As someone with a soft spot for both aquatic carnage and the gloriously unhinged cinema of The Asylum, I approached Shark Warning with tempered expectations and a hopeful heart. After all, when they’re not busy crafting mockbuster mayhem, The Asylum does occasionally deliver a creature feature that scratches the right B-movie itches. With the chill of fall settling in and the inevitable flood of homicidal holiday mascots on the way, Shark Warning seemed like the perfect seasonal send-off for summer sharksploitation. In hindsight, maybe I should’ve waited for a killer reindeer instead.
The story kicks off in Lake Havasu, where young Danny (Gordon Mudd) becomes a midday snack for a rogue great white, under the negligent eye of Uncle Ron (Andi Rexha). Fast forward twenty years,...

When they’re not churning out mockbusters, The Asylum manages to produce films like Shark Warning at a pretty good pace as well. And with fall having arrived, I figured I might as well get in one last tale of finned fury before Krampus and killer Santas become required viewing. I probably shouldn’t have pushed my luck and looked for a killer Rudolph film instead.
Young Danny (Gordon Mudd) and Alan (Jonas Silbor) play on the beach under the not-so-watchful eye of their Uncle Ron when a great white swims into the shallows and attacks Danny. Twenty years later, the now-grown Alan is returning just in time for the Lake Havasu fishing tournament. He’s almost instantly recognized by Lisa, “You’re the brother that lived!

From the writer of Shark Side of the Moon comes The Asylum’s Shark Warning, which is first swimming to limited theaters on July 26 before arriving on VOD outlets on July 30.
In Shark Warning, “After 20 years, a man returns to the town where his brother was killed by a shark. But when it resurfaces and kills again, the man decides to hunt down the predator.”
Of course, the storyline is set into motion when a bunch of pesky humans commit the cardinal sin of shark attack movies, putting their own greed ahead of the safety of the town’s residents. Yup, it’s another low-budget Jaws. You already know what you’re getting from this one.
The film will be opening in the following theaters this Friday:
Laemmle Glendale – Glendale, CA Hickory Ridge Cinemas – Brunswick, Oh Trylon Cinema – Minneapolis, Mn Film Noir Cinema – Brooklyn, NY Aurora Cineplex – Roswell, Ga

Yay! It’s another mockbuster from The Asylum. Yes, those fine purveyors of shark-schlock have returned to their mockbuster roots with The Tomb: Heart of the Dragon, a low-budget “homage” to the Tomb Raider series, another example of The Asylum’s savvy marketing methinks – originally timed to debut a mere week Before the release of the Alicia Vikander starring blockbuster reboot of the film franchise but not released in the UK, direct to DVD, until this week!
For those unaware, I am a huge fan of The Asylum’s output and I’m not just talking Sharknado and it’s sequels or the myriad of other killer-fish flicks they’ve produced. Films like Avengers Grimm, Abraham Lincoln...
