Don’t F*** in the Woods director Shawn Burkett will next helm the supernatural home invasion thriller The Devil You Know.

In 1983, Jacob Allen Shepherd violently took the lives of his entire family in a secluded cabin while performing an occult ritual. After the brutal slayings, he ends his own life, believing the ritual will grant him supernatural powers. The horrific incident sends shock-waves through the nation, igniting a morbid fascination that leads to the birth of a dangerous cult known as The Flock.

Now, over 40 years later, a couple unknowingly rents the same cabin for a weekend getaway, unaware that their visit coincides with the anniversary of the tragic events. Soon, they will realize that the followers of Jacob Allen Shepherd have returned to complete the ritual, setting their sights on the couple as their next intended sacrifice.

‘Halloween: Resurrection’ – 7 Things We Learned from the New 4K Ultra HD Special Features
Image
General consensus among Halloween fans typically ranks Halloween: Resurrection last out of the eight original films, which is perhaps why efforts have rarely been made to produce special features for the film. 20 years later, defenders of the oft-maligned sequel finally have some new insight into the production.

Scream Factory’s The Halloween 4K Collection (1995-2002) 4K Ultra HD box set boasts new interviews with several Resurrection cast and crew members that were produced by Justin Beahm’s Reverend Entertainment. Here are seven things I learned…

1. Actors shot their own headset camera footage

The reality TV angle was an interesting (and ahead-of-its-time) plot point, but the number of cameras involved complicated the shoot. “We had a video village that was just miles and miles of cable where there was something like 20 monitors of all the different feeds,” recalls production designer Troy Hansen.

In addition to the main film camera – with...

‘Betsy’ Review
Stars: Kelci C. Magel, Marylee Osborne, Erin R. Ryan, Joe Kidd, Justin Beahm, Cheyenne Gordon, Josh Miller, Ryan Stacy | Written and Directed by Shawn Burkett

Directed by prolific indie horror filmmaker Shawn Burkett, Betsy is a brand-new entry in the long-running werewolf movie mythos. Not a genre to approach lightly given the myriad of terrible werewolf films out there, Betsy tells the story of the titular character who, after surviving a vicious assault in the city, moves to the country in hopes of starting over. But we all know that recovery is not an option when you’ve been bitten by a werewolf!

Writer/director Shawn Burkett is probably best known to genre fans as the man behind Don’t F*ck in the Woods, a film whose very title struck a chord with horror audiences for its sheer audacity. After all, having sex in the woods is a Clear...

Children Of The Corn (1984) The Arrow Blu Review
Review by Roger Carpenter

Stephen King films can be a mixed bag. For every really good film adaptation (Carrie; The Shining; Misery) there’s a bad one (Maximum Overdrive; Graveyard Shift; The Dark Tower). There are also a whole slew of Stephen King films that fall somewhere in the middle. I think Children of the Corn is one of the films that falls squarely in the middle of the pack.

There are some real strengths in the film. It has some genuine star quality, with soon-to-be action star Linda Hamilton (The Terminator) and TV heartthrob Peter Horton (Thirtysomething) starring as married couple Burt and Vicky, who become stranded in a town filled only with murderous, brainwashed children. The children are led by Isaac (John Franklin), who has a direct connection with an evil entity the children worship called He Who Walks Behind the Rows, and Malachai (Courtney Gains), Isaac’s mean-spirited enforcer.

USA Drive-Ins and Johnny Rockets to Bring Drive-In Experience to Conventions in 2015
If you’ve been reading Daily Dead since we first opened, you know that I love catching horror movie marathons at the drive-in. Of course, it’s great to see original prints of classic horror movies on the big screen, but there’s a community aspect that’s unlike anything you’ll see at a regular movie theater and I’m always making new friends.

Unfortunately, drive-ins have had a real hump to get over the last few years with the push to digital projectors, making the low number of operational drive-ins even lower. Thankfully, there have been some great efforts to support these locations and it seems like there’s a real push to preserve and expand this experience for a new generation.

USA Drive-Ins announced that they’re working with Johnny Rockets and other partners to bring the drive-in experience to moviegoers across the country at special events,...
