Warrior Season 3 Is Suffering Without the Mercer Sisters
Image
The following contains spoilers for Warrior Season 3, Episode 4, "In Chinatown, No One Thinks About Forever," which debuted July 6 on Max.

Warrior Season 3 keeps painting a harrowing picture of San Francisco's history. It continues the journey of Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji) in the late 1800s, as he helps lead the Hop Wei Tong. Unfortunately, there's a rising white nationalist movement, with Mayor Buckley using the Asian faction as pawns. Leary is also trying to get them killed so that more jobs would come the way of the Irish.

Interestingly, the series has made a huge couple of changes to the narrative. This comes with the absence of the Mercer sisters, who were instrumental in Ah Sahm's story, as well as the race war unfolding. Unfortunately, they're characters upon which key arcs have been pivoted, leaving the plot suffering with their omission.

Warrior Season 2 Episode 1 Review: Learn to Endure, or Hire a Bodyguard

This Warrior review contains spoilers.

Warrior Season 2 Episode 1

Now that the Warrior world is established, the season 2 premiere concerns itself with more character development and the interweaving of story arcs. The action, however, is even more promising as the season premiere opens with (what else?) a fight scene.

When we rejoin Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji), he’s getting beaten and bloodied again, locked in combat in a new no-holds-barred arena, the Barbary Coast Fight Pit, and flashing back to his brutal defeat by at the hands of Li Yong (Joe Taslim) last season. It’s a decent fight scene that shows off Koji’s intensity. His manager (and new cast addition), Rosalita Vega (Maria-Elena Laas) senses that he’s working out some issues since Ah Sahm is back with the Hop Wei and doesn’t need to earn money in the pit. He’s got something to prove and it...

Warrior Season 2 Trailer, Cast, News, and Everything You Need to Know
Joseph Baxter Jun 20, 2019

Cinemax has quickly ordered a second season of its period piece action drama, Warrior, which is based on the writings of Bruce Lee.

Warrior Season 2 is officially set at Cinemax!

It didn’t take long for the premium cable outlet to renew the action-packed crime series, which premiered on April 5. Indeed, Warrior, the creation of Jonathan Tropper, who co-created the channel’s 2013-2016 crime drama, Banshee, came to the table with proper familial blessing to brandish the name of Bruce Lee, whose handwritten story notes – provided by daughter Shannon – served as the show’s basis. The result has been a genre-blending series that combines classic chopsocky action with a dramatically poignant peak television flair.

As Len Amato, president, HBO Films, Miniseries and Cinemax Programming, lauds in a statement:

“Bruce Lee’s vision is alive and well. Warrior combines high-energy martial arts with wit and brains. We’re...
