March 11, 2012 marks the one year anniversary of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami that killed thousands. In remembrance of the disaster, Fuji Television, Ridley Scott and Tony Scott are embarking on Japan In A Day.
The film is a 24-hour self-portrait of the country filmed by the public, based on the Life in a Day series. Starting March 11, participants will capture the day and upload their video to YouTube at www.youtube.com/JapanInADay.
Fuji is donating 200 cameras to people in the most devastated areas of the country, and the gathered video as well as Fuji Television's coverage from the day will also be uploaded. Fuji TV plans to select the best material to complete the project. Ridley Scott will be producing the project.
All profits from the film will be given to victims of the disaster.
