FBI Season 5 Episode 21 Review: Privilege
Katie Ryan
Again, Maggie's moral compass gets spun on a pair of similar abductions.

That's because she was offended by the two very different ways those two cases were handled on FBI Season 5 Episode 21.

A college student, who was also the daughter of a prominent senator, was abducted in a sketchy Brooklyn neighborhood.

Because of who Sen. David Becker was, everyone short of the Park Rangers got thrown into her disappearance.

It made sense that the FBI might believe the kidnapping targeted the outspoken leftist senator, who had made waves in a divided Washington.

But after the senator denied he'd made any severe enemies, they had to take another look at honor student Allison.

Unfortunately, the ex-cop turned Pi who had been tailing Allison proved to be a red herring, just someone looking to damage her father's reputation.

After the agents determined why Allison was in that section of the city regularly,...

Salem Horror Fest 2023 – 7 Movies We Watched at This Year’s Event
Image
While previous incarnations of Salem Horror Fest occured in tourist-heavy October, this year’s sixth installment smoothly shifted to two weekends in April. The official selections include 20 features and 37 shorts, along with repertory programming, celebrity guests, live podcasts, panels, after parties, and more.

Here’s what I saw at this year’s event…

Bury the Bride

After making his feature directorial debut with last year’s horror anthology Allegoria, Powerman 5000 frontman Spider One returns with Bury the Bride, exhibiting considerable growth as a filmmaker in a short span of time. He channels a redneck-fueled grit similar to his elder brother Rob Zombie’s ourve, particularly The Devil’s Rejects, coupled with Quentin Tarantino-esque idiosyncrasies.

The film follows bride-to-be June along with her older sister (co-writer Krsy Fox) and three of her closest friends into the California desert for a bachelorette party at a rural house owned by her mysterious fiance,...

‘Bury the Bride’ Review (Tubi Original)
Image
Stars: Scout Taylor-Compton, Krsy Fox, Lyndsi Larose, Katie Ryan, Rachel Brunner, Dylan Rourke, Chaz Bono | Written by Spider One, Krsy Fox | Directed by Spider One

Bury the Bride, which recently debuted as a Tubi Original, is the second film from director Spider One and co-writer Krsy Fox after last year’s Allegoria. Spider One, for those not into the industrial metal scene, is the singer and only consistent member of the band Powerman 5000; and probably more important to his expansion into filmmaking, he’s Rob Zombie’s younger brother.

And Bury the Bride certainly opens like one of his brother’s films as credits playing over an old-timey love song give way to green-tinted footage of a woman hacking at someone or something just out of sight. And then to a group of women talking about the dick size of someone’s fiance while another tries, and loudly announces her failure,...

Bury the Bride teaser trailer: Spider One horror movie is coming to Tubi
Image
Last year, Spider One – the frontman of Powerman 5000 and the brother of fellow musician/filmmaker Rob Zombie – made his feature directorial debut with the horror anthology Allegoria. Now Spider One has made a new horror film called Bury the Bride, and our friends at Bloody Disgusting have confirmed that this one is set to be released through the Tubi streaming service on April 22nd. With just two weeks to go until that date arrives, a teaser trailer for Bury the Bride has been brought to our attention, and you can check it out in the embed above!

Spider One wrote the screenplay for Bury the Bride with Krsy Fox, crafting the following story: Bride-to-be June’s bachelorette getaway turns deadly when her blood-thirsty fiancé and his backwoods friends show up to crash the party. What follows becomes a living nightmare of unholy proportions as June, her sister Sadie and their...

Charlyne Yi: Seth Rogen Must Apologize to Assault Survivors After Distancing Himself from James Franco
Image
Charlyne Yi took to Instagram in the aftermath of Seth Rogen publicly distancing himself from James Franco to urge Rogen to apologize to the women who accused Franco of sexual misconduct. In an interview with The Sunday Times published May 9, Rogen said he does not have plans to work with Franco again. Franco was accused in 2018 of forcing several of his acting students into sexual situations, among other claims of sexual misconduct. Rogen originally sided with Franco, saying in a 2018 interview that he would continue to work with him.

In an Instagram post published this week, Yi said Rogen’s decision to originally side with Franco was harmful to the women who accused Franco of sexual misconduct. Yi wrote that Rogen’s actions could have “caused denial, loss of reality, loss of intuition to protect self from future abusers, life-long health issues, [and/or] attempt in suicide” for the women.

