12 Anime That Exceeded Everyone's Expectations For Better or Worse
Image
Every season, plenty of anime shows and films are met with hype to incredible degrees. Whether it’s because of the popularity of the source material, the pedigree of the staff and studio, or some combination of the two, some anime will stand out more than others, and those that do are often the ones that are the best to watch in their respective seasons.

Hype tends to be a good way of judging how good an anime will be, but that isn’t always the case. As often as anime are given hype, they’re just as often ignored either before their premieres or during because of their premises or a general lack of interest, but even with that, there are many cases when an anime will find major success with fans and critics alike after initially garnering little to no interest. A few anime, in particular, are especially...

Image
Pernida is one of Yhwach's Royal Guards, making it one of the strongest Quincy in Bleach. It may consider itself a Quincy, but Pernida is actually the sentient Left Arm of the Soul King, which governs evolution. As a result, Pernida can rapidly evolve to adapt to any situation or ability. The Compulsory allows Pernida to inject its nerves into a target, using them to rapidly destroy the person's body within seconds. Pernida can destroy many notable Bleach characters with this Schrift.

Pernida can destroy many Captain-level Soul Reapers who possess powerful Shikai and Bankai. Pernida values Quincy above all else, but if it were forced into a corner, it can easily destroy several Sternritter with The Compulsory. It can also obliterate a former Espada who specializes in close-range combat.

‘Resident Evil: Death Island’ Review – An All-Star and Affecting Entry in the Animated Franchise
Image
Resident Evil is a video-game franchise with no foreseeable end in sight. And as Capcom’s zombie shooter approaches the big 3-0, it unleashes another entry in the often overlooked animated series of films. Taking place between games 6 and 7, and following 2017’s Vendetta, the story of Resident Evil: Death Island is subject to the same formula as its predecessors. A big threat brews somewhere, and the characters rush in to stop it. However, the new animated film does manage to set itself apart by featuring an all-star cast and complementing the over-the-top action sequences with organic emotional moments.

While the previous animated films — Degeneration, Damnation, and Vendetta — tend to star only a few major characters from the game franchise, Death Island includes four heavy-hitters. Leon S. Kennedy, Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, and Claire Redfield are all active during this mission.

Death Island opens with a flashback from the Raccoon City...
