The reboot of Queer as Folk won't have a second season. The Peacock series, which launched in June, has been cancelled after eight episodes.

A drama series, Queer As Folk is a reimagining of the 1999 UK series of the same name. The program was previously adapted for a five-season run on Showtime. This newest version starred Fin Argus, CG, Jesse James Keitel, Ryan O'Connell, Johnny Sibilly, Devin Way, and Cameron Hathcock. The catalyzing event in Peacock’s new Queer as Folk is a horrific act of violence. Midway through the first episode, an unnamed shooter enters a New Orleans gay club called Babylon and opens fire on the crowd of partiers. Most of our main characters are among them, and for the rest of the eight-episode season, they’ll grapple with their lingering guilt and grief, with the unthinkable ways their lives changed that night, with the holes it left in the center of their community.

Yet despite the heavy premise, the series as a whole is surprisingly light on its feet. Sure, here and there are painful excavations of trauma or equally tear-jerking moments of defiant joy. But for the most part, the series allows its characters to be every bit as messy or silly or sexy or serious after the shooting as they were before.

The trailer for Peacock’s “Queer as Folk” hints at developing romances, pride events and at least one mother trying to pry into her child’s new relationship.

The show is a reimagining of the groundbreaking British series created by Russell T. Davies it follows “a diverse group of friends in New Orleans whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy.” The tragedy is also heavily hinted at in the trailer.

“Like most queer ‘90s kids, I had a unique relationship with the original ‘Queer as Folk,'” Stephen Dunn, creator, executive producer, writer and director of the Peacock version, previously said in a statement. “Growing up, I was desperate for any sort of connection with people like me. It was the first time I really felt seen. The show offered a new paradigm – one where we could accept and celebrate queer love, families, and communities on a global stage.

Starzplay has acquired Stephen Dunn’s reimagining of groundbreaking British series “Queer as Folk” for a slew of territories including the U.K., several continental European countries, and Latin America.

The Peacock-produced reboot of the Russell T. Davies series from the ’90s about three clubgoing men in Manchester’s gay village, has been acquired by the streaming service for Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Latin America, Luxembourg, Spain, Netherlands, the Nordics and the U.K.

The eight-episode show will premiere in the U.K. on July 1, with other local premieres rolling out exclusively in the other territories on July 31. Two new episodes will be available each week.

Peacock’s reimagining of the seminal LGBTQ+ series “Queer as Folk” is expanding its cast.

Lukas Gage, most recently of HBO’s “White Lotus,” Megan Stalter (“Hacks”), Olli Haaskivi and Calvin Seabrooks have joined as guest stars, Peacock announced Thursday.

Here’s what we know about their characters:

Gage is playing Eric, a personal trainer. Stalter plays aspiring singer Meg. Haaskivi plays George, a friend from the mall. Seabrooks plays a reluctant dinner party guest named Taylor.

The new “Queer as Folk” comes from creator and executive producer Stephen Dunn, EP Jaclyn Moore, and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group. It’s based on the British show created by Russell T. Davies.

While the original series was set in Manchester, U.K., the new version is set in New Orleans. It follows a group of friends whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy.

Dimarco made history (twice!) as the first deaf contestant to win America’s Next Top Model (2015) and Dancing With the Stars (2016). His acting credits include roles on Switched at Birth, Difficult People, This Close and Station 19.

Both “Black Monday” and “Work in Progress” have been canceled at Showtime.

“Black Monday” aired its third season on Showtime from May to August 2021. The dark comedy series followed a group of Wall Street traders in the late 1980s into the early 1990s. It starred Don Cheadle, Andrew Rannells, Regina Hall, Paul Scheer, and Casey Wilson.

Scheer had revealed the news on the Twitch show “Thursdays with Rob & Paul,” saying “I guess we haven’t said it. Let’s say ‘Black Monday’ was not renewed.”

“Black Monday” was created by David Caspe and Jordan Caham, with both serving as showrunners and executive producers. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg also executive produced along with Cheadle. Rannells and Hall produced. Showtime and Sony Pictures Television co-produced the series.

It seems Caitlin’s frequent mentioning of her ex on The Flash this season was laying the groundwork for a comeback: Robbie Amell will reprise his role as Ronnie Raymond (aka one half of the original Firestorm) during two episodes of Season 8, EW.com reports.

Amell will first appear in Episode 11, long after the current “Armageddon” five-part event wraps up on Dec. 14. (The series will then resume with fresh installments on its new night, Wednesday, March 9.) No details are currently available about how Amell’s character will return or in what form.

Showtime announced the 10-episode Season 2 will premiere in August with two episodes airing back-to-back.