A post shared by Ryan Basch (@ryanbasch) on Oct 14, 2020 at 4:48pm Pdt

Special delivery! We've got some pure, uncontroversial content to cleanse your timeline, so sit back and get ready to crack a smile. Earlier this week, Dwyane Wade was taking a casual barefoot stroll down the beach with a friend in Montecito, CA when he accidentally photobombed a couple's proposal. A man by the name of Ryan Basch was popping the big question to his now-fiancée, Katie Ryan, on the sands outside the Rosewood Miramar Beach as Dwyane walked by in the background, much to their surprise. The former Miami Heat basketball player was caught on camera with the sweetest mid-"aww!" facial expression, and he even wound up taking a group picture with the newly engaged couple. Talk about #ProposalGoals.

But the story doesn't stop there. Shortly after Ryan shared evidence of the unexpected run-in on Instagram,...

James Franco accusations throw 'The Disaster Artist' international release into question
Will Warner Bros stick with distribution plan?

The fate of the international release of The Disaster Artist has come under the spotlight after five women accused Golden Globe winner James Franco of inappropriate or sexually exploitative conduct.

The accusations ran in an article in the Los Angeles Times on Thursday (January 11), days after Franco told Late Show host Stephen Colbert that earlier accusations were “not accurate” and followed that up with an apearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Wednesday in which he said he wanted to let people with allegations speak out.

The Disaster Artist is winding down in North American theatres, where it has grossed $19.6m through A24 since the December 1 release. The film earned Franco the best actor in a musical or comedy award at Sunday’s Golden Globes and the best comedy actor prize at Thursday evening’s Critics’ Choice Awards (which Franco did not attend), however it would appear an Oscar push...

James Franco Faces Sexual Abuse Accusations from 5 Women
James Franco
James Franco wore a Time's Up pin while he accepted the Golden Globe award for Best Actor late last week, so women began to speak up about his sexual inappropriate behavior on Twitter. Breakfast Club star Ally Sheedy was one of the women to first question why Franco won an award, but was cryptic in her since deleted tweets. Aspiring filmmaker Violet Paley then came forward and accused James Franco of sexual misconduct, as well as actress Sarah Tither-Kaplan. Now, in a new Los Angeles Times article, more women have come forward to accuse the 39-year old actor of sexual misconduct and abuse of power.

Sarah Tither-Kaplan is one of five women who, in interviews with The Los Angeles Times, accused James Franco of behavior they found to be inappropriate or sexually exploitative. Four were his students, and another said he was her mentor. In some cases, they said they...

Five Women Accuse James Franco of Sexually Exploitative Behavior
James Franco
Multiple women have accused James Franco of "inappropriate or sexually exploitative" behavior in an article published by The Los Angeles Times on Thursday.

The alleged misconduct took place primarily when Franco was an acting teaching at Playhouse West in North Hollywood and at a now-closed film school he founded, Studio 4. At Studio 4, he taught a class titled "Sex Scenes," and students allege that he pressured them to perform scenes partially nude or acted inappropriately while filming sexual encounters.

In addition to these allegations, actress Violet Paley claimed that Franco...

James Franco has been accused of sexually inappropriate behavior by five women — four of whom were his students.

In a new article published in the Los Angeles Times, five women have accused the actor of abusing his power as an acting teacher and mentor in a sexually exploitative manner.

Sarah Tither-Kaplan, a former acting student at the film school Franco founded, said the actor once removed safety guards while filming an oral sex scene on the set of the 2015 film The Long Home.

Follow the Money in New Official Trailer for Fabien Dufils' Film '1 Buck'
"Here, a good luck charm." Gravitas Ventures has debuted the trailer for the indie film 1 Buck, from filmmaker Fabien Dufils, telling the story of one dollar bill as it travels 'round a forgotten town in Louisiana. Yes, crazy enough, the concept for this is to follow a dirty dollar as it travels from person to person, pocket to pocket, getting in trouble and paying for things. The cast includes John Freeman, Katie Lynne Ryan, Cassi Colvin, Will Green, River Faught, and Darren Kendrick. This looks a bit over-the-top in terms of the depravity and crime, but so be it. Not really sure this is worth a watch, despite the dollar bill concept. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Fabien Dufils' 1 Buck, direct from Gravitas' YouTube: If money could talk... Shifting from one pocket to another, from one man's drama to another, is a lowly dollar bill. 1 Buck takes us...
