Right-Wingers Cope With ‘South Park’s Scorching Trump Parody By Pretending No One Watches the Show
Image
According to both the White House and the online right, South Park is so desperate to remain relevant and popular that Trey Parker and Matt Stone just signed a $1.5 billion contract extension with Paramount instead of squeezing the company for a beautiful $16 million.

Last night, South Park premiered its 27th season with the headline-making episode “Sermon on the ‘Mount,” which absolutely skewered President Donald Trump and the parent companies that play ball with him. Parker and Stone even brought back the classic South Park (and world) antagonist Saddam Hussein to play President Donald Trump as they excoriated the commander-in-chief for his open corruption, his fascistic orders and his tendency to sue his every critic and any painter who dares to depict his dick at its factually diminutive size.

In response to South Park calling him a small-dicked Middle Eastern dictator who launches frivolous lawsuits like they’re homing missiles aimed at Iran,...

James Gunn’s Politics in ‘Superman’ Isn’t Subtle While Conservatives Cry ‘Woke’ Tears
Image
One of the supremely obvious allegories in James Gunn‘s Superman movie was its political overtones and how it played into the good versus evil arc of Superman and Lex Luthor. However, what may be perceived as obvious and statistically accurate by some may be viewed as fictional and inaccurate by others, especially on issues as divisive and universally subjective as war and politics.

Superman, as comic book-oriented and fictitious as it may be, also finds its roots in real-world drama, reflecting the modern-day social, geopolitical, and media problems to make the story more grounded and believable. However, the downside of adopting such a storyline is the debate that the movie will rouse among the different political factions in our current reality.

James Gunn Says ‘Superman’ Has Nothing to Do with Gaza, but Hasan Piker, Ben Shapiro, and Others Keep the Debate Alive
Image
The new “Superman” movie has only been out for a few days, but it’s already causing a lot of online arguments. The film is doing great at the box office, but people are divided about what the story really means.

Some say it’s about the Israel-Palestine conflict, while others think that’s not true. James Gunn, the director, insists the movie isn’t about the Middle East, but the debate just keeps growing.

Even before the movie came out, it faced criticism from right-wing groups, including the Maga movement. This started after Gunn called Superman an immigrant. This upset some conservatives, and Fox News even called the movie “SuperWoke.”

Now that the movie is in theaters, a new controversy has taken center stage. The story is about two made-up countries called Boravia and Jarhanpur. Boravia says it wants to “free” the people of Jarhanpur, but there’s no real proof of that.

James Gunn Clarifies ‘Superman’ Isn’t About Israel-Palestine, But Debate Rages On With Hasan Piker, Ben Shapiro, and Other Political Voices
Image
The new “Superman” movie has been out for just a few days, and while it’s breaking box office records, it’s also stirring up some big online arguments. Some people think the film is making a statement about the real-life Israel-Palestine conflict, while others say that’s nonsense. James Gunn, who directed the movie, says it’s not about the Middle East at all, but the debate keeps growing.

Before the movie was even released, Gunn and the film were already getting attacked by right-wing groups, including the Maga movement. This all started when Gunn said Superman is an immigrant. Because he literally is. He’s an alien from another planet. That comment caused some backlash from conservatives, with Fox News calling the movie “SuperWoke.”

Now that the film is in theaters, a whole new controversy has taken over. In the movie, there’s a story about two made-up countries,...

James Gunn Said ‘Superman’ Is Not About the Middle East; It’s Still Sparking Debates From Hasan Piker, Ben Shapiro and More Political Commentators Over an Israel-Palestine Connection
Image
James Gunn’s “Superman” has ignited an online debate over whether or not its storyline is intentionally reflecting the Israel-Palestine conflict. In the movie, Nicholas Hoult’s villainous Lex Luthor has started a foreign war between two fictional countries. Superman is thrust into the global conflict when he stops Bovaria, the aggressor nation, from attacking its neighbor, Jarhanpur.

Ever since “Superman” opened in theaters (it earned $220 million globally in its debut), online political commentators have been either connecting the movie’s Bovaria-Jarhanpur conflict to the real-life Israel-Palestine conflict or refuting that’s the film’s intention. Hasan Piker, the left-wing political commenter who has a massive following as a Twitch streamer, posted a viral YouTube video explaining how “Superman” exposed Israel. Piker described the movie as “two hours and like 10 minutes of fuck Israel the entire time” and claimed anyone involved with the film would be “lying” if they told...

White House’s “Trump As Superman” Meme Quickly Draws Gavin Newsom’s Response: Man Of Steel “Was An Undocumented Immigrant”

The White House’s latest meme of Donald Trump is the president as Superman, coming just as Warner Bros/DC Studios releases James Gunn’s mega-pic about the superhero.

