Exclusive: Carly Hoogendyk has joined Omnipop Talent Group, the New York-headquartered management and production company known for its work with comedic multi-hyphenates, as a talent manager. She’ll be based out of the company’s West Coast office, there joining partners Bruce Smith and Zack Freedman.

Hoogendyk established her knack for identifying rising comedic talent as the editor of the Cramer Comedy Newsletter, an industry digest highlighting emerging comedic work across live, digital, film and animation. As a manager, she works with stand-ups, writers and actors. Clients joining her at Omnipop include Tallie Medel (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Addison Anderson (Stephen Colbert Presents Tooning Out the News) and Cody Wilkins (Call Me Kat).

Disney Branded Television and Disney Europe, Middle East and Africa (Emea) looks set to reveal a slew of new titles at France’s Annecy Animation Festival.

Apart from “Disney Junior’s Ariel,” a new series inspired by “The Little Mermaid,” pre-school adventure series “Magicampers” has also been greenlit.

Set at a day camp for magical creatures – its protagonists, Darly and Loomis, are half-pig and half-Pegasus, and half-donkey and half-unicorn – and created by Obie Scott Wade, it’s set to premiere globally on Disney+ and Disney Junior next year.

“We instantly fell in love with this ensemble of unique hybrid characters, who each combine something magical and something ordinary within themselves,” said Orion Ross, vice president of animation for The Walt Disney Company Emea.

“Their adventures in this lush fantastical world are wildly fun and also explore what it means to grow up and discover yourself.”

Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s original screenplay for award-season juggernaut Everything Everywhere All at Once and Sarah Polley’s adapted screenplay for Women Talking scored the marquee awards Sunday at the WGA Awards.

The WGA, which handed out its trophies for the year’s best writing in dual ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York City, also gave Apple TV+’s Severance wins for Drama Series and New Series, and FX’s The Bear for Comedy Series. HBO’s The White Lotus won for Limited Series, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver won for Comedy Variety Talk Series.

Everything Everywhere completed its sweep of the major guild awards with the win, which comes after triumphs at PGAs, DGAs and the SAG Awards, as well as Saturday in the category at the Spirit Awards. It has 11 Oscar nominations including Original Screenplay.

Exclusive: Dianne Doan (Warrior) and Connor Paolo (Revenge) have been cast as leads in Better Half, a surreal romantic comedy marking the feature directorial debut of Patrick Henry Phelan.

Pic’s plot is being kept under wraps, but it’s describe as a stylized feature set in Joshua Tree, CA.

Better Half hails from StudioFest, a festival program that awards its winners the opportunity to produce a feature film. Charles Irving Beale and Jess Jacklin lead the initiative and will exec produce.

Filmmakers and stars Elizabeth Banks and David Wain of “Wet Hot American Summer” are reuniting for a new movie musical at Amazon Studios.

Wain is directing the project, titled “Where the Fore Are We?”, and will produce with Banks and partner Max Handelman via their Brownstone Productions. Wain wrote the script with Zach Reino and Jess McKenna. Alison Small is executive producing.
