Emily in Paris Sets Sights on Venice for August Shoot
Luca Zaia
Netflix has confirmed that Emily in Paris will relocate to Venice for a ten-day shoot from 5–15 August, marking the first time the romantic-comedy series has filmed in the lagoon city. The Veneto region granted permits after Governor Luca Zaia hailed the production as “a showcase for our cultural heritage” and predicted a tourism boost despite peak-season crowds. Cameras are expected to capture the Rialto Bridge, Piazza San Marco and sections of the Grand Canal, with nighttime closures planned to minimise disruption to vaporetto service.

The move south follows a May shooting block in Rome that introduced Italian fashion heir Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini, as Emily Cooper’s new love interest while she oversees Agence Grateau’s fledgling Rome office. Series lead Lily Collins will reunite with Lucas Bravo and Ashley Park, but Camille Razat will not return after her character’s season-four departure. Creator Darren Star has hinted that...

‘Emily In Paris’ Set For August Shoot In Venice
Image
After Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s opulent, star-studded wedding in June, A-list celebs will be hitting Venice again in August for the shoot of Netflix show Emily in Paris.

Venice mayor Luca Zaia confirmed the news on social media over the weekend revealing that the show will shoot in the lagoon city’s historic center from August 15 to 25, wrapping just two days before the Venice Film Festival kicks off across the water on the Venice Lido on August 27.

“The extraordinary news confirms that our territory is increasingly attractive to big audiovisual productions, thanks to its unique heritage and the teamwork between institutions and professionals in the sector,” Zaia wrote in his post.

He saluted the Veneto Film Commission as well as local production company 360 Degrees Film for their work in location scouting with series director Andrew Fleming and helping to secure Venice as a spot as a location.

'Suits LA' Star, 47, Lands New Major Role Following Show’s Cancellation
Image
Bryan Greenberg has been featured in many projects since his career began in 1997, appearing in titles such as Bride Wars, Friends with Benefits, and Emperor of Ocean Park, just to name a few, before landing a major role in the Suits spin-off, Suits LA, as Rick Dodsen. Unfortunately, the legal drama spin-off has its life cut short, but that doesn't mean it's the end of the road for the American actor. Greenberg has received a second chance to appear on screens once more, as it was reported that he's set to star in Netflix's Emily in Paris, and details about his role have been revealed.

Greenberg is set to play Jake, described as "an American living in Paris," and will be a recurring character in the show. Also joining him is French actress Michèle Laroque (Good Will Hunting), who's set to play Yvette, who's an old friend of Sylvie’s.

Suits LA Star Lines Up Their Next Major TV Show Less Than 2 Months After NBC Canceled The Legal Drama
Image
Two months after the cancellation of Suits LA, one of its stars has landed a major role. Led by Arrow star Stephen Amell, with original series creator Aaron Korsh returning to spearhead the spinoff, Suits LA turned its attention to the world of entertainment law and put former prosecutor Ted Black right at the center of the action.

Amell was joined by Lex Scott Davis, Bryan Greenberg, Maggie Grace, Tim Winbush, Alice Lee, and Azita Ghanizada, but the new focus and the overall new characters did not continue the revived momentum that the original found on streaming. Suits LA season 2 was axed by NBC in May, owing to the legal drama's weak ratings and the network's shifting priorities.

Deadline confirms that Bryan Greenberg has joined Emily in Paris season 5. The actor, who played Rick Dodsen on the Suits spinoff, will play the recurring role of Jake in the hit Netflix romantic dramedy.

‘Emily in Paris’ Season 5 Adds ‘Suits LA’ Star Bryan Greenberg and Cesar-Nominated French Actress Michèle Laroque
Image
With filming of “Emily in Paris” season 5 now underway in France, Netflix has added a couple of new names to the cast of its hit show.

Bryan Greenberg, best known for “How to Make it in LA” and “The Mindy Project” and most recently seen in “Suits LA,” has joined the ongoing Parisian party and will play Jake, an American living in the French capital. Meanwhile, Michèle Laroque, a well-known and Cesar-nominated French actress and comedian known for films such as “Ma vie en Rose,” “Brillantissime” and “The Closet” will play Yvette, an old friend of Sylvie Grateau.