“The Symbol Of Hope. Truth. Justice. The American Way. Superman Trump,” the White House account read, with Trump taking the place of David Corenswet from the movie’s marketing material.

Megyn Kelly Says It’s ‘Too Late’ for Trump to Downplay Epstein Files | Video
Image
Megyn Kelly thinks it’s “too late” for President Donald Trump and his administration to try to pretend like people are going to accept the DOJ and FBI’s purported outcome when it comes to the Epstein files.

The journalist and podcast host discussed the case with Mark Halperin on Wednesday’s episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show,” in an episode titled “Epstein is Dividing Maga.”

“Trump himself promised full transparency on the Jeffrey Epstein case when he was running for president. This has been a big issue on the Right, my friend Dan Bongino was one of the people who made it a big issue. So did Kash Patel, talking about it over and over and over again,” Kelly recapped. “It is just not real for Trump to pretend he’s shocked. This is still an issue. Nothing’s been resolved. Nothing’s been released. He promised transparency, as did his attorney general,...

James Gunn and ‘Superman’ Cast Laugh Off Maga Freakout Over Hero’s Immigrant Origins
Image
Those with even the most basic knowledge of the Superman story would not have been surprised to hear what filmmaker James Gunn — director of the highly-anticipated Superman reboot — stated plainly in a recent interview with The Sunday Times. “Superman is the story of America. An immigrant that came from other places and populated the country, but for me, it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost,” he said.

Believe it or not, it’s true: Before there was Clark Kent of Smallville,...

Ben Shapiro Meets With Pope Leo at Vatican, Gifts Him With Memento From Home
Image
Conservative media personality Ben Shapiro is the latest famous face to secure time with Pope Leo Xiv, meeting with the new U.S.-born leader of the Catholic Church at the Vatican on Wednesday.

Shapiro, 41, founded the conservative news website The Daily Wire in 2015 as he rose to prominence in the world of right-wing podcasting. He expressed approval of Pope Leo Xiv when he was selected as the Catholic leader in May, indicating that he believed Pope Leo would veer away from the liberal stances of his predecessor. On Wednesday, the conservative media personality, who is Jewish, posted an image of the moment on X.com and shared what happened with his 7.8 million followers.

“It was an honor to meet His Holiness, @Pontifex in Vatican City today, and to thank him for standing up for Biblical values in a chaotic world…and to present him with a signed 2005 White Sox...

Disgraced ‘Jeopardy!’ Producer and One-Episode Host Has Finally Found His New Calling
Image
Veteran television producer Mike Richards, known for his scandal-laden stint as executive producer and, briefly, host of Jeopardy!, has found his next gig. He's traded in game shows for conservative media, signing on to be the new president of entertainment and chief content officer at Ben Shapiro's media giant, The Daily Wire. His hiring fills a vacancy left by CEO Jeremy Boreing, who stepped down from the company back in March and had previously set the course for its entertainment programming. Richards is now expected to work out of the company's Nashville headquarters and spearhead the company's further expansions beyond the political punditry and news spheres. Caleb Robinson, meanwhile, has been named CEO.

Before Jeopardy!, Richards had a hand in some of the biggest game shows on television over the last two decades. He's enjoyed lengthy stints on Wheel of Fortune, Let's Make a Deal, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?...

Harvey Weinstein Claims Innocence on Candace Owens’ Show: “Women Should Be Heard, But I’m Wrongfully Convicted”
Image
Harvey Weinstein continued to proclaim his innocence on Candace Owens’ show amid his retrial on a rape charge and two criminal sexual acts.

The interview, which Owens, a far-right political commentator, claims is the first on-camera interview Weinstein has done in eight years, came out Tuesday on the same day that the third and final accuser, Jessica Mann, testified as part of Weinstein’s trial related to an alleged rape in 2013. He also faces criminal sexual charges related to Miriam Haley, who alleges he forced oral sex on her at his Tribeca apartment in 2006, and from Kaja Sokola, who alleges that Weinstein forced oral sex on her in a Manhattan hotel in 2006.

It’s rare for a defendant in a criminal trial to release an interview during the course of the trial, and a source close to the situation says that Weinstein’s attorneys were not aware of the project...

