'I Haven't Gotten Any Calls': New One-Punch Man Season 3 Update Spells Bad News for Anime Fans
Image
Only three months remain before the scheduled release of One-Punch Man Season 3. Unfortunately, a recent video update from One-Punch Man anime star Kyle Herbert has renewed fan concerns about the series' overall production status.

Herbert, who plays Atomic Samurai in One-Punch Man's English dub, revealed in a livestream that he has not yet been contacted about recording dialogue for the upcoming season. "Honestly, I haven't gotten any calls about it," he stated. "I don't know when it's happening." In the wake of One-Punch Man's underwhelming industry panel at Anime Expo 2025, some are now anticipating a delayed release for One-Punch Man English dub. Shortly after the livestream, an X (formerly Twitter) user called @OPMHypeGuy shared Herbert's update with their followers. Within four days of its posting, the video received over 16.3k views on the platform.

‘Dan Da Dan’ Season 2 Already Hinted at One of Its Biggest Villains and You Didn’t Even Notice
Image
Season 2 of DanDaDan premiered just a few days ago, and there's already a lot to unpack. Between Jiji's (voiced by Kaito Ishikawa in the original Japanese and by Aleks Le in the English dub) haunted house, Momo's (Shion Wakayama/Abby Trott) terrible experience in a hot spring, and Okarun's (Natsuki Hanae/A.J. Beckles) newfound rivalry, the debut episode came packed with new info — but one element might have flown past you. The premiere episode, titled "Like, This Is the Legend of the Giant Snake," included a reference to a major villain of the franchise. But fans who only watch the anime series probably didn't spot it.

The reason why the reference might have gone unnoticed by most fans is because it's related to a character wiho hasn't even been introduced yet. In the manga series created by Yukinobu Tatsu, one of the villains from the later arcs is someone called Count Saint-Germain,...

Today's a Sad Day for One-Punch Man Fans
Image
One-Punch Man fans endured a major letdown at this year's Anime Expo. Despite the series still officially set to release in roughly three months with Season 3, the anime's highly anticipated panel event this weekend ended without a new trailer drop or a release date.

On July 5, Anime Expo's "Saitama is Back!" One-Punch Man panel was held at the Jw Marriott Diamond Ballroom of the Los Angeles Convention Center. At this event, several members of the anime's official voice cast -- including Saitama Va Makoto Furukawa -- discussed various details about the upcoming season. While the cast confirmed that they are currently recording dialogue for Season 3, no new footage or staff details were revealed. This disappointing turn of events has been interpreted by some fans as a grave omen for the anime's future.

This 97% Rotten Tomatoes Anime Movie Just Earned a Spot on a Major Box Office List
Image
Last week, the box office numbers indicated that DanDaDan was close to a threshold. Now, with the compilation movie DanDaDan: Evil Eye debuting in more countries, the franchise has broken new records and continues to make history in domestic earnings. The new movie wrapped up the weekend with $5.5 million earned in the U.S., making it officially five times more profitable than the franchise's previous movie, DanDaDan: First Encounter.

With the new number, DanDaDan: Evil Eye also managed to fly past one of the highest-ratedMy Hero Academia movies. Last year, My Hero Academia: You're Next was able to make $5 million domestically, and now that DanDaDan: Evil Eye surpassed it, the franchise already ranks among the 25 highest-earning Japanese anime movies ever in the U.S. If it manages to bring in more than 6.8 million, DanDaDan will eliminate legendary titles like Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke from the list.

The number is...

New ‘Dan Da Dan’ Movie ‘Evil Eye’ Debuts With Impressive Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score
Image
In less than a month, Dan Da Dan returns with another extraordinary season, half a year after impressing fans with its massive Season 1 finale, "Let's Go to the Cursed House." While fans eagerly await the new chapter, another Dan Da Dan production that everyone can’t stop talking about, appears to be doing as good as the original anime series. It's none other than Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye! The filmlanded in North America on Friday, June 6, and most recently, it has earned a laudable feat on Rotten Tomatoes, finding favor among the audience soon after its release.

Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye currently boasts a 97% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is slightly higher than Dan Da Dan’s 93% but a few numbers away from the original series' 100% critics’ score. It should, however, be noted that, as of this writing, the anime film's critics’ rating is unavailable on the review aggregator website.

Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye Review: More Than a Monster Mash
Image
Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye continues the adventures of its central pair with an almost aggressive refusal to slow down. The story operates with a particular brand of genre-blender whiplash that feels unnervingly appropriate for our times.

We are reintroduced to Momo Ayase, the spirit medium, and Okarun, her compatriot cursed with alien abilities, characters who treat paranormal catastrophe as a slightly inconvenient after-school activity. Their dynamic remains a chaotic ballet of adolescent awkwardness and world-saving necessity.

Into this mix comes the next stage of the plot, centered on their friend Jiji. The mission seems straightforward enough for their line of work: travel to Jiji’s sleepy hometown, famous for its hot springs, and exorcise whatever is ailing his parents. But the film quickly signals that a simple haunted house is the least of their concerns.

A deep-seated local legend about a sacrificial serpent, a town that is just a little too quiet,...

10 Anime That Are Way Better When You Know Japanese Culture
Image
Anime often serves as a vibrant window into Japanese culture, offering more than just entertainment — it reflects centuries-old traditions, values and societal norms. Despite being unfairly overlooked by the Academy, Shinkai’s 2016 film Your Name has been considered to be one of the best animated films of the century, ranking at number 83 on IMDb’s Top 250. It's a visual and thematic masterpiece of animation, which is why it’s so shocking that J.J. Abrams is currently feeling the need to remake it in live-action for American audiences. 10 "Unlikeable" Shonen Anime Protagonists Who Don't Deserve the Hate
Image
Shōnen anime often has the most hit-or-miss main characters out of any genre. More often than not, shōnen anime protagonists are more naïve and energetic to represent their desired target audience. However, characters that break away from this mold are often labeled as boring, like Ichigo Kurasaki. Yet, many of these disliked individuals are undeserving of the hate they receive.

Many of shōnen anime's various protagonists are often held to unfair standards because of their popular predecessors. The anime genre's main characters constantly suffer from being consistently compared to one another, like Shinra Kusakabe. He is often described as an amalgamation of other protagonists' personalities. Several of shōnen anime's most iconic protagonists are equally disliked, but this hate is mostly unjustified.

10 Anime Transformations That Changed the Industry for Good
Image
Anime transformations are a staple of the genre. They're one of the best ways of signaling that a character has undergone a physical, mental, or spiritual transformation, telling the audience that a whole new version of them is set to hit the scene. Some of the best transformations are power-ups, giving a character the strength they need to take down an otherwise unbeatable enemy. While there has been hundreds of anime transformations over the years, only some of them are good enough to change the entire industry.

Some series, like Dragon Ball Z, are known for their transformations. Dbz has dozens of different forms and power boosts, but that doesn't necessarily make them good enough to change the industry at large. Only a few transformations in anime are so powerful that they've changed the way people look at transformations as a whole.

The 15 Most Overpowered Isekai Anime Protagonists, Ranked
Image
Isekai is one of the most in-demand and heavily populated anime genres of all time. The genre has given everything to the audience, from turning its protagonists into literal vending machines to reincarnating them as a sword or a spider. No matter how wacky the premise may be, isekai anime somehow manages to become the highlight of every season. Besides turning characters into unconventional beings and objects, one of the most popular trends in the genre is the existence of an overpowered main character.

Protagonists with almost non-existent lives and goals in their real world often get transported or reincarnated into a fantasy world where they are the strongest, which is an obvious yet very much loved isekai cliché. MCs who are incredibly strong either change the fate of that said world or become so bored with their superiority that they decide to descend into a quiet life. From being...
