Prey has initial mid-to-low scores from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes with a handful of five-star reviews skewing the score high.

While the plot of Prey is admittedly mediocre, one of the movies strengths is the cast, who brings the characters to life.

Director Luke Greenfield's enthusiasm and creativity, along with a youthful cast, make The Girl Next Door a standout high school movie. Despite mixed reviews initially, the film has gained a cult following. Emile Hirsch reflects on his unexpected career trajectory, transitioning from playing local oddball characters to tougher roles in films like Prey.

In an exclusive interview with MovieWeb, Emile Hirsch revealed why he thinks his 2004 teen sex comedy The Girl Next Door still holds up all these years later. The movie, which stars Hirsch alongside Elisha Cuthbert, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, with the actor believing that The Girl Next Door possesses all the ingredients needed to make a great high school movie, including a passionate director, a great script, and a cast who “are actually the age of being in high school.”

All these years later, Emile Hirsch still resembles the young lad that led the charge in a certain raunchy comedy known as The Girl Next Door. Two decades later, in his most recent movie Prey, Hirsch plays an entirely different character, a sort of hotheaded wildcard of a pilot trying to escort hopeless Americans away from Africa after a local village is threatened. Leading the group of passengers aboard the doomed plane is a doctor played by Ryan Phillippe, who Hirsch has known personally. It may come as a shock to know they hadn't worked together before Prey.

That's just one of the fun facts we learned in our latest interview with Hirsch, who also opened up about a memorable experience with Spielberg and why Speed Racer (2008) has become a cult classic.

Lionsgate UK has released the first international trailer for Submergence, which stars James McAvoy and Alicia Vikander. This all-star cast is directed by the incomparable Wim Wenders, who has made more than 60 films in his iconic career.

Submergence is a love story that takes us into the extremely different worlds of our two protagonists, Danielle Flinders (Alicia Vikander) and James More (James McAvoy). They meet by chance in a remote hotel in Normandy where they both prepare for a dangerous mission. They fall in love almost against their will, but soon recognize in each other the love of their lives. When they have to separate, we find out that James works for the British Secret Service. He's involved in a mission in Somalia to track down a source for suicide bombers infiltrating Europe.

“Morgan is Going to Die Tonight... a Lot!” Jason Horton's (Monsters in the Woods) latest project is titled 5 Sins. Shooting will begin this May, in Burbank, California.