‘Jeopardy!’ Fans React to Axed Host’s New Job at Right-Wing Media Company
Image
Veteran TV producer Mike Richards, who briefly took over as Jeopardy! host following the passing of Alex Trebek before being unceremoniously dumped, has landed a new gig. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Richards has been hired as the president and chief content officer of Daily Wire entertainment, the right-wing conservative media company founded by political commentator Ben Shapiro. He replaces Jeremy Boreing, who stepped down as CEO back in March. “We knew the answer was, ‘Who is Mike Richards?’ And now we can say ‘he’s an integral part of The Daily Wire’ was the question,” Gloria Taylor, a rep for The Daily Wire, told the outlet. “He’s won 5 Emmy’s, produced over 4,000 hours of network programming, and run some of the most iconic shows the world has ever known. Thank you to the purple hairs. Please ‘cancel’ more creative geniuses.” From 2009 to 2019, Richards served as the executive...

Former ‘Jeopardy!’ Exec Mike Richards to Join Ben Shapiro at The Daily Wire as President
Image
Mike Richards, the veteran TV producer who briefly succeeded Alex Trebek as the host of the quiz show Jeopardy!, has landed a big job in conservative media.

Richards has joined The Daily Wire as its next president of Daily Wire entertainment and chief content officer, leading all the entertainment operations of the conservative media company founded by Ben Shapiro.

Richards joins after the exit of Jeremy Boreing, who stepped down as CEO of the company back in March, and is expected to work out of its Nashville headquarters.

Caleb Robinson succeeded Boreing as CEO of the company.

His hire suggests that The Daily Wire will continue its ambitions beyond politics and news commentary, though it may scale back some of the efforts Boreing championed, which included a non-figure investment into children’s programming, and big budget bets like The Pendragon Cycle.

“We knew the answer was, ‘Who is Mike Richards?...

Even Maga Republicans Are Torching Trump for Accepting Jet From Qatar
Image
It’s getting increasingly difficult for Republicans and even the Maga faithful to defend Donald Trump’s unconstitutional or otherwise misguided actions as president. In the case of Trump accepting a $400 million luxury jet from Qatar, they aren’t even trying — and some of them, including some of the president’s most loyal defenders, are going out of their way to bash the brazenly corrupt act.

Laura Loomer, the far-right conspiracy theorist and diehard Trump supporter (and adviser), was quick to respond to the news on Sunday that the administration...

What, Like It’s Hard? Yes, Being a Harvard Student Has Been Difficult Lately, Thanks for Asking

It has been 19 days, four hours, seven minutes, and 33 seconds since Harvard University leapfrogged Rosie O’Donnell to become Donald Trump’s most hated American institution. On April 11, the White House sent a letter to Harvard’s administration detailing the hoops that the university must jump through to retain what Trump is calling “hundreds and hundreds and hundreds and hundreds and hundreds” of dollars of federal funding — a figure others are calling “billions.”

The Rachel Zegler Snow White Controversy Explained
Image
"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" originates from the gruesome fairy tales by Giambattista Basile and the Brothers Grimm, which are bloody, nightmarish stories that most parents wouldn't read to their children. Since then, "Snow White" has inspired everything from horror flicks to erotic films, further adding to its legacy as a twisted story at heart.

However, thanks to Disney reimagining the once-brutal narrative as a more wholesome story, "Snow White" is now regarded as a family-friendly fantasy about a princess, her loyal dwarf companions, and a handsome prince who steals her heart. Well, that's how it used to be perceived, as the House of Mouse's live-action "Snow White" remake, starring Rachel Zegler as the titular princess, is even more controversial than the story's horrifying roots.

2025's "Snow White" is a passable live-action retelling that updates the story for modern times, but the film's myriad of scandals have turned it...

How a Little-Known Movie About Trump’s Football Fiasco Explains His Tariff Tantrums
Image
A national money-generating enterprise filled with energy and ideas that had defied the naysayers.

The arrival of a brash leader who thinks he has all the answers and makes bold and unilateral changes.

A rapid collapse that leaves all the principals in disbelief at how one man ruined everything.

The U.S. economic miracle of the past few years as undermined by Donald Trump? No, the Usfl football miracle of the 1980s as undermined by Donald Trump.

Long before tariffs was a word everyday Americans dropped casually, Trump was bulldozing in with another idea that had experts and insiders who never agree on anything shaking their heads. The story is told in 2009’s Small Potatoes: Who Killed the Usfl?, an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary about an upstart league that had been humming along until Trump arrived as owner and thought he knew better. (He didn’t.)

James Gunn is Against Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill’s Biggest Mistake as Superman: “You do not let anyone die”
Image
James Gunn took over the reins of Superman from Zack Snyder after the latter’s tenure with DC ended with Justice League. Gunn moved over from the MCU to head the newly formed DC Studios along with his creative partner Peter Safran to craft a compelling interconnected DC universe. The shared franchise is set to begin on the big screen with Gunn’s Superman.

