Bill Maher Says What The World Needs Now Is Love, Sweet Love – But In-Person, Not On Apps
Image
Holidays were much on the mind of Real Time host Bill Maher on Friday. He talked about the Super Bowl, Election Day, and Valentine’s Day during the course of the show, starting right at the top by acknowledging this weekend’s big game.

“The game is in Arizona, so don’t be shocked if Republicans don’t accept the results,” he quipped, adding, “The game is on Fox, with aerial coverage by China.”

Maher quickly shifted back into his wheelhouse of politics, noting this weeks’s State of the Union address. “The state of our union is uncivil,” he claimed. “Republicans acted like it was a bachelorette party at a comedy club.”

Maher’s panel discussion with Kristen Soltis Anderson, pollster and host of SiriusXM’s “The Trendline with Kristen Soltis Anderson,” and Democratic strategist and CNN political contributor Paul Begala dove into the question of who will be...

Image
Malcolm Nance, an analyst of terrorism and intelligence who frequently contributes to MSNBC, appeared on Joy Reid’s “The ReidOut” on Monday evening to announce he has joined the fight against Russia in Ukraine.

Nance, who is the executive director of think tank The Terror Asymmetrics Project, has joined the International Legion of Territorial Defense in Ukraine. As Reid reported on MSNBC, there are about 20,000 people from 52 countries currently serving in Ukraine following the Russian invasion.

“I spent quite a bit of time here in the pre-war period and when the invasion happened, I had friends who were in Donetsk, who were in the Ukrainian army, who were writing to us and telling us, ‘We’re not going to survive tonight. We’ve been hit 500 times,'” Nance said when Reid asked why he decided to join the fight.

“The more I saw of the war going on the more I thought,...

Vice TV Sets Debut of ‘While the Rest of Us Die: Secrets of America’s Shadow Government’ With Jeffrey Wright
Image
Vice TV has announced that its new series, “While the Rest of Us Die: Secrets of America’s Shadow Government,” will premiere on Nov. 16 at 10 p.m.

Based on the book by Garrett M. Graff, the six-part series exposes the U.S. government’s flawed plans to protect its citizens. The show unpacks America’s national security spending on hidden underground cities, a secret air force and a plan to suspend democracy in order to serve the interests of the elite class.

The series features interviews with political figures including former Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson and former National Coordinator for Security, Infrastructure, Protection and Counter-terrorism Richard Clarke, and national security experts Malcolm Nance, Elizabeth Goitien and Paul Rieckhoff. It will be narrated by “Westworld” star Jeffrey Wright.

“The events of this last year have laid bare the economic, political and health inequities at the core of American society,” said Graff.

Bill Maher Calls Election For Biden Because Networks “Too Chickensh*t”; Trump Finally “On The Other End Of An Eviction Notice”
Image
Updated with video: Joe Biden won the election, Bill Maher declared Friday, although you wouldn’t know it watching network anchors obsess about tens of votes in counties from four remaining states where the former VP is ahead and over the top in electoral votes.

“The networks are still too chickensh*t to call it,” said the host of HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher.

“No matter who you voted for, we can be proud that we live in the third most democratic country in North America,” said Maher, slamming the President’s performance last night claiming Michigan and calling votes that eroded his lead illegal. “He’s throwing a tantrum … He doesn’t like that for the first time he’s on...

‘#Unfit’ Film Review: Documentary Offers a Scary Diagnosis of Donald Trump, But Will Voters Listen?
Donald Trump
“#Unfit: The Psychology of Donald Trump” is a frightening documentary that can leave you scared to death about the prospect of Donald Trump remaining in the Oval Office a day longer than is absolutely necessary. It’s a cautionary tale that can offer some degree of insight into the mind of our commander in chief. But it’s also a political documentary that can make you wonder whether film is even the right medium with which to take on Trump, and whether a movie like this can connect with anybody who doesn’t already believe everything it has to say.

The film by director Dan Partland is timely, of course, hitting select theaters and virtual cinemas on August 28, at the end of the week of the Republican Convention, and heading to streaming and VOD on Sept. 1. And it is tied into current news: Its focus on psychoanalyzing the president fits...

Donald Trump Roasted Over Airport Gaffe During Salute To Revolutionary War; His Explanation: “Teleprompter Went Out” – Updated
Donald Trump
Updated with Trump addressing airports remark: President Donald Trump took some lumps over Thursday’s remark about Continental Army taking over the airpots during the Revolutionary War in 1775. Today he explained what happened.

