Based on the Apple original podcast, Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy, the eight-episode, hour-long series “tells the wild ride relationship tale of two of the greatest showman-magicians in history who, along with their white tigers, are tasked with turning Sin City into a family-friendly destination. The duo pushes the concept of illusion versus reality to the extreme, personally and professionally, until tragedy reframes and opens a mystery surrounding their last fateful Las Vegas show,” according to a release from the streamer.

Production will begin this fall with Matt Shakman set to direct the pilot and serve as executive producer alongside Hoffman, who will also direct.

Brian Grazer, Kristen Zolner, and Natalie Berkus will executive produce for Imagine Entertainment, the company producing Wild Things. Additional executive producers include Tony Leondis, Kathy Ciric, and Will Malnati, who conceived the podcast on which the show is based. Kristen Zolner has parted ways with Imagine Entertainment, where she has served as head of television since 2022.

According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Zolner’s exit came amid broader streamlining measures at Imagine. The parting is said to be amicable, and Zolner’s role will not be filled.

Zolner succeeded Samie Kim Falvey at the helm of Imagine’s television unit, with Falvey having exited the company in late 2021. In her time with Imagine, Zolner oversaw projects including the Peacock series reboots of “The ‘Burbs” starring Keke Palmer and “Friday Night Lights,” a scripted series about magicians Siegfried & Roy at Apple TV+, and the Netflix Mexico series “The Gringo Hunters.”

Zolner joined Imagine after nearly a decade at Netflix, where she was director of original series. During her Netflix days, she worked on shows like “Emily in Paris,” “Dead to Me,” “Big Mouth,” “Master of None,” and “Survival of the Thickest.

“The Ms. Pat Show” has scored a Season 5 renewal from BET+ as co-creator and star Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams extends her overall deal with BET Media Group to include linear and streaming projects.

The sitcom is based on the life story of Ms. Pat, as told in her memoir “Rabbit: The Autobiography of Ms. Pat,” as she transforms from a convicted felon and drug dealer from Atlanta into a suburban mother. Series regulars Williams, J. Bernard Calloway, Tami Roman, Vince Swann, Briyana Guadalupe, Theodore John Barnes and Brittany Inge are set to return for Season 5.

Deadline revealed Williams was expanding her relationship with BET in 2022 by signing a multi-year overall deal under which she would produce and perform in new series and other projects across BET. Her first project under the deal was the unscripted courtroom series Ms. Pat Settles It, which premiered its second season in July.

Exclusive: Television executive and producer Erynn Baldwin, most recently founder and CEO of the storytelling app Lugu, has joined Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Television as Vice President. In her new role, Baldwin will be responsible for bringing in new projects and developing series across comedy and drama.

Baldwin will be joining the television team which includes SVP James Seidman, VP Natalie Berkus, and Director of Development Nicole Scott, across a strong slate of projects.

Nicolas Cage will portray “Tiger King” subject Joe Exotic in an eight-episode scripted series about the now-imprisoned big-cat breeder, TheWrap has learned.

The limited series — which is not to be confused with the Kate McKinnon “Tiger King” scripted show in the works at Ucp — hails from Imagine Television and CBS Television Studios. No network or platform is currently attached to the show, working title “Joe Exotic,” but an individual with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap it will be taken to market in the next few days.

The series centers around Joe Shreibvogel (also known as Joseph Maldonado-Passage), “an eccentric, exotic zookeeper in Oklahoma who fights to keep his park — even at the risk of losing his sanity,” per its logline. “The series will live in the lion’s den with Joe, explore how he became Joe Exotic, and how he lost himself to a character of his own creation.

Nicolas Cage is set to star in a scripted series centered on Joe Exotic, the subject of the Netflix docuseries “Tiger King,” Variety has learned exclusively.

The eight-episode series is being produced by Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios. It will be taken to market in the coming days. It is based on the Texas Monthly article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild,” by Leif Reigstad.

CBS TV Studios optioned the article in June of 2019. Dan Lagana will serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer under his overall deal at CBS TV Studios with Paul Young executive producing via Make Good Content. Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Samie Kim Falvey will executive produce for Imagine. Cage will executive produce via Saturn Films. Scott Brown and Megan Creydt will executive produce for Texas Monthly. Imagine’s James Seidman and Natalie Berkus are overseeing the project for the company.