The upcoming film will be the first solo film on the Kryptonian superhero since 2013’s Man of Steel by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill. The Dceu’s iteration of Kal-El has been divisive, for lack of a kinder term, and though Cavill has been accepted as Superman, Snyder’s take only has a few takers. Gunn also seemed to throw shade at his iteration.

James Gunn’s Superman “Sucks”: Ben Shapiro’s Take on David Corenswet Is So Bad Even Henry Cavill Fans Can’t Support Him
Image
Ben Shapiro is never happy with anything. At least some of his hardcore followers have begun to feel the same about the conservative commentator. The latest in the long list of things he hates is James Gunn’s yet-to-be-released Superman movie. He watched the recently released preview and expressed his disappointment as a lifelong fan of the “Superman brand”.

Shapiro shared that he wasn’t the biggest fan of Gunn and added that he hated the ridiculous humor in Guardians of the Galaxy. Shapiro’s meh reaction to the blockbuster trilogy is itself a telling sign that he isn’t exactly going to fall in love with the David Corenswet-starrer.

Bill Burr Wore Pink on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ Just to Trigger Anti-Woke Trolls
Image
Conservative culture warriors spent the beginning of 2025 trying to convince the internet that legendary rant comedian Bill Burr is the face of wokeness in humor, so why wouldn’t he wear an outfit that matches his new image?

For years, angry, middle-aged, balding white guys who punch holes in their own walls every time Disney casts a Black person in a kids’ movie mistakenly believed that Burr must think exactly like them, given that he’s the closest thing to a celebrity doppelganger they’ll ever have. This is because angry, anti-woke right-wingers weren’t actually listening to what Burr has been saying about topics such as racial inequality and economic exploitation since the 1990s, probably because the constant, thunderous pumping of blood in their ears drowned out the sound of Burr’s routine.

When Burr took up the causes of defending accused CEO shooter Luigi Mangione and attacking exploitative...

Russell Brand Responds To Rape & Sexual Assault Charges: “The Law Has Become A Weapon”
Image
Russell Brand has said he is “incredibly grateful” that his day in court is coming after being charged with rape and sexual assault by UK authorities.

The one-time Forgetting Sarah Marshall star said he was a “drug addict, sex addict and an imbecile” during his youth, but he was never a rapist.

“I’ve never engaged in non-consensual activity. I pray that you can see that by looking in my eyes,” he told his social media followers on Friday in a short video while wearing a straw hat.

It follows London’s Metropolitan Police charging Brand with one count of rape, one count of indecent assault, one count of oral rape, and two counts of sexual assault. The charges relate to four separate women between 1999 and 2005. He has been summoned to Westminster Magistrates’ Court on May 2.

He has consistently denied wrongdoing, describing the original sexual assault allegations as “baroque attacks...

BBC Marking Five Years Since George Floyd’s Death With Feature Doc
Image
Exclusive: The BBC and Dartmouth Films are marking five years since the death of George Floyd with a feature doc that will be given a theatrical release.

Backlash: The Murder of George Floyd [working title] will feature interviews with members of Floyd’s family, Chief Medaria Arradondo, the Minneapolis Police Chief who took the bold step of testifying against one of his own officers, and then-UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s closest advisor on race Samuel Kasumu.

The doc comes five years after Floyd was murdered by a white police officer, which was the catalyst for the Black Lives Matter protests of summer 2020.

At a time when diversity initiatives in the U.S. are being scrapped by President Trump’s decree, and Elon Musk is retweeting Ben Shapiro’s call for the police officer who murdered Floyd to be pardoned, the film explores how Floyd’s death became one of the...

Dan Stevens's 'Zero Day' Character Inspired By Tucker Carlson, Ben Shapiro
Image
Dan Stevens, the star of films like The Guest, Beauty and the Beast and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, recently appeared in the new political thriller series, Zero Day. In the miniseries starring Robert De Niro, Stevens plays Evan Green, an alternative-media personality who capitalizes on a major terrorist attack and speaks out loud against the government on YouTube. Yes, Green is a fictional version of every loudmouth who makes money in today's digital landscape by criticizing political leaders and creating conspiracy theories out of nothing.

It's not exactly a secret that the character is inspired by a real cultural phenomenon, and Stevens fully agrees with that. In Netflix's Zero Day, the United States faces an unprecedented cyberattack. There are thousands of casualties, and the government forms a commission that will help in finding some answers to prevent another major attack. As former President George Mullen leads the...