“Yeah, the teleprompter went out,” Potus told reporters this morning. “It kept going on. And then, at the end, it just went out. It went kaput. So I could have said — and, actually, right in the middle of that sentence, it went out. And that’s not a good feeling, when you’re standing in front of millions of millions of people on television. And, I don’t know what the final count was, but that went all the way back to the Washington Monument. And I guess the rain knocked out the teleprompter.”‘

Well, that settles that.

Happily, he did not go on to suggest that the same thing happened to President Lincoln as he delivered the Gettysburg Address.

Eric Idle at an event for The Anniversary Party (2001)
‘Real Time’: No Support For Trump Supporter Jack Kingston On Maher Show
Eric Idle at an event for The Anniversary Party (2001)
Update, with video… Jack Kingston can’t seem to find a friendly spot since getting the boot from CNN. First the Trump surrogate was rebuked by Ari Melber on MSNBC for calling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as “a 29-year-old coffee barista,” and tonight on HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher he seemed to have been called a racist by one guest and dismissed as a paid mouthpiece by another.

Kingston, the conservative former congressman from Georgia-turned-former CNN pundit (his contract recently wasn’t renewed) was expressing shock at the blackface past of Virginia’s Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam. As Kingston was attempting to criticize Northam’s behavior as an outlier for the era – “Nobody did that” – he said, “And I’m from the Deep South…”

At which point Malcolm Nance, the career U.S. Counterterrorism Intelligence Office and frequent Real Time guest, said what sounded like, “Well, you exercised your racism,...

Trump Made a Mess of His Trip to Visit Troops in Iraq
President Donald Trump had been scheduled to close out 2018 with a 16-day vacation at Mar-a-Lago, up from the 11 days he spent at the “Winter White House” to bring home his first year in office. But prior to Christmas, the president decided to shut down the government because Congress won’t fund a border wall. The display of obstinance involved sticking around Washington for the holidays. “It’s a disgrace what’s happening in this country,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Christmas morning. “But other than that, I wish everybody a merry Christmas.

MSNBC’s Joy Reid, Noting Hacking Claims Remain Unproven, Apologizes For Offensive Posts
MSNBC anchor Joy Reid used her appearance Saturday on the network to try to change a conversation swirling around her.

Reid has been under a microscope in recent days owing to a new set of allegations that she penned a cache of old blog posts carrying homophobic remarks. The anchor has grappled with the problem since late last year and apologized previously, but found herself this week fending off a new discovery of items that she claimed were not hers, but rather the result of the work of hackers. Reid has employed a cybersecurity expert to bolster her assertions.

“I genuinely believe I did not write those hateful things because they are completely alien to me. But I can definitely understand based on things I have tweeted and have written in the past why some people don’t believe me,” she said during the opening segment of “A.M. Joy,...

Twitter Has Feelings About Donald Trump’s Face-to-Face Meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin
Donald Trump
Donald Trump met with Russian President Vladmir Putin for the first time on Friday, cordially shaking the former spy’s hand and giving the fellow leader a pat on the back before the pair’s official sit-down at the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Hamburg, Germany.

The 71-year-old business mogul and the former Kgb foreign intelligence officer, 64, came face-to-face in a closely watched encounter ahead of the summit’s meetings. Naturally, footage of the brief greeting has caught the attention of the Twittersphere.

“Trump and Putin ‘if you still don’t have a place to stay, remember, you have my room key,...

Real Time with Bill Maher invites Ted Nugent, sides with Breitbart over free speech
This week’s Real Time with Bill Maher guests were Breitbart editor-in-chief Alex Marlow, political analyst Ian Bremmer, veteran national security expert Malcolm Nance and performer Eddie Izzard. It was the opening interview with Marlow that had social media aflame as Marlow and Maher agreed on free speech but veered away from each over the Russian news stories. Interestingly Maher didn’t ask Marlow anything about former staffer Milo Yiannopoulos’ outlandish prior remarks. Or why Steve Bannon, who Maher dubbed a consigliere to President Trump, on his labeling Breitbart a “platform for the alt-right.” Or mention now ex-Breitbart reporter Katie McHugh for...read more...

Also on Real Time’s panel are president of global risk assessment firm Eurasia Group Ian Bremmer and retired U.S. Navy officer, Malcolm Nance. Journalist Cancels ‘Real Time’ Appearance After Breitbart’s Milo Yiannopoulos Booked On Same Episode – Update
Updated, 3:55 Pm: Journalist Jeremy Scahill, a frequent guest of Real Time with Bill Maher, has canceled his appearance set for this Friday in protest of the show’s booking of Milo Yiannopoulos, the controversial Breitbart News editor who Scahill says will use the HBO platform to “legitimize his hateful agenda.” Real Time has replaced Scahill with Malcolm Nance, author of The Plot to Hack America: How Putin's Cyberspies and WikiLeaks Tried to Steal the 2016 Election…...