Greenberg and Laroque join fellow “Emily in Paris” newcomer Minnie Driver, who Variety announced has been cast in May and is set to play the royal Princess Jane.

Lily Collins’ Emily will meet a fellow American expat in the upcoming fifth season of Netflix’s hit comedy Emily In Paris. Bryan Greenberg (Suits LA) has joined the cast as recurring, playing Jake, an American living in Paris. Also set to recur in Season 5 is French actress Michèle Laroque (Better Days) who will play Yvette, an old friend of Sylvie’s (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu). Jake and Yvette are two of the three known new recurring characters that will be introduced next season, along with previously announced Princess Jane, played by Minnie Driver.

5 Netflix shows in danger of ending this year
Image
One of the worst feelings is getting invested in a television show only for it to get canceled well before its prime, leaving piles and piles of loose ends, countless cliffhangers, and unresolved plots. There are several variables for why television shows or series are canceled, from low viewership numbers to high filming costs.

While we do not know for certain if the following Netflix shows will be canceled this year, the chances, in our opinion, seem rather high. Some on our list may surprise you, but if there's one thing we know for certain about television show endings, they are often unexpected.

The Watcher

Believe it or not, but The Watcher is based on a true story, or a true nightmare if you will, about the Broaddus family moving into a new home only to be plagued by letters from an unknown stalker, The Watcher. The show ends without...

Emily in Paris creator calls star's comments against series a 'misunderstanding'
Image
Emily In Paris creator and executive producer Darren Star opened up to Deadline about the upcoming cast changes in season 5 of the Netflix show. Despite negative comments about his time on the show and the direction the writers were taking, Lucas Bravo is returning. Star promises his frustration at playing Gabriel was just a “misunderstanding.”

Bravo declared himself “frustrated” with Emily in Paris and that playing Gabriel was “not fun anymore” as the character was “being slowly turned into guacamole.” In a scathing interview, he made numerous disparaging comments about the writers and his character in the show.

“I think the latter, just a misunderstanding,” Star clarified in the recent interview. “I think he never intended not to come back.” So, looks like there are no hard feelings between the actor and the creator, well at least not in the public eye.

Emily in Paris' First-Ever Villain Is Coming Back For More
Image
Emily in Paris season 5 is currently filming, and the actress who portrayed the Netflix hit show's first-ever villain will be back in the new season. Emily in Paris season 4 upended Emily Cooper's (Lily Collins) status quo by moving her to Rome to head up Agence Grateau's new Italian office. Emily in Paris season 5 began filming in Rome before moving production back to France.

Varietyreports that Thalia Besson, who played "sexy and deceitful antagonist Geneviève" in Emily in Paris season 4, is confirmed to return for season 5. According to Variety, Emily Cooper’s new Italian love interest, Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), as well as her ex-boyfriends, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) will also return, while another male character will join Emily in Paris season 5. Not returning, however, is Camille Razat, who played Camille in Emily in Paris seasons 1-4.

Emily in Paris season 5 will have more 'complicated' twists for Emily's love life
Image
In case you hadn't heard the exciting news, Emily's officially back in Paris and hard at work filming the new season of her misadventures in love and life. Emily in Paris season 5 began filming in Rome in early May 2025 before making it back to Paris for the remainder of production. Let's not read too far into what it means that Emily has returned to Paris before we see what happens.

But we might be able to read as far as we'd like into recent comments shared by Emily in Paris creator Darren Star, in which he teases what to expect for Emily's love life in season 5. Even though she finally seems happy and settled in a healthy relationship with Marcello at the end of season 4, it looks like our girl just can't avoid a bit of mess what it comes to romance.

‘Emily In Paris’ Creator Darren Star Gives Season 5 Update, Addresses Camille Razat’s Exit & Lucas Bravo’s Return, Talks New Netflix & Peacock Shows
Image
Like his heroine, Emily In Paris creator/executive producer Darren Star is currently in Paris, working on the upcoming fifth season of his hit Netflix comedy series starring Lily Collins.