Candace Owens’ Latest Crusade: Exonerating Harvey Weinstein
Image
Candace Owens, the far-right commentator and YouTuber who in recent months has juiced her already sizable online following by zealously defending Justin Baldoni in his It Ends With Us legal battle with Blake Lively, revealed in a Feb. 27 livestream that her next project will be attempting to exonerate Harvey Weinstein in the court of public opinion ahead of his April 15 retrial in New York on rape charges.

She explained she’s been talking with the imprisoned producer by telephone since early 2022, recording interviews since his second conviction in Los Angeles, also for rape and other sexual misconduct. Her takeaway: While he’s “an immoral man,” he’s also a victim of the justice system. Owens, a longtime and persistent critic of the #MeToo movement, of which the Weinstein saga served as the watershed, noted that “I’ve always had faith in our court system and now that’s beginning to change.

‘Bill Burr: Drop Dead Years’: New Comedy Special Featuring Today’s Harshest Comedic Critic On Billionaires & Inequality Premieres March 14

Comedian Bill Burr has been in the news quite a bit this week. Right-wing commentator Ben Shapiro was accused of being “woke”—the catch-all term for things I don’t like from the right—and an “asshole” because of his comments about health care.

“I don’t know who he is, but that guy is a jerk off,” Burr shot back in a recent interview with The New York Times this week, dismissing Shapiro’s criticism as nothing more than clicks for cash.

Even the Trailer for Bill Burr’s New Hulu Special Is Laughably Un-Woke
Image
Despite what any conservative comedian, cultural commentator or podcaster may think, there’s really nothing particularly “woke” about chaining your wife to a radiator.

Over the last year or so, the greater comedy community has seen a bizarre shift in sentiment toward one of the stand-up industry’s brightest stars and most respected voices. According to the likes of Andrew Schulz and Ben Shapiro, Bill Burr, who made a career mocking such sensitive topics as women, political correctness, male feminists, Hillary Clinton and women, is now the ideological equal to the most bespectacled, blue-haired, bleeding-hearted, gender-non-conforming sophomore at Sarah Lawrence College.

Following Burr’s recent explosive rant about how America needs to “put down” all the “rabid dog” billionaires who are sowing division while robbing the middle and working classes blind, the conservative side of the comedy culture war judged the Monday Morning Podcast host to be the “wokest of the woke” comedians.

Bill Burr Says Ben Shapiro Only Called Him ‘Woke’ Because Buzzwords Make Money
Image
Ben Shapiro publicly declared that Bill Burr is “woke,” an “asshole" and “both a moral and an economic idiot.”

To which Burr replied, “Who are you?”

Earlier this month, Burr inadvertently made himself the main character of the conservative media cycle when he went on his latest of many righteous rants about the state of income inequality in America during an episode of The Monday Morning Podcast. While responding to a write-in from a fan who, as a single mother, is struggling to make ends meet, Burr blamed “rabid dog” billionaires for the fact that the richest country in the world has so many hard-working citizens living in poverty, and he angrily suggested that such robber barons “need to be put down.”

Clearly, a certain conservative social media pundit was jealous of the attention Burr was getting from right-wing circles, and Shapiro launched an all-out attack against the comic on Facebook,...

Ben Shapiro Called Bill Burr ‘Woke’ After Comedian Lashed Out at CEOs as ‘Selfish, Greedy Pieces of S—.’ Burr Now Responds: ‘That Guy Is a Jerk-Off’
Image
Bill Burr recently spoke to The New York Times and shrugged off Ben Shapiro’s criticism of him. The conservative political commentator and Daily Wire co-founder called out Burr in December for “going woke” after the comedian lashed out at “selfish” and “greedy” CEOs in the wake of the murder of UnitedHealthcare chief executive Brian Thompson.

“All he knew is if he put ‘woke’ on what I said, he would make more money,” Burr now said of Shapiro’s claim. “I don’t know who he is, but that guy is a jerk-off.”

While Burr did not support Thompson’s killing, he observed on an episode of his “Monday Morning Podcast” in December that news organizations were not taking note of “the incredible lack of empathy from the general public about this because of how these insurance companies treat people when they at their most vulnerable, after we’ve all...

Bill Burr Says Twitter Flagged His Account After He Mocked Elon Musk’s ‘Heart-Sending Gesture’
Image
Bill Burr told his fans that Elon Musk is both a “fuckin’ baby” and “just like Hitler,” but I’d like to see him say that to Musk’s face — mostly because he’ll get banned if he tweets it.

Musk gets a lot of flak for platforming Nazi propaganda, making Nazi Salutes at political events and attempting a hostile, fascistic takeover of the federal government, but according to the legendary rant comedian Burr, all the constant online criticism of Musk isn’t nearly enough. Earlier this month, Burr went viral for angrily suggesting that the “rabid dog” billionaires who orchestrate all the division and inequality in America need to be “put down,” ruffling the feathers of Ben Shapiro and the pro-billionaire media who objected to such a general condemnation of the most successful members of our society. Well, the very next week, Burr got more specific.

