The iconic slasher film, Friday the 13th, is returning to cinemas for a one-night-only special event. The original 1980 film is celebrating its 45th anniversary, and horror fans will have a chance to see one of the essential films in the slasher subgenre of horror (the one where masked killers often hunt down teenagers). The event will be held, of course, on Friday, June 13, at The Autry Museum in Los Angeles, and tickets are selling fast.

Move over Kendrick, this year's halftime show might just be stolen by the upcoming horror movie The Monkey directed and written by Osgood Perkins. 1428 Elm has learned that distributor Neon has partnered with The Kill Count creators Dead Meat to create the first "Horror Halftime Show." It will air as part of Super Bowl Sunday on the Dead Meat YouTube channel.

This weekend, the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Philadelphia Eagles as part of the Super Bowl Lix. It will be one of the biggest sports and entertainment events of the year, with tons of new trailers set to premiere along with the continued tradition of fun Super Bowl commercials. Osgood Perkins, the writer and director of Neon’s upcoming horror film The Monkey, and star Elijah Wood, will join the Dead Meat hosts James A. Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca for the first-ever Horror Halftime Show.

Taking inspiration from John Madden, the late legendary football coach and sports commentator, Dead Meat’s Horror Halftime Show will be the ultimate twisted event for horror fans to celebrate the past year of exceptional horror filmmaking.

Just as Madden would analyze replays, Perkins, Wood, Janisse and Rebecca will review top horror films, kills, and scares complete with slow-motion, frame-by-frame commentary. The inaugural show promises to deliver a bloody good time with the gnarliest horror scenes and plenty of comedy.

IndieWire can announce that genre auteur Osgood Perkins, who wrote and directed the hit 2024 outing “Longlegs” and the upcoming horror film “The Monkey,” will co-host a special Super Bowl halftime show dedicated to dissecting the best scary movies of the past year.

Perkins will be joined by his “The Monkey” actor Elijah Wood for the “Horror Halftime Show,” a special Dead Meat episode led by Dead Meat creators James A. Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca. Since being released in 2009, Michael Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat has become a true cult classic. The movie was originally delayed for two years, but despite all the odds stacked against it, it found an audience that embraced it as a true modern-day Halloween classic. The cult interest was enough to see a sequel announced in 2013, but news has been scarce about the follow-up...until now. With Trick 'r Treat releasing a new 4K Ultra HD edition that is bound to be a treat for fans, Dougherty has offered an update on the sequel that sounds promising.

In a new commentary moderated by Dead Meat’s James A. Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca, Doughtery confirms that he wrote Trick ‘r Treat 2 with his Krampus collaborators Todd Casey and Zach Shields and it’s already storyboarded, but getting it made within the studio system is complicated.

“It’s tricky, because I think we really did capture lightning in a bottle with this one, and it nearly killed me.