During an interview about the Netflix success of his previous series, Younger, Star provided an update on Emily In Paris.

“I think we’ve got a really terrific season coming up,” he said. “We filmed in Rome for the first four weeks, and that was an exciting experience to be there. Now we’re back in Paris, Emily is definitely back in Paris.”

Emily In Paris Season 5: Here’s What We Know About Netflix’s Fashion-Forward Rom-Com Return
Image
Emily’s Caught Between Cities & Hearts Again. ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Emily’s not done with Paris — or Rome — just yet. Netflix has officially renewed Emily in Paris for a fifth season, and oui, fans are already plotting their next fashionable binge. The production kicked off in May 2025, starting in Rome before circling back to Emily’s home turf, Paris. So while the release date hasn’t dropped, all signs point to a late 2025 or early 2026 premiere.

Creator Darren Star cleared (Via Deadline) the air: “She didn’t change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome.” Instead, Emily in Paris Season 5 is embracing a cross-continental vibe. After Season 4 closed with Emily zipping through Rome on a Vespa with Marcello to the tune of Close To You by Gracie Abrams, fans knew the next season would bring Italian heat. But don’t worry — Emily’s iconic Parisian chaos isn’t disappearing. She...

“Makari” Season 3 – TV series review
Image
A scene from the Italian light murder mystery series “Makari.” Courtesy of MHz Choice

It’s been almost two years since I reviewed the earlier seasons of this light, charming Italian murder mystery series, “Makari,” set in sunny Sicily. I encourage you to read the prior reviews to refresh your memory (as did I), to better understand the players and relationships for this third season. Here’s the link to that review: https://www.wearemoviegeeks.com/2023/07/makari-season-2-tv-series-review/.

This round includes four separate cases, with some significant story arcs running throughout. The episodes are a bit longer than before – each about 2 hours – but the light tenor of the series continues. Peppe helps Saverio with everything, while providing the rest of us with the comic relief of his clumsy, overly-friendly puppy personality.

This year, Saverio is enjoying some success as a novelist, leading to his being offered a guest teaching position at a nearby school.

Pope Leo Xiv Election Halts Filming on Netflix's 'Emily in Paris' Season 5

The only problem is that Season 5's production start date coincided with the first day of the conclave to elect the successor of the late Pope Francis, with the assembly taking place inside the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican in Rome.

Image
Lily Collins is heading back to Paris and Rome this summer.

Season five of Netflix’s hit show, Emily in Paris, is set to begin production in May, filming in Rome first before moving back to Paris later this summer.

Series regulars Collins (Emily Cooper), Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie Grateau), Ashley Park (Mindy Chen), Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gouery (Luc), William Abadie (Antoine Lambert), Lucien Laviscount (Alfie), Thalia Besson (Genevieve) and Eugenio Franceschini (Marcello) will all reprise their roles.

One former castmember notably missing from the list is Camille Razat, who played Camille in the first four seasons. However, it’s not a total surprise, as her character (spoiler!) left Paris at the end of season four after faking her pregnancy with Gabriel.

On the other hand, Bravo’s return as Gabriel may be a bit shocking, as he previously expressed that he’s been “frustrated with the direction my character is taking,...

Emily in Paris season 5 fortunately loses a character who overstayed their welcome
Image
There's some exciting news about Emily in Paris season 5 that will have fans exclaiming, "Oui, oui!" Well, depending on how you feel about a certain character who has now been revealed to be departing the series, at least in a series regular capacity. As first reported by Deadline, Camille Razat won't be back in season 5 as her trouble-making character Camille.

As much as we'll miss seeing the super-talented Razat in the series, we can't lie that the character Camille had run her course after four seasons. By the end of the fourth season, she had basically become a constant plot device meant to stir the pot and cause frustrations for Emily and Gabriel. There wasn't much left to do with her character to keep her in this world.

Camille lied to Gabriel about her pregnancy even after discovering that she was never pregnant. While she and Emily managed to bury...

