The CW's Gotham Knights Asks: Who Killed Batman? — Grade the Premiere
Image
The CW’s Gotham Knights wasted no time throwing us into a shocking mystery, one that will see the scions of Batman’s most notorious foes — and no less than Bruce Wayne’s adopted son — attempt to clear their names.

The non-Arrowverse series’ premiere opens with a brooding Turner Hayes (played by Oscar Morgan) mid-monologue; as Bruce Wayne’s adopted son, he’s seemingly got all he could ever want. Except, as he phrases it, “a reason why.”

Gotham Knights Video Teases Deep Mystery Surrounding Batman's Murder
Image
Batman's murder becomes the center point in a new Gotham Knights video featurette. Despite winding down on the DC TV brand, The CW is keeping the tradition alive with a new superhero drama on its way. For 2023, the network is bringing Gotham Knights to the programming slate, based in the world of Batman. Despite having the same name, Gotham Knights is not based on the video game that was released in 2022. While stemming from the Batwoman writers and producers, this is not a spinoff series, nor does it tie to any other Arrowverse show. The CW is officially premiering Gotham Knights on Tuesday, March 14 at 9Pm right after the Superman & Lois season 3 premiere.

While Gotham Knights season 1 is still a few months away, a new video featurette has emerged for the DC TV series. Shared through the Gotham Knights Updates account on Twitter, the featurette gives a new look...

Misha Collins' Two-Face Prosthetics Teased In Gotham Knights BTS Video
Image
Behind-the-scenes footage from Gotham Knights teases the transformation of Misha Collins into the villainous Two Face. Gotham Knights is a new CW show that follows the aftermath of the murder of Batman (David Alexander Miller) and the effect that it has on the lives of all those in Gotham City, especially the Dark Knight's adoptive son. With the show's trailer having been released shortly after the announcement that Batwoman season 3 was canceled, Gotham Knights has faced sharp criticism, but the show is increasing its marketing efforts once again.

Collins, who earned acclaim in his long-time performance as Castiel in Supernatural, has been incredibly excited about his upcoming Gotham Knights role as Harvey Dent thanks to just how different it is after years as the relatively good-hearted Castiel. The actor released a New Years update showing the make-up work that goes into turning him into a scarred villain with a half-burned face.

“Star Light” Offers Some B-Movie Fun
Scout Taylor-Compton, Bret Roberts, Hagen Mills, Rahart Adams, Liana Ramirez, Garrett Westton, Cameron Johnson, and Chandler Rachelle in Star Light (2020)
In the wrong hands, cliches are about the worst thing that can populate a film. Handled poorly, they just remind you all that can be wrong about cinema. However, cliches became that way for a reason, and are popular with some degree of cause. So, when filmmakers can lean in and utilize cliched material for their own means, sometimes you wind up with a fun result. Star Light is just such a beast, wandering down a well worn path but occasionally doing it in a way that we haven’t seen before, allowing it to stand out from the pack. Out now, it’s an option to consider for genre hounds. The movie is a mix of horror and science fiction, with a bit of an original hook. Here, we have the story of a group of teenagers fighting off a strange entity and protecting a mysterious woman, but the...

Producer Lee Matthews launches screenwriting competition
Lee Matthews.

Producer Lee Matthews has launched a short film screenwriting competition, open to emerging or established writers from any racial background or gender identity.

Matthews will turn the winning script into a 5-7 minute film which will screen on the YouTube channel run by his company Different Films (the re-branded Matthewswood Productions) in 2020.

The Emo the Musical producer tells If: “The competition is open to everyone, emerging or not, young or not, straight or not, from any racial background or gender identity.

“The screenwriter just needs to be able to see the benefit in having his or her story made into a finished short film. That can happen if the essence of the story is about difference and/or looks at life through a completely different lens, the concept is a stand-out and the production is feasible.”

He estimates it will cost him up to $5,000 to make the short.

The Season Four Trailer For Hit YouTube Premium Comedy ‘Foursome’ Is Here
YouTube Premium’s longest-running series is back.

The fourth-season trailer for racy comedy Foursome dropped this week, and while it’s still packed full of YouTube talent like leading lady Jenn McAllister (3.4 million subscribers) and Rickey Thompson, the hit show’s next installment is noticeably absent Logan Paul, who played McAllister’s overbearing older brother Alec for the first three seasons. Paul was cut from the series in January following his widely-criticized video showing a dead body in Japan's Aokigahara forest.

Foursome follows four friends through the trials and tribulations of being teenagers. In this latest season, set to premiere on Oct. 24, the Og foursome reunites for one last epic summer together before some of them graduate, leaving McAllister’s character to face her junior and senior years of high school alone.

The series, which has pulled in some impressive viewership numbers for YouTube, also stars Cameron Moulene and Sarah Gilman,...

Eiff 2017: Emo the Musical Review
Author: Steven Neish

Expelled from his previous school following a failed suicide attempt, Ethan (Benson Jack Anthony) enrols at Seymour High, a struggling state school subsidised by a pharmaceutical company shamelessly showering the student body in serotonin boosters. Eager to fit in, he naturally gravitates towards the school’s resident emo contingent, comprising band-mates Bradley (Rahart Adams), Roz (Lucy Barrett) and Jay (Ben Bennett), and soon finds himself joining the ranks of Worst Day Ever. Simultaneously, however, Ethan finds himself drawn to Trinity, (Jordan Hare), the lead singer of rival Christian outfit Hope Group, which promises to spell the end of his newfound anonymity.

A feature-length expansion of his award-winning 2014 short of the same name, Neil Triffett’s high school musical pitches warring clans — or cliques — against each other to timeworn effect. Worst Day Ever and Hope Group are Australia’s answer to Capulet and Montague, Barden Bellas and The Treblemakers,...

Ethan gets expelled from his private school after attempting suicide in the yard. Written and directed by Neil Triffett, “Emo the Musical” premiered at the 2017 Berlin International Film Festival. Watch an exclusive clip below.