Dan Stevens Insists His ‘Zero Day’ Character Isn’t Based on Tucker Carlson and Details Going ‘Face-to-Face’ With Robert De Niro: ‘It Was the Perfect Dynamic’
Image
In Netflix’s new political thriller series “Zero Day,” Dan Stevens plays Evan Green, a brash, outspoken internet star who becomes enmeshed in a White House investigation into a global cyber attack.

Robert De Niro stars as George Mullen, a former U.S. president who comes out of retirement to lead the investigation. In one scene, De Niro and Stevens are practically nose-to-nose as Mullen interrogates Green. “It was the perfect dynamic really because there’s this character who is suddenly face-to-face with Robert De Niro, face-to-face with Mullen, face-to-face with this giant figure that’s sort of been looming over the story, it was kind of thrilling,” Stevens tells me on the new episode of the “Just for Variety” podcast. “But it is sort of the perfect encounter that you could imagine within it. Rather than having to be all sort of cozy and chummy with him, it was like,...

Right-Wingers Really Didn’t Like Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show
Image
The Super Bowl halftime show has changed a lot since the late 1960s, when college marching bands took to the field for mid-game entertainment. But in recent years, one element of the show has been remarkably consistent: right-wing chuds protesting that the Black superstars performing are dull, untalented, or somehow not reflective of the American values befitting an NFL championship showdown.

At Sunday night’s Super Bowl Lix in New Orleans, where the Philadelphia Eagles thrashed the Kansas City Chiefs, it was Kendrick Lamar — coming off five Grammy wins — who...

Hollywood Is Now Ready to Work With Trump: ‘You Didn’t Hear Biden Talking About How to Help Us’
Image
The night before Donald Trump returned to the White House, one of the splashiest inauguration week bashes was kicking off at D.C. hot spot Sax Restaurant & Lounge. Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flame performed, while conservative VIPs Ben Shapiro, comedian Terrence K. Williams and “Am I Racist?” star Matt Walsh were honored as a crowd of 600 partied until the wee hours.

While the guest list was apropos for a Trump 2.0 celebration, some might be shocked by who sponsored and shelled out $75,000 for the event: none other than TikTok, which signed on to host in November. This marked a stark shift from 2017, when Trump was persona non grata among mainstream media companies.

“It was kind of happenstance that the party ended up being on the same day that they were scheduled to go dark,” says Cj Pearson, co-chair of the GOP Youth Advisory Council and a co-host of the party.

Spotify Hosts Trump Inauguration Brunch
Image
Spotify held a brunch celebrating “the power of podcasts in this election” on Sunday (January 19th) — one day before Donald Trump’s second presidential inauguration.

Joe Rogan was previously reported to be featured at the event but was not in attendance. Per Bloomberg, however, his presence was still felt when Spotify’s chief public affairs officer Dustee Jenkins said Rogan’s interview with Trump was the platform’s most listened-to episode by a “long shot.”

Instead, Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro and conservative YouTube provocateur Tim Pool were among the biggest names there. Naturally, Shapiro recorded a live episode of his podcast at the brunch.

In a statement issued to Bloomberg, Spotify said the brunch was “business as usual.” The company added, “Spotify has long hosted events in Washington D.C, and other capitals worldwide, bringing together political leaders, media figures, and industry peers from across the political spectrum.”

“She had her b*obs on display”: Megyn Kelly Doesn’t Blame Mark Zuckerberg for His Viral Moment With Jeff Bezos’ Fiancé Lauren Sanchez
Image
Ever caught someone’s eyes lingering a little too long, and you just know they’re not looking at your shoes? Sometimes, a single glance can stir more commotion than an entire speech. That’s exactly what happened at Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20, where a brief, unassuming look from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg became the talk of social media.

The star of this unintentional viral moment? Jeff Bezos’ fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, stole the spotlight in a jaw-dropping Alexander McQueen outfit that made more headlines than any of the event’s speeches.

It all happened during the 47th President’s swearing-in ceremony, where several political heavyweights and business moguls gathered in Washington, D.C. The internet erupted as Zuckerberg’s eyes seemed to lock onto Sanchez’s plunging neckline. But amidst the uproar,...

“He’s going full Johnny Depp on her”: Blake Lively Will Struggle to Get Job in Hollywood, Megyn Kelly’s Prediction for Justin Baldoni’s Lawsuit
Image
Hollywood is no stranger to juicy drama, but what’s going down between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni is shaping up to be something straight out of a tabloid’s wildest dreams. It’s the kind of showdown where stars aren’t just squabbling over who gets the best dressing room; they’re fighting tooth and nail, taking legal action and airing dirty laundry for all to see. For those who thought the Hollywood elite lived a charmed life, think again!

