing up to take SummerSlam to the big screen this year with a partnership with Fandango, and fans aren’t totally sure how to feel about it. The two-night event is going down live on August 2 and 3 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, and Regal Cinemas across the U.S. will be streaming it for that movie-theater vibe. You can grab a ticket for one night or go all in with a bundle for both nights, your call.

It’s definitely a bold move by Triple H, and let’s be honest, he’s had a few questionable storyline choices lately. So this decision is exciting, but also a bit risky. If it flops, it could add to the pressure he’s already under.

Exclusive: Wrestling fans will have another way to experience WWE’s SummerSlam next month, if they can’t attend in person.

The two-night event, taking place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, will also screen live in select Regal Cinemas across the U.S. on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3, Deadline can exclusively reveal.

The experience marks the launch of a multi-event collaboration between WWE and Fandango. While Regal will be the official exhibitor for SummerSlam, additional exhibitors are expected to join for future WWE live events.

“WWE is one of the most electrifying global entertainment brands, and its events deserve to be experienced on the big screen,” Will McIntosh, President, Fandango, said in a statement Monday. “We’re thrilled to work with WWE and Regal Cinemas to bring the action-packed SummerSlam 2025 cinema presentation to fans nationwide.”

Fandango Raises $1.3 Million to Send Members of Boys & Girls Clubs of America to Movies
Image
Fandango, an online platform for purchasing movie tickets, has raised over $1.3 million for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

The ticketing company partnered with theaters to have customers round up their movie ticket purchases to the nearest dollar. Movies that helped raise the most money were “A Minecraft Movie,” “Lilo & Stitch,” “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” “Captain America: Brave New World,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” DC Studios’ “Superman” and more.

Through its new round up fundraising feature on its website and mobile app, Fandango donated the balance to support the youth organization.

“Fandango customers are real-life superheroes, turning their passion for the cinema into an opportunity to support Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and help send youth across the country to the movies,” Will McIntosh, Fandango president, said. “We’re thrilled that through our new round up feature, we’ve surpassed this impressive $1.3M milestone for Boys & Girls Clubs of America,...

Fandango CEO Will McIntosh on How Loyalty Programs, Pre-Ordering Concessions and Alternate Content Can Revive Moviegoing
Image
Fandango would like to be the one-stop shop for all things movies.

Will McIntosh, the CEO of the company, argues that Fandango has moved far beyond selling movie tickets. Thanks to a series of acquisitions, it now owns Rotten Tomatoes, an aggregator of film reviews, and Vudu (rechristened Fandango at Home), which sells and rents digital copies of movies. It also has launched a program that allows customers to pre-order concessions, so they won’t have to wait in line for popcorn and soda, and has begun offering merchandise tied to new releases, such as the “Deadpool & Wolverine” friendship necklaces it sold last summer.

But McIntosh hopes the theaters that Fandango sells tickets for become more innovative and experimental.

“Theaters haven’t really benefited from investment in technology like other industries have,” says McIntosh, who came to Fandango in 2022 after overseeing NBC Sports Next, a portfolio of digital platforms in golf and youth sports.

Fandango President Paul Yanover Steps Down, NBC Sports Next EVP Will McIntosh Takes Over
Matt Strauss
Paul Yanover is stepping down as president of the ticketing site Fandango after a decade at the company, being replaced by NBC Sports Next EVP Will McIntosh, who will also continue his duties at the digital sports division as president.

Fandango, which is owned by NBCUniversal, has spent the past decade expanding under Yanover’s leadership, acquiring the popular review site Rotten Tomatoes, the on-demand video platform Vudu, and movie social media site Flixster. Fandango also expanded its YouTube footprint with its channel Movieclips, which has 57 million subscribers and has become a popular site for its clips of beloved scenes from popular films.

Yanover will remain at Fandango in a transitionary role over the next two months. McIntosh’s promotion will see him oversee operations of all of Fandango’s sites as well as NBC Sports Next sites like GolfNOW and Golfpass, digital extensions of NBC Sports’ Golf Channel. He will report to Pete Bevacqua,...

Paul Yanover Stepping Down at Fandango, Will McIntosh Named President of Ticketing Giant and NBC Sports Next (Exclusive)
Image
Paul Yanover is stepping down as president of Fandango after nearly a decade atop the country’s leading movie ticketing service. He will be replaced by Will McIntosh, who currently serves as executive VP of NBC Sports Next.

His new role will be slightly different, as he will serve as president of both NBC Sports Next and Fandango. NBC Sports Next operates GolfNOW, GolfPass, SportsEngine and other sports-related digital and e-commerce applications. McIntosh will report to Pete Bevacqua, chairman of NBC Sports and Matt Strauss, chairman of direct-to-consumer.

The well-liked, whip-smart Yanover will leave the company later this summer and will take time off before pursuing other endeavors. He joined Fandango in 2012, and worked to transform the business into more than a movie ticketing app, making it more of a digital network for film fans. Under his leadership, Fandango expanded its ticketing reach by buying MovieTickets.com, but it complimented that by buying Flixster,...

Books: Book Review: Will McIntosh: Hitchers
In fiction, dead people returning to the land of the living almost always haul a load of symbolic baggage along for the trip; as George Romero has proved over the years, the undead make potent metaphors. Most obviously, they represent the dormant past—the secrets, grudges, or longings that literally won’t stay buried. But obvious metaphors can still be powerful ones. Will McIntosh’s Hitchers, in which the spirits of the dead start taking over the living, is a fundamentally lightweight novel. But the easy style and the topic make it compulsively readable, and the curiously specific, unique way ...