Most of the cast members who were present during the fourth season of Emily in Paris will be back for even more shocking plot twists in the city of love. Unfortunately, fans of Camille will have to say goodbye to their beloved champagne heiress.

4 Netflix shows that had split seasons (but shouldn't have)
Image
When Netflix first started releasing its own original scripted content, the streamer did so with the revolutionary concept of binge-watching. Every episode was released all at once! We didn't have to wait a week in between new episodes! We could watch at our own pace! It was great, and still is, but Netflix has introduced a new release pattern for some of its shows: the split season.

Netflix introduced the two-part release strategy for its shows long before the actors' and writers' strikes impacted the film and television industry in 2023. Money Heist released its seasons in parts, as did comedies The Ranch and Fuller House, but those instances of split seasons were nothing compared to those we're seeing now.

The decision to divide Stranger Things season 4 into two parts in the summer of 2022 seemed to ignite the idea and put it into practice in a major way.The Witcher season...

Emily in Paris and 4 Netflix shows in danger of getting canceled in 2025
Image
When the dawn of a new year approaches and you take stock of the shows yet to be renewed or canceled, you never want to jinx these shows by predicting their fate. As an outspoken Emily in Paris fan, I don't want to put it out into the universe that the show — gulp — ends with season 5 or gets abruptly canceled, but sometimes... you have to call it like you see it.

It's a reality that as shows age, they are more likely to either get the plug pulled or end naturally with a final season. For avid television watchers, that's the circle of life on the small screen, save for a small population of outliers. Other shows that aren't so lucky to reach veteran status could find themselves teetering on the edge of no return, while some are sadly sitting ducks no matter how beloved.

In spite of Netflix's...

‘Emily in Paris’ Star Lucas Bravo Questions Season 5 Return: ‘Frustrated With the Direction My Character Is Taking’
Image
“Emily in Paris” star Lucas Bravo said he’s debating returning for the Netflix series’ upcoming fifth season after being “frustrated with the direction” his character, Gabriel, has taken.

“When you love something … you want the best version of it. I’m not going to lie, I’ve been frustrated with the direction by character is taking,” Bravo said in an interview with Indiewire while promoting his upcoming film, “Freedom.” “It makes me question if I want to be part of Season 5 […] because my contract ends at Season 4.”

While Bravo noted “the ‘sexy chef’ was very much part of [him] in Season 1,'” the turns his character has taken in the subsequent installments have created distance between the actor and Gabriel. “I’ve never been so far away from him.” Season 4, which debuted in two parts in August and September, saw Gabriel and Emily (Lily Collins) finally get together for a fleeting moment before breaking up,...

France's President Says He Will "Fight Hard" To Bring Emily In Paris Back To France After Rome Move
Image

The show, created by Darren Star (Sex and the City), follows young Chicagoan Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), who moves to Paris to work for a chic marketing firm. The season 4 finale seemingly sets up Emily for a big move to Rome, raising questions about Emily in Paris season 5's setting and surprising many viewers.

This includes the French president himself, whose wife made an appearance on the series this year. French President Emmanuel Macron Vows to Bring ‘Emily in Paris’ Production Back to France: ‘We Will Fight Hard’
Image
French President Emmanuel Macron isn’t ready to bid au revoir to “Emily in Paris.”

While Emily (Lily Collins) has relocated to Rome in the Season 4 finale of the hit Netflix series, Macron is vowing to bring the production back to France.

“We will fight hard. And we will ask them to remain in Paris!” Macron told Variety. “‘Emily in Paris’ in Rome doesn‘t make sense.”

“Emily in Paris” is confirmed to be moving to Italy for its fifth season as Emily will lead the marketing campaign for new client-slash-suitor Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini). And while it’s still unclear where the series could go next both narratively and in terms of jet-setting, it seems that Macron may have an advantage to bringing Emily once more to Paris: Macron’s wife Brigitte Macron guest-starred on the show.

“I was super proud, and she was very happy to do it,” Macron said of the cameo.