Blake Lively in It Ends with Us | Credits: Sony Pictures Releasing

On January 16, Baldoni filed a bombshell lawsuit worth $400 million against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, their publicist Leslie Sloane, and her PR firm Vision PR, Inc. The suit stems from events behind the scenes of their film It Ends with Us, and it’s clear that no one is going down without a fight.

Lively is now being...

These Influencers Helped Get Trump Elected. Now They’re Ready to Party
Image
It’s Sunday night and Lance Johnston, a 23-year-old content creator, is smiling and posing in front of a giant TikTok logo. Johnston was one of the first political content creators on the app in its early days, and amassed a six-figure following in 2020 by posting conservative commentary. After his videos ran afoul of TikTok’s community guidelines, however, he was banned and forced to pursue another career. “Every person I knew on political TikTok got banned,” he says. “It was very upsetting.”

Now, however, he’s back and creating content full-time again.

Conservative Documentary ‘Am I Racist?’ Snubbed By Oscar Doc Voters, Despite Claiming Box Office Crown
Image
Am I Racist?, the controversial documentary that satirizes Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives, failed to make the Oscar shortlist of nonfiction features today, despite earning more money at the box office than any other documentary this year, by far.

The film directed by Justin Folk features conservative author and podcaster Matt Walsh going undercover to infiltrate Dei seminars, dinners and the like. It scooped up more than $12 million at the domestic box office, but that wasn’t enough to sway the minds of Academy Documentary Branch members, who determine the shortlist (as well as the eventual five Oscar nominees).

Film participant Amanda Zurawksi and executive producer Hilary Clinton speak after the world premiere of ‘Zurawski v Texas’ at Telluride Film Festival

It may come as cold comfort to the Am I Racist? team, but films with an overt take on American politics were all spurned by the doc branch. Those include Zurawaski v Texas,...

Disney Got Its Groove Back With ‘Moana 2,’ but Troubled ‘Snow White’ Could Halt the Momentum
Image
When Bob Iger returned to the Disney CEO throne at the end of 2022, his first order of business was to dismantle a structure that saw the studio’s distribution and creative divisions operating separately. Instead, he put distribution and marketing under the control of Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman. One year later, Iger made clear that Disney would stay far away from the culture wars that had taken a toll on the company’s stock price amid a revolt from conservative consumers. “Creators lost sight of what their No. 1 objective needed to be,” he said at the DealBook Summit. “We have to entertain first. It’s not about messages.”

Fast-forward to 2024, and “Moana 2” marks the fulfilment of those two adjustments — a movie able to pivot from its planned release on Disney+ and escape the wrath of right-wing influencers who believe the studio had been pushing a “woke” ideology, a...

PewDiePie Says Joe Rogan Is 'Actually, Respectfully, Very Dumb'
Image
The original king of YouTubers, PewDiePie, has been markedly quieter in recent years, but he just popped up after watching some Joe Rogan, and the Swedish vlogger was quite unimpressed.

Joe's career trajectory took him from stand-up comedy to hosting the reality TV show Fear Factor, and then to his now-massively influential podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.

PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, eventually ceded the title of top YouTuber, first to T-Series, and then to MrBeast.

Like Joe Rogan, Felix is no stranger to controversy, and he was accused of harboring white nationalist beliefs after a mass shooter in New Zealand mentioned his channel by name in the commission of that horrendous act.

A 2019 New York Times profile of PewDiePie noted that he "described the New Zealand shooting as a major turning point in his life" and as a traumatic shock, and in the piece, Felix seemed sincerely...

Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 Brings a Special Co-Op Mode

‘Snow White’ Star Rachel Zegler Apologizes For Saying Trump Victory Shows ‘Deep, Deep Sickness,’ Megyn Kelly Calls Her ‘A Pig’
Image
On Thursday, the star of Disney’s live-action Snow White, Rachel Zegler, was forced to apologize for her comments on the results of the 2024 election.

Following the news that Donald Trump had won the election, Zegler posted a statement on Instagram in which she wrote, “May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace. There is a deep, deep sickness in this country.” She lamented, “another four years of hatred, leaning us towards a world I do not want to live in.”

In response to her comments, Maga supporters were outraged and called for boycotts of the film. Conservative media personality Megyn Kelly called Zegler “a pig,” declared there to be “something wrong with this person” and insisted Disney reshoot their film with a new lead.

Matt Walsh Is a Hypocrite for Submitting ‘Am I Racist?’ to the Oscars — Why Are Right-Wingers Seeking ‘Liberal’ Validation?
Image
In a twist as predictable as a Hollywood sequel, conservative media and alt-right commentators have made it their mission to ridicule the entertainment industry’s awards circuit. It’s an annual ritual from the Oscars to the Emmys and the Grammys: commentators use YouTube, podcasts and op-eds to denounce Hollywood as a “cesspool of liberalism” and a “bubble of elite self-congratulation.” Yet here’s the irony — many of these same voices, who openly deride the industry, quickly seek its validation when they enter its arena.

Case in point: conservative media company The Daily Wire recently submitted the satirical documentary “Am I Racist?” featuring Matt Walsh, an anti-transgender commentator, for Oscar consideration (Oh my God! Can you imagine “Emilia Perez” star Karla Sofía Gascón being forced to share the same air as him?). While some observers see this as a “troll” move, Walsh insists otherwise. On X (formerly Twitter), he stated,...

Where Did Election Night TV Viewers Disappear To? New Data Suggests They Flocked to YouTube
Image
Election night 2024 saw its TV ratings fall sharply compared to 2020, but new data suggests that tens of millions of Americans were still tuning in … they were just watching on YouTube.

The Google-owned video platform said Thursday that more than 45 million people in the U.S. watched election-related content on Tuesday, Nov. 5. That is an enormous number, and while obviously not everyone was watching live videos in primetime, it suggests that tens of millions of people were nonetheless turning to YouTube for election-relayed information.

For comparison, Nielsen said that an average of 42.29 million viewers tuned in across 18 cable and broadcast networks from 7-11 p.m. Et. The YouTube data is not an exact comparison, but still shows a scale that is only matched by traditional TV.

When it comes to election livestreams, YouTube said that the most-watched stream was from Fox News, which peaked at more than one million concurrent...

Ben Shapiro Says Bill Burr Was A ‘F*cking A**hole’ on Bill Maher’s Podcast
Image
Ben Shapiro, ever the polite podcast guest, made sure to ask Bill Maher’s permission before kicking his friends in the crotch. “Am I allowed to shit on the other guests you’ve had on the show or not?” he asked demurely.

Impressed by the good show of manners, Maher told Shapiro of course, please fire away, good sir. Shapiro got right to the point: “Bill Burr was a fucking asshole on this show.”

“That was so long ago!” said Maher of Burr’s appearance less than six months ago.

“It pissed me off. Really, it was quite terrible,” pouted Shapiro. “That one’s been in my craw for a while.”

It didn’t make much of a dent in Maher’s psyche, who claims he doesn’t remember anything particularly objectionable. “Bill and I have a great relationship. It’s not what I call a loving relationship, but we...

Jubilee Is Making America Debate Again: How YouTube Hit ‘Surrounded’ Landed Pete Buttigieg and Ben Shapiro — and Why Its CEO Wants to Get In On the 2028 Election
Image
Last week, Pete Buttigieg sat in a studio in Michigan, surrounded by 25 undecided voters who rushed, musical chairs style, to sit across a table from him and debate his positions on Kamala Harris and Donald Trump’s policies. Those on the perimeter raised red flags when they felt each debate had run its course.

It wasn’t a town hall or a cable news panel, and it didn’t air on CNN, Fox or MSNBC. Actually, the encounter didn’t air on television at all. Rather, it was the sixth episode of hit YouTube series “Surrounded,” from Jubilee Media, the independent L.A. production company behind other social experiments like “Middle Ground” and “Swipe or Swap.”

With episode titles like “Can 1 Woke Teen Survive 20 Trump Supporters?” and “Can 25 Liberal College Students Outsmart 1 Conservative?,” the series has gone viral since its September debut, racking up more than 50 million views on YouTube and dominating social media feeds.

YouTube lets creators lie about election outcomes. It’s making money off their videos.
Image
In June 2023, YouTube made the baffling decision to reverse its ban on election misinformation and start allowing people to spread lies about the outcome of the 2020 presidential race. Since then, surprising no one, the platform has become a megaphone for far-right conspiracy theorists to crow about how Donald Trump was robbed of his rightful re-election, according to a new report from The New York Times.

YouTube’s reasoning for allowing people to claim the 2020 election was rigged in favor of Democrats was, “we find that while removing this content does curb some misinformation, it could also have the unintended effect of curtailing political speech without meaningfully reducing the risk of violence or other real-world harm.”

“The ability to openly debate political ideas, even those that are controversial or based on disproven assumptions, is core to a functioning democratic society–especially in the midst of election season,” it said.
